Done.

While I agree that this is a great situation for Denard, I think he'd be making plays no matter where he was. He is too talented to be reasonably kept on the sidelines and too explosive to be stopped consistently by a defense. Admittedly, his production elsewhere might not match the Heisman numbers we're seeing now, but give the kid some credit.

I think the fact that RichRod was the only coach willing to put him at QB clearly indicates that in a different setting Denard's talent might not be shining quite as brightly.

He is too talented to be reasonably kept on the sidelines and too explosive to be stopped consistently by a defense.
Except that most of the schools that recruited him wanted him to play on defense.

I don't care what he says after calling Woodson, the most overrated Heisman winner.
October 6th, 2010 at 12:16 PM ^
Where he does he call Woodson an "overrated" Heisman winner? Which ratings of Heisman winners is he looking at in which he judges Woodson to have been too highly rated? Idiotic.
I assume he's trying to say he didn't think Woodson was the best college football player that year, which is also idiotic (see, Manning, Peyton, choke jobs against UF and NU, '97)
October 6th, 2010 at 12:36 PM ^
It's in his book, The Maisel Report. Also, on an ESPN chat, said Woodson should not have been the Heisman winner.
October 6th, 2010 at 12:29 PM ^
I don't know about Woodson, but this is the most overrated comma usage ever.
October 6th, 2010 at 12:03 PM ^
...but kinda boring article. He usually does better.
Still awesome to see us in the press so much though.
October 6th, 2010 at 12:21 PM ^
I personally think that Maisel is always boring, ESPECIALLY when you have to listen to his sloth-mouth slur over words on the radio or in blog videos. I've never been impressed by the guy
October 6th, 2010 at 4:09 PM ^
He's just another who's opinion shouldn't fall under the "expert" catagory.

Ivan, a glance at the map in not sufficient; learn about Pahokee. This is as tough as it gets: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pahokee,_Florida
Median household income $26,000.
October 6th, 2010 at 12:19 PM ^
but a simple glance at Denard's bio isn't sufficient. He's not from Pahokee, he's from Deerfield Beach.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deerfield_Beach,_Florida
The wiki image? A beach.
October 6th, 2010 at 12:28 PM ^
And let's throw another whoops in for good measure.
So he's just, like, some middle class DUDE?
October 6th, 2010 at 12:35 PM ^
How come tehre is no mention of Denard in the Deerfield Beach Wiki page? I think someone needs to get on this, and make sure this page gets Denarded.
October 6th, 2010 at 12:20 PM ^
denard's hometown is actually about 75 miles away from pahokee.
October 6th, 2010 at 1:15 PM ^
actually, this is as tough as it gets, I've been here plenty of times, its not pretty
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palatka,_Florida
whats really telling is that the numbers are inflated by east palatka.

"The statistics Robinson has collected are like tortilla chips. It's difficult to consume one and not keep reaching into the bag."
October 6th, 2010 at 12:22 PM ^
Anyone else notice under the "Notable Residents" section that names like Martavious Odoms and Vincent Smith appeared, but not one Denard Robinson?
October 6th, 2010 at 12:31 PM ^
That's because Denard isn't from Pahokee.
October 6th, 2010 at 12:30 PM ^
Robinson is from Deerfield Beach, FL, not Pahokee. Deerfield Beach is on the ocean.

On the article, agree with an ealier poster that said it was boring. Only interesting thing I thought was a quote from RichRod who spoke about DR's potential. Other than that, nothing new.
Somewhat off topic, since I don't consider him a Drew Sharp or ESPN PTI type: National opinion writers are generally not good. They formulate an opinion, then do minimal research to back of that opinion. Not the other way around...do research and see what you learn from the research. They are largely emotional people who have an opinion about everything and are paid to write things that generate hits. They certainly don't know more about the teams they write about than the fans of those teams, yet they still have strong opinions. Hallmark of an idiot, to have such a strong opinion about something you know so litlle about.

Not just Denard, but also the slot receivers, the slightly trimmer linemen, etc., fit what RR wants to do, and means that at least on offense, they are recruiting the right guys, star system or not.

somebody needs to sent this article to dee hart

Its MICHIGAN, not some east cost school who sometimes looks good in football. We've had heisman trophy winners before and we're going to have them in the future. Rich Rod isn't just a coach in the right place at the right time; he's the coach of THE Michigan Wolverines, and therefore he's going to be able to recruit players like Denard in the future as well. Rich Rod deserves credit for putting us in the situation that we are in right now at 5-0 and a chance to have a special season. We are fortunate to have Denard playing as well as he is right now, but we're not lucky; we EXPECT to be in this situation several times in the future. Both Rich Rod and Denard deserve a pat on the back for this season. GO BLUE!!

I thought that Florida was recruiting him as a Percy Harvin type player and not as a QB (?).
