Important Recruiting Weekend, hope they like snow!

Not much of a post, just had to knock that Patrick Omameh BS post off the ticker. Actually, is seems that we have had uncooperative weather for several recruiting weekends this year. What's up with that?

Travante Stallworth is at the airport right now. He's excited. I asked him if he thinks he'll commit if he has a good weekend. He said no, he'll probably take it all in then talk to his parents. I told him this was probably a good idea, and to take his time. I think more kids should do this, rather than just jumping the gun because they had fun. If they know it's the right school, then don't hesitate to commit. In his case, he's unsure of what he should do, and I really think it would be beneficial to everyone if he takes his time.

Dammit Tom, don't tell him its a good idea to wait. I'm not saying force it, but don't tell him to wait. There are at around 13.7 people who will be unhappy on Monday if they don't have a bright, shiny, new Stallworth commitment waiting in their RSS feed box.

That and I'd rather not see any more Decomitments. I know that Weis is loving the Peace decomitment. This is a big recruiting weekend.....what is it going to take to get some of these guys to commit. Forcier, Cambell and Vlad the Impailer will they also be able to help sway guys?

I'm not sure it is safe to give Vlad Emilien the nickname of Vlad the Impailer. What if he doesn't turn out to be a hard hitter? What if he's a sneaky SOB that gets lots of picks, or is like Stevie Brown and just seems not existant on the field? Then shouldn't he go be Emilien the Chameleon. Just a thought.

I'm not trying to stir anything up or suggest anything. But is it a possible recruiting violation if you call up a kid and suggest that he go to Michigan? I mean, when you have these conversations, do you suggest that they become a Wolverine or are you as objective as possible? This thought just popped into my head, and I'm curious.

Yes, it's definitely a violation if I tell him to go to Michigan. I have to be as objective as possible. I want all of them to go to the school that fits them. I hope that school is Michigan, but I'm not going to put that on them. I actually don't talk to a lot of them about football. They're 16-18 year old kids that have been engulfed with football, and a lot of times they're sick of talking about it. If we do talk about football, I just let them talk. If they have a general question about recruiting I help them, but I try to stay even with everything. My interviews might seem like they're a little bias, because they are. I ask questions about Michigan, because that's what we all care about.

Would it be a violation to offer them use of your corvette for prom? I say no. Honest Q (similar to the one just asked): any idea if the kids coming up are looking FORWARD to the weather? I remember recruits in the past commenting on enjoying seeing snow for the first time (contrast that with a kid like Hosley who's gone on record as not looking forward to northern weather). Just curious.

I haven't heard of anything. Most, if not all of them, will be leaving today. As long as the weather is ok today they should be fine. As far as deterring them, it depends on which kid you're talking about. Some of these visits are weird to me, like Marcus Hall. I'm not sure the intentions of some of them, if they really want to visit, or if they're just coming to see a different place. It's hard to say.

I hope we can get at least one guy out of this weekend, I'm hearing growing rumors that we'll be seeing Dequinta Jones walk out the door soon.

BTW, Scout is reporting that all the recruits made it in except for Hall, and he's on the way. Getting to Detroit from Cleveland isn't really a problem on a plane, even with the weather.
