Just saying that him not being found guilty does not necessarily equal him being found not guilty. For example, there could be a hung jury, which seems possible given that the evidence is presumably his word against hers.

For his sake I hope he isn't, and not because he's a UM guy.

He must be very confident that he's not guilty if he's rejecting a plea deal. Of course he and this girl are the only ones who really know what happened, so if he truly is innocent he has every right to be confident and to refuse a plea deal. But my point is that without entering a plea, it's my assumption that if he is found guilty (I, also, am not a lawyer), he will face punishment to the fullest extent of the law. As he should.

And at that point, I'm guessing getting cut from the Cowboys would be the least of his problems.

1. He's pretty confident in his case.

2. The prosecuter is not offering a plea deal that is realistically any better for him than a guilty verdict would be (either because the prosecutor thinks his/her case is pretty strong, or because s/he is being a dick, which is not unlikely, unfortunately).

No matter the outcome JD isn't getting cut, let's just get that out of the way right now. This is the Dallas Cowboys, the same team that signed Greg Hardy, and there is no way in hell they are parting with one of their top draft choices over a misdemeanor. Second of all JD is one of the nicest and most humble kids to come through Michigan, and this charge is completely out of character. Knowing what I know about the gf I think there is a high probability he wins this in court.

Lewis now has that Dallas and Jerry Jones money behind him. It will probably be resolved rather quick.

That "there were no visible marks or bruises" then he should be easily acquitted. That's a whole universe of "reasonable doubt." In fact, if correct, it's incredibly unjust to press charges and take such a case to trial. Then again, maybe the report is incorrect.

When a player/alum from your own preferred college football team is in serious legal trouble, there is only one thing to write that will satisfy everyone reading your comment: "I just hope justice is done in this case." It shows you still support the player, but care for the victim as well, and no one can say you're an asshole! I think I will trademark this expression.

Irregardless, I just hope justice is done in this case.
