to play football, not to play trumpet
Noted, edited it up a little
Well props to Dantonio if true. I wouldn't have expected it from him.
is cussing really all that bad?
What if he was a creative writing student and he published an obscene story? would you have a different opinion? I don't want to jump to conclusions, cause I don't know you, but it seems to me like you just don't like rap?
DId you even bother to watch the video?
The smoking marijuana thing in the video might be a bit worse then the cursing.
He was in Colorado when the video was shot so it's all good
It worked out ok for Charles Rogers, didn't it?
how do you feel about mario manningham's career at michigan?
I don't think he did watch the video. It's not the cussing, I hope you realize why when/if you watch it.
If MSU had pulled his scholarship, it would not have prevented him from enrolling and playing at another college or JC. Plenty of kids that have done worse than this ended up finding a home in JC or a mid major school. The fact remains this kid is pursuing a rap career and not football. MSU may be putting this out now to try to save face.
Also, this kid had red flags that kept several schools from recruiting him and of which Michigan State was aware. Even if he did pull his scholarship, Dantonio should have never been recruiting him in the first place.
sometimes a coach will give a kid a chance and hope he matures, as some do. I can't fault a coach for wanting to believe in a kid, and have to give Mork credit for doing the right thing when it didn't work out.
All that said, I'm VERY glad that Hoke seems to focus on getting better student athletes to come. These gambles come back to bite a program all too often.
This is a coach who basically takes guys right from being in Jail to the practice field with no suspension whatsoever, never mind kicking them off the team. Now he wants people top believe he pulled a guys scholly for smokin' a little pot?
full disclosure I didn't watch the video so there may be worse things on that, but from the comments that what it seems to be.
This coach has a LONG track record of being extremely understanding of players poor behaviors. From players putting mob style beatings on engineers to the aforementioned welcoming a player back in the fold immediately after getting out of jail for fall practice. I just don't buy that he pulled this guys scholarship for this. It just doesn't seem to go along with his long history we know to be true.
He is just cutting the kid so he can oversign. /boom rcmb'd
wow yuri wright, that brings me back. I wonder what he is up to
He is still at Colorado. Not sure if he made an impact last year.
If you are out there. I hope you still figure it out. But seriously? Those tweets?
You know you have a bad defense when you are keeping track of touchdown saves.
That, my friend, was hilarious
I heard Dantonio dropped him because his friends suck at dancing.
Jabrill Peppers' stuff is better than this!!! Wow...
Jabrill's rap was actually really good. I was blown away when I listened to it because my expectations were not very high.
This crap on the other hand is just an abomination.
Ok, I'll admit right now that I'm as white as it gets, and I haven't been into rap since Tupac & Biggie, so help me out; is this considered "good"?
Not at all. This is some absolute garbage. He sounds like every other current "rapper" I hear on the radio. I would suggest you keep listening to those Tupac cassettes, at least he had talent. I am still a big fan of 90's hip hop, back when hip hop was good, and I really can't stand 99% of the shit I hear now-a-days.
I'm sure a high school kid hoping to start a rap career would be honored to be told he sounds just like the rappers you hear on the radio. Don't get me wrong, I think it's garbage too, but it doesn't appear to take much more than some misogyny and some fiddling with ProTools to get on the radio these days.
That's some talent to be able to rap while taking a hit.
You know you're on your way to stardom when your video is shot almost exclusively in a baby barn. Dude is going to make millions.
One thing I take away from the video: "Taco is Tony."
Blows my mind!
Scholarship pulled because a dude put rap videos online? That doesn't make any sense, and if it is true, I think it is an excuse to get rid of a guy they may have regretted offering in the first place. That is a "son, you need to remove the videos and run stadium steps" kind of offense, not a scholarship removal.
I can totally buy it
Sadly you're probably right.
If you watch the video, the drug use is pretty wide spread and in your face... I know "it's just pot" but either way I don't think any school wants that type of publicity. His attitude (or persona) doesn't show a willines to stop the drug use either.
Depending on your star ranking it is either stadium steps or a swift boot off the team. This kid is low ranked so he gets to be the "object lesson" to the more skilled players.
Actually it is still freakin hilarious.
I choose to believe the earlier thread.
I think if DatBull was a little better at football, the video would have been deleted or ignored.
This comment just went platinum in the hip hop community
Which I know, but its the offseason and its not even close to shark week. Anyway, one big theme over there is about how Hoke will use any excuse to cut a kid, whether it be Caleb Stacey and his injury or stonum and his legal issues. In the eyes of rcmb these are cuts of subpar players to add better players. This was news to me, that hoke is seen as someone who cuts. I suppose its impossible to say, but one could certainly view pulling an offer of an unranked kid for - gasp - swearing on the Internet as a similar move. If I thought MSU could find a more talented kid to take that spot, hur dur.
You've been around since '09 and you've not encountered Sparty throwing ridiculous accusations at us? And didn't Stacey decommit before ever showing up? And wasn't Stonum our best receiver?
Accusation of something like "cutting" players and I don't put a lot of stock into it, ESP from rcmb, but I have a feeling if saban at bama had something like 25 guys in three years depart and bring in huge classes of highly touted kids, we would flip out as rcmb is. Looking at those 25 from inside though, we see some injuries, some kids who never made it to campus, some 5th year guys and some guys who you can chalk up to not being good enough / didn't like the coaching change (vinopal sticks out).
I lost my train of thought, its late.
Moral of the story, don't put credence into rcmb.
I don't know how much football talent he has but he has no future in rap. Dude makes Soulja Boy look like Nas in comparison to Datbull 4 Life.
Why the Kia hate? They are relatively cheap, look nice, and have a long warranty. Unfortunately, will have burned through the 50K bumper-bumper warranty in less than 2 years....
painful. Quit while you're still behind playa
Somethings you just can't unsee!
But just in case he reads this blog:
...that he chose rap over football.
Soon, choosing Burger King over McDonalds will be the toughest decisions he has to make.
This sounds like a "I broke up with you first" kind of thing.
Still why were they offering a kid like this a scholarship anyway.
Even with their propensity to cover up sexual assaults from their basketball team and make excuses for the criminals on their football team, even Sparty can't give a scholly to a kid smoking a fatty on a tasteless rap video. Can they?
What an idiot, sparty really has no clue.
Jay Harris freestyle or it didn't happen...
I think he should still go do both. He is a 2 star player as well as rapper. A few years under Dantonio and he will spit hot fire.
The rap game is guilty of dirty recruiting. They were talking poorly about msu's recruiting budget, bribing players with money, girls, cars, and drugs. Also, I think they kicked a few rappers out of the game and onto vh1 reality shows to make room for new recruits. Dantonio cooled on this guy months ago anyway.
And the NCAA isn't even pretending like they can do anything to the rap game. It will still be allowed at all the sanctioned events and maintain full contact with recruits and schools.
I don't think this thread was necessary or changes anything. I would tend to believe the rapper over Dantoniio.
I'd believe O.J. Simpson over Dantonio.
Was it because he wasn't an international rapper like Akon or Psy?
/Beats dead horse
Yes, and every relationship that I've ever had was "a mutual decision." I swear, it's true! They didn't break up with me, it was mutual! Why won't you believe me?!?
Jack Kennedy is 10x the rapper.
I can see why he didn't have the courage to tell his parents. Then, he took a couple hits and bam, courage!
