Jacob Eason

Submitted by Crainey18 on

I saw on the Georgia 247 board that Jacob Eason is most likely gone after this year. The source said it will come down to two teams and he keeps hearing Michigan. He would have to sit out a year and would be competing with Peters and Mccaffrey.

Is he injured or something? 5* QB that isn't playing seems unusual. Especially since he played last year. Didn't we try to recruit him before UGA got him? Maybe I'm thinking of someone else.

Unless you know him personally or have some pretty fucking solid evidence, you are being reckless about coming on here trashing a kid, implying (and that is being generous) that he is a bad person who is a cokehead. That is fucked up and if someone was doing that to a Michigan player you wouldn't stand for it. Pathetic.

And anonymous boosters/parents/ bartenders, etc. are not good sources especially if they aren't even first-hand accounts.

Have some integrity. This is a bad look at best.

You mean like if a bunch of players and boosters and bartenders and fraternities all knew and discussed the fact that our star offensive lineman was a major cokehead and liked to get into fights and intimidate sexual assault victims? and it was mostly just talked about on message boards until the perpetrator of the sexual assault was out of school and out of football and the offensive lineman was in the NFL?

I stood for it then.

Eason was the #1 QB in his class, but after getting hurt this year, Jake Fromm took over and has lead them to nothing but wins. They also secured #1 QB Justin Fields from this upcoming class.  This isn't an indication that Eason isn't supremely talented, just that he might have a better opportunity elsewhere once he's healthy.

What seems unusual is a kid from the state of Washington going to Georgia in the first place. Or a five star tackle from New York who tells a whole coaching staff he is all in and at the last minute changes his mind and it is Georgia instead.

Recruiting practices were opened the minute Smart came to that school. We do not need Eason. There are major red flags all over this one in many different ways. The more bad shit that happens to that program the better. Any coach associated with that puke at Alabama will allow boosters to do anything to get the top recruits. Smart, Saban and Clemsons coach all pees in a pod.

I like McCaffery way better anyways and he is going to benefit Michigan's program in a lot of ways. Him and Peters are just good kids from good family's who are good QB's.

more than a year and a half before signing day. To me, that doesn't look shady. Very early commitments are not what you usualy see when recruits are looking for inducements. After Richt was fired he looked around at other schools, all in the south. Odd from a kid from Washington whose father played for ND.

it was Rusty, so it was probably good information. I think the "rumors" of Peters transferring were never from legit sources like Lorenz or Webb.

Rusty also said on there they will most likely block transfers to any SEC and Miami. His parents are also HIGHLY against any school NOT running a pro-style. That leaves... Michigan and USC?

The 2019 QB competition is too far away for me to worry or think about now.

I'm slightly more concerned about 2018 DT depth. Hurst is gone. Solomon and Dwumfor will have to be the guys. Hudson is now on the O line. Is Mone back in 2018?

There are guys in the mix like Irving-Bey who I'm not sure will be ready yet and Jeter who I'm not sure if is a DE or DT.

Guys who are already starting or playing meaningful snaps:

DT: Solomon, Mone, Dwumfour, Marshall

DE: Gary, Chase (if he comes back), Kemp, Kwity

That's a four man line two deep. Others will emerge on merit, not because there's a hole on the roster. Competition for playing time will be fierce.

I know we love to be concerned about the third string nose 'round these parts but they'll be fine.

Mone is back. Solomon and Dwumfour are emerging. The 3-3-5 package still exists. Gary can bump down some and be a monster there, too. The 2nd DT is playing like 15-30 snaps/game this season. Buncha other various large humans.

You don't replace a Mo Hurst with like for like (on the field or in our hearts), but next year's DL will probably be one of the best in the country again.

