Justin Turner update
He has been working out with the team and is in Ann Arbor. However, his status is undetermined(scores not yet updated). But, they have a high indication he will be suited up in the fall and have faith in Justin Turner, which gives us a clue why he is here already.
There's nothing we can do except hope for the best. Thanks for the update.
is a good sign. Thanks for the news, hopefully more good news will follow soon.
.....on August 3rd. I think someone here mentioned that on Thursday or Friday.
August 3rd is a Monday. I'm hoping that's a good week. If not, we could be two injuries away from: "starting cornerbacks: JT Floyd and Adrian Witty."
Awesome.
/shits pants
August 3rd is my birthday, and I've already written on JT's Facebook wall* asking for him to pass as his birthday present to me, so we're all good.
*I did not actually do this. But that actually is my birthday.
If you actually did that I would consider you a lonely, lonely person.
And since I didn't and just posted about not doing it here, I consider myself incredibly bored lately.
now assuming his clearance to play...does he line up at cornerback or safety? Weren't there some questions about his ability to play cornerback at the collegiate level? Given our needs at both positions, he could work in at either, but i was jw what is the latest word as to what position he is practicing at.
He was recruited by Michigan with the specific intent of bringing him in as a cornerback. The possibility is there for him to move to safety, of course, but he will be a CB when he arrives.
As for his ability to play it, he was one of the best players in the Army game, and despite being consistently listed as a safety by Rivals, he made a big jump in the rankings (finished as the second highest 4* player) based on his play at CB.
Sounds like Turner could be a Michael Huff type DB. He could play at either DB position depending on the in game situation.
That is what I thought but with Boo Boo and Warren, safety would be the most logical if he needs to get on the field.
there is no question that JT can play either. He will play M's new hybrid the the CS.
Also, along with the aforementioned OP he has been researching, along with the coaching staff, the possibility of matriculation through the a Junior College should his scores not be sufficient. I hate to be the negative one, but that is some more information on his current status.
I don't think that gives any indication on his status or the confidence the coaching staff or JT have in him passing the test. Its just a backup plan that should be looked into in case of the worst case scenario coming to fruition.
The coaching staff and JT would be stupid if they did not have a plan B.
The coaching staff has a lot of time and effort already invested in the kid. It would be ridiculous if they waited until August 4th to start making contingency plans in the event he didn't qualify to enroll at Michigan.
He's looking at going to Prep school which is not the same as a Junior College. Juco uses elegibility. Prep school is an extra year of high school basically.
get some news about his progress. It seems to have been a while since anyone has had anything to say about JT and the fact that he is working out with the team is great news. Also, who ever questioned his ability to play CB?
remember last summer, Witherspoon was working out and even practicing with the team - he didnt make he academic threshold, he left ann arbor and now he plays for Rutgers.
It is not a done deal.
JT's already eligible pending this test. witherspoon was never eligible at any point last season
So with him on campus it sounds like he's definitely building relationships with the kids and coaches. So worst case scenario he doesn't pass the test, goes to a prep school for a year, and comes in 2010 as a "redshirt freshman".
I think he'd technically still be a true freshman in 2010 if he goes to prep school. But I'm not 100% sure, so somebody (like MGoObes, he knows friggin everything) correct me if I'm wrong.
Prep school does not count as a year of college. When you finish prep school, you still have five years of eligibility.
he is wearing number 2? Because, well, he is.
is there a list anywhere? i've check mgoblue.com a couple times lately and the spring roster is still up.
