Iowa pulls offer to Chelsea's Berkley Edwards
According to Scout.com, Iowa pulled their scholarship offer to Braylon's little brother Berkley Edwards.
"They said if Berkley didn't choose Iowa by now, he wasn't coming," Stan Edwards said in a text message.
Stan Edwards said on Monday that he and his family were waiting to see what happened with the coaching situations at the schools he was considering - Iowa, Cal and Minnesota. The Bears fired Jeff Tedford a day later.
It looks like the Gophers or a MAC offer for the 2013 Chelsea (MI) High running back unless Cal stays with the recruitment.
I know Michigan doesn't have any serious interest in him at this point, but hopefully he ends up at a quality school where he can get some playing time. He definitely put up some nice numbers for Chelsea the last couple years.

He should walk on. I bet he'd get a full ride eventually.

Because he's the brother of a former stand-out player.

yeah, but he has a skill set that is in high enough demand that he's unlikely to want to walk on. i'm sure he's prideful and thinks he's deserving of a scholarship somewhere. he probably would be more likelty to take it than walk on. i also suspect that as february nears and teams know which prospects they're really in on, other schools will offer berkley.

He should go to Minnesota, where he'll actually have a chance to start.
November 21st, 2012 at 1:34 PM ^
If he's good enough to start at Minnesota, he's good enough to at least play at Michigan, and it's probably more meaningful to him to attend the school where his father and brother starred.
November 21st, 2012 at 1:46 PM ^
We don't need guys who can "play" at Michigan. We need a dynamic running back and dynamic players. He's not a dynamic player.

But, Jerry Kill is a manipulator and verbally abusive.
November 21st, 2012 at 4:53 PM ^
Because!
November 21st, 2012 at 12:04 PM ^
Of course he will get a full ride. That comes with the number 1 jersey, right?
November 21st, 2012 at 1:47 PM ^
We'll see what Braylon says about giving it to a non-WR now (assuming he sticks at RB and doesnt transition to the ninja slot WR role)

Minnie did have a pretty epic "Open Gandam Style" stadium routine....
November 21st, 2012 at 11:27 AM ^
Oppa Gangnam Style? No idea what Open Gandam Style would mean.
November 21st, 2012 at 11:35 AM ^
That's funny. Because I have no idea what Oppa Gangnam Style means.

...they both are Korean (roughly translated) for "Who Let the Dogs Out?"

November 21st, 2012 at 12:53 PM ^
Don't you mean they're both Korean for "Macarena?"
November 21st, 2012 at 12:52 PM ^
This is still not helpful.
Thankfully.
November 21st, 2012 at 12:55 PM ^
As Mambo No. 5, Who Let the Dogs Out, the Macarena, etc...semi-catchy song (in this case, kind of hilarious video) that hits the tipping point and goes viral. Though I admit that Macarena came out before videos really went "viral" on the internet. But same idea. Maybe throw "Cotton Eyed Joe" in there as well.
Although at least Gangnam Style came from another country, unlike some of the others on the list.

but no "New Age Girl"? She don't eat meat but she sure likes the bone!

November 21st, 2012 at 1:46 PM ^
Loosely translated, it means "I have Gangnam style." Gangnam is supposed to be a very wealthy and high class neighborhood.

I'd just go with Minnie at this point. Cal is likely to be a tire fire for a while yet, and Iowa is no place for a running back concerned about his health. Minnie at least is finally a program on the way up.
November 21st, 2012 at 11:33 AM ^
Not if you ask AJ Barker...
November 21st, 2012 at 11:41 AM ^
Minnesota is where other tire fires go to learn how to become more tire fiery.
November 21st, 2012 at 12:25 PM ^
More and more and more tire fiery:
What could possibly go wrong?

you care about something other than football. Cal's a good school. I'd rather go there than Minn, no offense to any gophers.
November 21st, 2012 at 12:20 PM ^
Definitely. Cal is a nicer landing spot than 90% of the schools out there, if you are looking beyond football.
November 21st, 2012 at 11:37 AM ^
Ugh. What we need is more involvement with that family.

please?

-Braylon's career mission to make as large an embarassment of himself as he possibly can, by displaying the most amount of mouthiness combined with the least amount of actual production possible.
-Father and Son's public hissy-fit when Rich Rod dared to suggest that someone other than a WR might get #1.
-Their repeated radio-calls to WTKA to complain about Rich Rod as a result.
-The way their loyalty was so easily bought the moment Rich gave into them.
-Their public championing of Berkley to get an offer, suggesting that not doing so would be an act of disloyalty on Michigan's part.
If I never hear a word from Braylon or Stan Edwards again, that would be peachy.

He's fast and since Norfleet didn't redshirt, it'd be nice to have another potential play-maker in the pipeline. We seem well stocked with tall WRs and power RBs in the last two classes, so a kid like Edwards would be a nice addition.
Obviously he's not a priority, but if things fall through with the elite guys, I'll be rooting for him to come to Michigan, just like Norfleet - another local backup plan.
November 21st, 2012 at 11:58 AM ^
We have a redshirt freshman Hayes and a true freshman Norfleet to fill those scatback roles. We don't need a stable full of backs like that when Hoke/Borges clearly want to put bruisers on the field.
November 21st, 2012 at 11:46 AM ^
who knows, maybe he is waiting it out till the end and if Michigan has 1 left....
how many running backs we got offers to
I know were waiting on Green but if he don't come than what
November 21st, 2012 at 11:54 AM ^
The we still don't offer Berkley Edwards.

Godwin Igwebuike seems to be higher on the list than Edwards.
Also, the coaches have supposedly told the Edwards family that they don't really foresee him getting recruited by Michigan. They've basically said thanks, but no thanks.
November 21st, 2012 at 1:34 PM ^
He's the backup option for McQuay. Delano Hill is a possibility too.
November 21st, 2012 at 1:47 PM ^
"He's the backup option for McQuay."
I do not think that's the case.
November 21st, 2012 at 11:58 AM ^
a strong, fast North/South runner. I think he could fit in here. I hope the coaching staff at least tries to get him to walk on here.
November 21st, 2012 at 12:00 PM ^
I really doubt he's going to walk on at Michigan when he has other BCS conference offers.
November 21st, 2012 at 12:09 PM ^
Depends on whether money is an issue and whether or not he can stay humble about a situation. My guess is no on the first part. I don't know the kid, so I can't speak to the second.
November 21st, 2012 at 1:48 PM ^
Despite being slightly famous, I don't know that Stan Edwards and Co. would want to spend the money it takes to attend Michigan without a scholarship. That's a large chunk of change for anyone, especially when he has an option to go somewhere else for free.
November 21st, 2012 at 3:05 PM ^
Ya, but his brother pays a lot of money for scholarships and I think he would fork it out. He's rich ya know.