I'm actually bullish on our QB situation for 2019. Don Brown is going off unprompted on how impressed he is with McCaffrey and certain reliable insiders are wryly observing how interesting it is that Brown is mentioning that. So I'm very optimistic about McCaffrey. Meanwhile, already in the ring are Wilton Speight, who struggled this year but has total mastery of the offense and another year to refine things and become a good-if-not-great QB, and Brandon Peters.

Peters is, in my opinion, behind where he should be right now, but he's gotten a good kick in the pants and has a chance to really turn things up in the offseason. If he puts in the effort through the spring and summer he'll be a different guy in fall camp.

The offense struggled more than I thought this year, but the trajectory for 2018 is still really good.

With the linebacker and safety play better. Much more speed replacing Mccray. Singleton and Anthony are monsters. Ross will get some snaps in the middle. I like J. Woods a lot and could see him beat out one of the safety's next year. Hard hitter with better coverage skills imo.

Mo Hurst is one of my all time favorites for sure, but man I think Solomon is going to dominate down the line also. Dwumfour looks solid also. If I remember correctly Hurst was not all that highly ranked buthe is playing himself into a top ten pick. He is a humble, well spoken kid also, which only makes you not want to see him leave all that much more.

Would love to see him go to the Lions, but they will have to trade up for that to happen.

Well if Georgia makes the playoffs, or at the very least, doesn't totally shit the bed down the stretch, Eason is not ever getting his job back. And Fromm is a true freshman so it's not like Eason could just "wait it out." And I wouldn't blame Eason for one second for leaving. He's got all the talent in the world, the talent to definitely be playing on Sundays one day, and there are a ton of schools that would step all over each other for his services.

As far as coming to Michigan, I doubt it. Disregarding sitting out for a year, you'll be competing with Peters, McCaffery, Doyle, and Milton for the job. Two of those guys already have a significant headstart on you and are not there to be clipboard holders. I don't say this to insinuate that Eason shies away from competition, but I bet he'll want to go somewhere that he has a relatively clear path to the field. Somewhere that has a clear, entrenched starter right now who also happens to be an upperclassmen, and then after that guy graduates, Eason is "the guy" and can play for 1-2 years.

I wouldn't really look at him as much of an experiment in general. He has NFL talent. He will go start somewhere else and he will most likely be in the NFL. Georgia just has a couple of those guys so they are pretty rich at the position. I think he goes back to Washington. It would be the smart move.

The other smart option would be Miami.

If the opportunity is there and he want's to join the program, no issue with that at all.  Seeing his freshmen year, he has talent that needs to be developed.  Harbaugh can do that

Secondly, why wouldn't we want Sunshine Ronnie Bass 2.0 on our team?  Great hair!

I would take him because as this season (and pretty much every M season post 2007)has shown us, you can never have enough talented Qbs. But I feel as though it's a poor career choice to transfer from somewhere you are the backup to a school in which a Qb in your same year and a Qb a class behind you would have 2+ years with the coaching staff and playbook before you're even eligible to play.

Yes please. I️ don’t care much about his alleged issues. If Harbaugh thinks he can deal with it, you have another QB on the roster with elite skills. The leaders in the locker room will take care of his issues. If they can’t, he will be out. Plus, he would have to know that this would probably be his last shot. If he had issues and transferred again, he may be done.

According to what I can find, there's another school of thought that has him as a near sure bet to end up in Miami, but of course it is all ultimately speculation at this point.

In any case, I am fairly confident in the QB situation moving forward here, so while it is interesting to think about, I don't know how likely it really would be, and do you really need to go this route given how the projected competition is lining up? It seems like it would be likely he would fulfill the role O'Korn has ended up filling here in a way. Maybe I am missing something there.

I think the team has enough QBs on the roster for one of them to be viable; I'd rather use that scholarship for the gapping maw that is offensive tackle.

and raise you "Justin Feagin."

Also, I can't believe more QBs aren't lining up to transfer to Michigan where JBB makes every dropback an adventure.

Don't you want adventure, you coddled punks? Clean pockets are for new jeans, not football.
