Jeff George Jr. Likely Starting at QB Today for Illinois

Submitted by BursleyHall82 on

This has been rumored all week, but the Big Ten Network just reported that Jeff George Jr. (their third-stringer) is likely starting today at QB for Illinois. Lunt and Crouch didn't practice on Thursday, they reported.

Might be a long afternoon on offense for the Illini.

They will definitely pass for more yards than Rutgers.

One RU 'completion' was a jet sweep, not a pass. Their only completed pass went for -1 yards. Rutgers passed for -1 yards. Literally not throwing for the entire game would have been better.

I'd expect a lot of "chuck it toward the receiver and pray" this game. Which is really all you can do against Michigan's defense. A lot of PBUs, a few INTs, and yes, a couple big completions.

I also expect this guy to die during the game. At some point he'll go fetal position on the sidelines, and Illinois will spend the rest of the game running the Wildcat. At this point, that's probably the better option anyway...

Can remember being in California drinking beers at 9:00 AM in the one Los Angeles bar for Big 10 football for the early game between #3 U-M and Jeff George led #8 Illiini.  Michigan's first play - 74 yard run by Tony Boles down to the Illini 1 yard line.  Great 24-10 win for the good guys!

Looking forward to watching our D putting the hammer down on Junior, with the same result as '89.  Go Blue!!!

After that play this old Illinois fan turns to me and says that TD will be the only points we score on them. I didn't hear from him the rest of the game.

Illinois fans are such pricks. They think that they have tradition and are a force. They think that Red Grange started a rivalry with UM, but don't realize they are just another game every year for us.

when George goes down. I mean this team has one of the worst Olines in the league protecting their third string quaerterback as the lead signal caller against the nation's deepest and best Dline. This is disaster waiting to happen.

I'm sorry but I don't see how he makes it out of this game without injury. We might see a wildcat offense for the entire second half.

Its been a long time since I felt this way, but I am feeling sorry for our opposition. It almost feels unfair -- like we should give them a couple players to make it more fair or something. This just feels like another ridiculous mismatch
