Jeff George Jr. Likely Starting at QB Today for Illinois
This has been rumored all week, but the Big Ten Network just reported that Jeff George Jr. (their third-stringer) is likely starting today at QB for Illinois. Lunt and Crouch didn't practice on Thursday, they reported.
Might be a long afternoon on offense for the Illini.

This might not be the ideal day for their fans to wear those "MUCK FICHIGAN" t-shirts. (But I hope they do so they can look disappointed and idiotic wearing them while their team is getting their ass whipped.)

Will they pass for more yards than Rutgers? It will probably be close
October 22nd, 2016 at 11:14 AM ^
You wanted a rivalry with Michigan? Consider this your tryout, would-be rival.
October 22nd, 2016 at 11:58 AM ^
I thought Bo taught Illinois that they didn't want to be a rival after they fired Moeller
October 22nd, 2016 at 11:46 AM ^
They will definitely pass for more yards than Rutgers.
One RU 'completion' was a jet sweep, not a pass. Their only completed pass went for -1 yards. Rutgers passed for -1 yards. Literally not throwing for the entire game would have been better.
I'd expect a lot of "chuck it toward the receiver and pray" this game. Which is really all you can do against Michigan's defense. A lot of PBUs, a few INTs, and yes, a couple big completions.
I also expect this guy to die during the game. At some point he'll go fetal position on the sidelines, and Illinois will spend the rest of the game running the Wildcat. At this point, that's probably the better option anyway...

My dad bought me a Jeff George jersey of the clearance rack when I was a kid and I was so happy to wear that jersey lol

In the Big House, against our D this year under Don Brown, has to be the absolute WORST recipe for a first start ever.

it can only go up from here
October 22nd, 2016 at 11:42 AM ^
Not sure there is much of a bright side when you're a QB on that roster.
October 22nd, 2016 at 11:52 AM ^
on the bright side 6 months from today he might be able to eat solid food again.

Coached by the same guy who coached Jay Cutler is quite a draw...

Yeah, the operation to reattach his head will actually be an impprovement on the play where he got it ripped off.

Can remember being in California drinking beers at 9:00 AM in the one Los Angeles bar for Big 10 football for the early game between #3 U-M and Jeff George led #8 Illiini. Michigan's first play - 74 yard run by Tony Boles down to the Illini 1 yard line. Great 24-10 win for the good guys!
Looking forward to watching our D putting the hammer down on Junior, with the same result as '89. Go Blue!!!

After that play this old Illinois fan turns to me and says that TD will be the only points we score on them. I didn't hear from him the rest of the game.
Illinois fans are such pricks. They think that they have tradition and are a force. They think that Red Grange started a rivalry with UM, but don't realize they are just another game every year for us.

The over under on the score is only 52-55 at most of the vegas sports books.
October 22nd, 2016 at 11:23 AM ^
That's because after it's fifty to nothing Harbaugh will pull the dogs off of a former NFL coach he respects and likes. Illinois won't score.

Harbaugh won't pull the dogs off. He'll keep inserting 3rd, 4th, and higher string players, but he won't tell them to not take full advantage of their opportunity. That's not his way.
October 22nd, 2016 at 2:43 PM ^
kind of what pulling the dogs off means. . .

No, actually....
October 22nd, 2016 at 11:54 AM ^
and we are 35 point favorites, right? so they think Illinois will score 18-20 points?

2n = 20
n = 10 (Illinois)
n + 35 = 45 (Michigan)
I didn't find that too hard.

Illinois might be better off starting dad. even at 50, he'd at least put some points on the board.
October 22nd, 2016 at 11:32 AM ^
when George goes down. I mean this team has one of the worst Olines in the league protecting their third string quaerterback as the lead signal caller against the nation's deepest and best Dline. This is disaster waiting to happen.
October 22nd, 2016 at 11:33 AM ^
If Illinois scores any points today, I'll be really, really surprised. The only way it happens is if Wilton throws a bad pass to one of their DB's.

Its been a long time since I felt this way, but I am feeling sorry for our opposition. It almost feels unfair -- like we should give them a couple players to make it more fair or something. This just feels like another ridiculous mismatch
