Jed Donahue Picks UM over PSU 52-24

Submitted by GBOD79 on

Just thought this was interesting. Jed Donahue, "the voice of Penn State football on Pennsylavania Sports Network," has picked Michigan to win 52-24.

The article is posted on Rivals. Good insight and analysis from a guy who know PSU football.

Yikes - I must have been a fan too long - predictions like this give me the creeps...I find it hard to believe that our fanbase is taking anything for granted...

Who knows what ole Jed's trying to do? (insert Beverly Hillbillies reference here)

Now that would be just fine by me.  That would be just what the young guys need to start to turn the corner and gain some momentum for the last stretch of games.  I hope Denard has the biggest game of his career, ( so far ).

Saturday night.  He may very well start.  There was something fishy about him not playing last week.  I think JoePa and Co. pull out all the stops for this one and both teams end up chasing QBs all night.

I was thinking more likely a 31-17 type score. Holding PSU to 106 ypc 297 passing and two turnovers. I have a feeling one of the young DBs is going to get is maiden pick. Time off will help DRob and the game will slow down again for him.

My gut feeling has been correct about every game so far in terms of wins and losses.  I think we will win this game, but certainly not by 28 points.  I think our defense will make a few big plays despite giving up some yards and our offense will continue to make some plays.

The 52 I can buy, but the 24?  Not so sure.  That said, the last time UM played a major D1 team with this bad of a QB (UConn), they held them to 10 points.  So far in B10 play, UM has played Chappell, Cousins, and Stanzi - 3 of the better QBs in the conference, on good offenses, and exactly the type of guys who would chew up this defense.  It kind of makes sense that against QBs with accuracy issues, pourous offensive lines, and limited playmakers around them, UM might put forth a better defensive effort.

If that happens.   But I don't see the game being that much of a blowout....

In fact I expect a relatively close game.   However considering how rough PSU's offense has been, I think if we get a healthy lead on them, 14 or more points and they're forced to throw with the motley crew of QB's they have, I think our defense will be able to stop them.  Yes, even our porous defense.

While our D has been bad, PSU's O has been just as bad, 99th in scoring:

We should beat these guys IMO, but it'll be a typical close B10 game, with Michigan slowly pulling away as the game progresses.

per game along with 330 yards, and that includes Youngstown, Kent St., Temple, AND Minny.  They had 354 yards against Minny.  I see no reason we can't hold PSU to 30 points or less.  Unless our Gatorade tub gets spiked with turbo-lax, there's no reason we should score less than 40.

Michigan 42 - 27.

I'm calling 48-28 Michigan over PSU, whatever kind of serum they inject JoePa with to keep upright they should start handing it out to the injury riddle team. We will see the same thing that has been going on all year in Unhappy Valley, JoePa wandering around asking people where his car is, then bickering with Carrot Top about what plays to call. After the game in his press conference he'll say we arent good and him getting grumpy at reporters when they ask him questions about the state of his team or how many Depends he goes through during a game.

My spidey sense is tingling big time right now and it's saying "Michigan wins big".  If we don't turn the ball over, we win handily.  Period.  If we turn the ball over a few times, we may win a close one or we may lose a close one.  If Penn State turns the ball over a few times, we win in a blowout.  I think that we're long overdue for a game where we come out big on the + side turnover-wise, and the Penn State program reminds me a lot of the Michigan program in '08.  Lots of negativity nowadays coming out of Happy Valley.  I don't like predicting blowouts because it makes a close victory almost feel like a disappointment, but let's just say that I'm feeling really good about this one.
