Jackson says practices are 'laid back' and 'not very focused' at times

I hesitate to post this as I'm not sure if we are good with Wolverines Wire on here* or if I will correctly imbed the link.  But these comments are really discouraging.

I'd like to see Harbaugh figure this out, but it seems like something major is off in expectations and preparation.

Regardless of whether or not that is true, his point still stands:  We have not had a lead for two straight games.  Against an Indiana team made up of 2-3* talent and an absolutely abysmal MSU team that is also made up of very low-ranked players and that lost to Rutgers (who is otherwise winless and Rutgers) and Iowa (how is also otherwise winless and beat MSU by 42 points).

He's still here but laying VERY low ever since I performed "last rites" on him about 2 weeks ago.  It was pretty apparent he posted and then answered his own post, then quickly doubled back and edited himself when multiple MGoUsers called him out on it.

I didn't ban him and as far as I can tell, neither did anyone else with mod buttons.  A quick check shows his last post was on 10/31 and that's his only post since he placed himself in deep doo-doo 5 days earlier.

I know that PonyConquerer helps coach a SW Michigan high school football team that has their district finals this Friday against their traditional rival. I'm guessing he finally has something else to focus on at present and will eventually return.

I know that you hate sparty and that your Userpic is too "busy" and the script too small to be able to read on my phone screen.

Other than that, nothing.

I only know where PonyConquerer coaches because I lived in that area for a few decades, and he had given out enough info that when I asked him if it was a team nicknamed the "Bears", he confirmed it.

This is why I highly respect coaches who have the decency to resign when they can no longer take it. It's a grueling drive and requires 100% effort each waking hour of the day. Coaches who resign midseason are often seen as quited and lambasted by fans and media alike. I'd have far more respect for someone who admits they dont have what it takes, rather than let their ego slowly bleed the program dry

Yeah I've said it before and I'll say it again this team should be practicing and playing with an up-tempo no huddle offense! If we had been practicing like 'you know who' here a decade ago our offense would probably be dynamic!

If there's anything Ive learned over the years, is that people on the blog tend to overreact to what happens on the field, in terms of predictions about what will happen in a subsequent game.

Case in point, everyone was elated after we beat Minnesota, and predicted a big blowout vs MSU, which obviously didnt materialize on the field. That, coupled with the loss to a very good Indiana team, has lead to an emotional swing in the other direction. Now the feeling is that we are total shit, our coaches suck, and will get owned by Wisconsin.

I think the answer lies somewhere in the middle. We are not as bad as we think we are at this point in the season, and we were not as good as we thought we were after Minnesota. I expect this game to be closer than people think, and more likely a win for Michigan. The fans on MGoBlog are notoriously bad at predicting game outcomes, due to the high emotionality involved after an unexpected result.

The product on the field for the last two weeks told us this...but I supposed it's nice to have "insider" confirmation of the common knowledge on the "outside".

To be fair, you took that quote out of context OP. Here's the full quote:

“I think we just have to be more consistent, like in practice,” Jackson said. “We practice good, Monday through Wednesday – the last couple Thursday practices haven’t been so well. We gotta pick it up – be more consistent in games, instead of just relying on one or two drives, doing good on one drive, taking it off. We just have to keep our foot on the gas the whole time.

“Thursday – that’s usually our last practice before Saturday. I think it’s not as intense, because we’re not in full pads. I think that carries a big role in it and we’re more laid back.”

If you squint, I would say Giles Jackson is trying to show leadership through these quotes. Might be he is still learning how to do that effectively as a younger player. I give him credit for pointing out what he thinks the room he is part of could be doing better. It's far more acknowledgement than Harbaugh has given.

I'll take the feedback Moleskyn.  Said something similar above, but I wasn't sure if Wolverines Wire was an accepted source around here so I didn't want to cut and paste from the article.

And I still think it's pretty surprising to hear that the last Thursday practices were laid back.  So I guess I don't feel that comment was out of context.

It doesn't seem right to me that a team who was dying to play this season and who got their butts kicked by MSU would lack focus or intensity.

His actual quote is not nearly as bad as the title of this thread would have you believe. I would read the short article yourself and then come to a conclusion.

But that sounds like I'm defending Harbaugh, so we'll see what the response here is...

Finally a player takes ownership here...  and maybe flip script and practice no pads monday and tuesday, then in pads wednesday and thursday, to better simulate the game...   unless that tires them out, seems more logical, and sure as heck would explain always starting flat for a quarter and a half.

OK, now I've had my morning cup of depression, and I can get on with my day.

But seriously, did the Iranian Revolutionary Guard kidnap the real Jim Harbaugh after the 2016 OSU game and replace him with a body double? Is this the darndest case of multiple personality disorder we've ever seen? This is the George Cstanza "OPPOSITE" of the coach we hired in 2014.
