He should not have transferred, then, knowing the rules for non-hardship, if his plan was to declare after this year. Was his reason—look at Justin Fields?

Otherwise, redshirting and playing scout team against a top 5 starting 5 can help improve his game AND get him a degree more easily since he can focus on learning.

It is a crappy system just like it was for Matthews and Robinson. Until coaches have to sit out a year for taking a new job anything that restricts player movement and them doing what is best for them is a bad rule. Competitive balance shouldn't trump doing what is right for the kids, especially if you are going to continue to force them to not get paid

The medical redshirt rules are more ridiculous than this.  Mario Ojemudia should have gotten a medical redshirt but the NCAA wouldn't bend on ONE GAME.  Isn't the NCAA supposed to represent the athlete's best interest?

Meanwhile Fields at O$U cries racism and many other nonsense cases.

Just another example of the NCAA needing to get their act together.

"Izzo said the decision on the Hauser situation and the current handling of transfer waivers by the NCAA caused him to resign from the National Association of Basketball Coaches Board of Directors on Wednesday night after the ruling was issued."

I wonder if the members keep their own basketballs there, and if yes, did Izzo pick his up when he went home.

It's going to be so nauseating when every game they play, they show a shot of Hauser, with Izzo's cronies on the announcing team decrying the injustice.  "He had to quit the council of assholes over this!  He felt so strongly about it.  Yammer yammer inconsistencies in transfer rules rabble rabble!  They're losing this game pretty much only because this kid was unjustly not allowed to play!  Or they are winning this game against all odds, because this kid was unjustly not allowed to play.  Second best shooter!!!"

And Izzo is going to sing of the injustices committed against him in every post game press conference. If he wins hell claim it is despite the NCAA actively trying to stop his team. If he loses hell cite being undermanned and held back by bureaucracy as the reason.

And then he ends the article with this:

"Izzo said Hauser came to MSU not expecting to play, and that he and the university did not initially plan to appeal for an immediate waiver until Hauser's family decided to try for one."

So, how can you be "devestated" over the descision that was made?  What a douche!  Cry me a river Izzo...

I strongly dislike Izzo, but he's got a point here. NCAA waiver approvals are a total crapshoot and they seem entirely willing to believe some absolute lies from kids that are clearly transferring solely for athletic reasons. Some of the ones that get approved are absolutely laughable (like, how in the world did Aubrey Solomon get one?).

What were the grounds for the waiver appeal?  Izzo says they have a strong case, but I haven't been able to find what the grounds were in any of the Hauser transfer articles.  The way the NCAA hands out waivers these days, Hauser's case must be pretty flimsy.
