I thought he should the the #1 QB too. He plays better than the #1 QB, Sam Huard. But, Huard is very good. It's close. But I think McCarthy has better accuracy. McCarthy places so many passes beautifully in the bread basket.

Average star rating for the 2021 class is .98

lol.

If it stays above .92 that'll be the best class up and down in Michigan history.

Phew. If he had stayed a 4 star then I would have thought less of him. Is there anyway he can get a 6th star to guarantee his performance? I personally wouldn't take anybody with a Tom Brady like high school resume.

Just now noticed others mentioned the 6th star. What about a volume knob of 11 like on Spinal Tap to exceed all others.

Hey look, everyone...I found the asshole in the thread.

Actually, Shane Morris was NOT rated this high. In fact he wasn't even close by the time the final rankings came out. Henne and Mallett were both WAY higher. McCarthy is in that category if you want to be a smart ass.

Morris was overhyped by Michigan fans because he was from Michigan. Check his recruiting rankings...he was not held in the same regard nationally.

The Debbie Downer schtick is lame AF, especially when you don't know what you're talking about.

If Morris is a top 25 all-time recruit since 2004 (or whenever rankings actually started), it's barely. Check 247 and you can figure it out for yourself. Me, I don't care enough to count.

We are still about 19 months from 2021 NSD, and Morris was absolutely rated as a 5* at this point in the process. I'm hoping McCarthy ends up being the best QB in Michigan history, but let's chill on pumping him to epic proportions in the meantime.....

I LITERALLY said "actually, Shane Morris was NOT rated this high. In fact he wasn't even close by the time the final rankings came out."

What are you talking about he absolutely was rated as a 5* at this point? I never said otherwise, I know where he was rated before he got mono, sucked his senior year of HS and never developed from that point.

Morris and McCarthy are still not in the same class. McCarthy had a shot to be the #1 overall QB and a top 10 player in his entire class. That was not Shane Morris.

We get it, you have to see it before you believe it. Beat MSU and OSU. Yada yada yada...like O said the schtick from the Debbie Downer crew is old. It's like people can't be excited about a talented prospect...but if we sign a 3 star you same posters want to come out of the woodwork telling us why that's why we could never compete with OSU. Comparing our class ranking with their average star ranking and how it's so much better.

Pick a fucking lane and stick to it.

I'm an adult. I can be excited for a big time prospect and understand that it's a PROSPECT and a lot more goes into being Trevor Lawrence or Tua or Baker. I don't need reminders that Shane Morris was a bust. He's not Shane, coached by Brady Hoke, or developing behind some of the worst lines of our lifetime. Nor is he from Michigan.

But he's a rich white QB with a live arm who wears his hat backwards...so I guess we're doomed. Morris 2.0.

And?  Shane got mono, didn't develop very well, and dropped in the rankings.  What exactly is your point?  That we shouldn't be happy when our players move up in rankings, similar to being sad when players like Morris move down?

Shea will probably be the starter this season. Dylan in 2020 and 2021. Joe and J.J. will probably compete in 2022. I'm hoping that Shea does great this season and gets drafted in the first round of the NFL, then Dylan lights it up in 2020-21. If both are successful and drafted high in the NFL, Michigan will become the QB university like we were in the 90s and early 2000s. JJ will probably end up a 4 or 3 year starter.

He also should be the #1 QB too. He's at #2 right now. But having watched video of both, JJ McCarthy looks better. I think the big knock on him is the #1 QB has a more solid looking body. JJ McCarthy is really skinny.

And one more thing, McCarthy will be on campus at the time many think Joe Milton will become starter. I am wondering if Joe Milton will end up transferring. Clearly, he is not half the QB McCarthy is. McCarthy could probably start as a true freshman. He is that good. I think he's better than JT Daniels. And what a great attitude he has.
