Iowa pulls offer to Chelsea's Berkley Edwards

Submitted by CalJr3000 on

According to Scout.com, Iowa pulled their scholarship offer to Braylon's little brother Berkley Edwards.

"They said if Berkley didn't choose Iowa by now, he wasn't coming," Stan Edwards said in a text message.

Stan Edwards said on Monday that he and his family were waiting to see what happened with the coaching situations at the schools he was considering - Iowa, Cal and Minnesota. The Bears fired Jeff Tedford a day later.

It looks like the Gophers or a MAC offer for the 2013 Chelsea (MI) High running back unless Cal stays with the recruitment.

I know Michigan doesn't have any serious interest in him at this point, but hopefully he ends up at a quality school where he can get some playing time.  He definitely put up some nice numbers for Chelsea the last couple years.

Like Norfleet but faster. And then we could have a 'BerkleyFest' against MSU to look forward to. Obvs

yeah, but he has a skill set that is in high enough demand that he's unlikely to want to walk on.  i'm sure he's prideful and thinks he's deserving of a scholarship somewhere.  he probably would be more likelty to take it than walk on.  i also suspect that as february nears and teams know which prospects they're really in on, other schools will offer berkley.

As Mambo No. 5, Who Let the Dogs Out, the Macarena, etc...semi-catchy song (in this case, kind of hilarious video) that hits the tipping point and goes viral. Though I admit that Macarena came out before videos really went "viral" on the internet. But same idea. Maybe throw "Cotton Eyed Joe" in there as well.

Although at least Gangnam Style came from another country, unlike some of the others on the list.

I'd just go with Minnie at this point.  Cal is likely to be a tire fire for a while yet, and Iowa is no place for a running back concerned about his health.  Minnie at least is finally a program on the way up.

-Braylon's career mission to make as large an embarassment of himself as he possibly can, by displaying the most amount of mouthiness combined with the least amount of actual production possible.

-Father and Son's public hissy-fit when Rich Rod dared to suggest that someone other than a WR might get #1.

-Their repeated radio-calls to WTKA to complain about Rich Rod as a result.

-The way their loyalty was so easily bought the moment Rich gave into them.

-Their public championing of Berkley to get an offer, suggesting that not doing so would be an act of disloyalty on Michigan's part.

If I never hear a word from Braylon or Stan Edwards again, that would be peachy.

He's fast and since Norfleet didn't redshirt, it'd be nice to have another potential play-maker in the pipeline.  We seem well stocked with tall WRs and power RBs in the last two classes, so a kid like Edwards would be a nice addition.

Obviously he's not a priority, but if things fall through with the elite guys, I'll be rooting for him to come to Michigan, just like Norfleet - another local backup plan.

Godwin Igwebuike seems to be higher on the list than Edwards.

Also, the coaches have supposedly told the Edwards family that they don't really foresee him getting recruited by Michigan.  They've basically said thanks, but no thanks.

a strong, fast North/South runner.  I think he could fit in here.  I hope the coaching staff at least tries to get him to walk on here.

Despite being slightly famous, I don't know that Stan Edwards and Co. would want to spend the money it takes to attend Michigan without a scholarship.  That's a large chunk of change for anyone, especially when he has an option to go somewhere else for free.
