If Harbaugh wants to come

Submitted by SFBayAreaBlue on

It obvious that RR only cares about offense, the special teams and defense are just putrid.  I said if he got 6 wins he'd earn another year.  But if harbaugh wants to come now, we should give him the job.  I'm writing this with 2 minutes to go in the half down by 17.  Hopefully there will be karmic justice that makes me eat these words and we pull out an amazing comeback.  But we suck.

We can't kick, we can't cover kicks, we have poorly coached, undisciplined freelancers on defense, our best receiver can't catch a cold ball, and our best runner is a twig who keeps getting hurt and dropping the ball.

Switching head coaches now will be another painful transition.  But I'm almost an old man now and i'm looking more at the longterm.  RR is not a long term answer.  I wouldn't mind giving him the OC job.  But I doubt he'd take the demotion  Anyway, if we switch wake me up in 4 years when he have a chance of being a good team again.

How can we be raking up all these yards, and yet we're consistently playing with a two score deficit? WTF? You'd think that all these yards would turn into points sooner or later, WTF?

beating a team with a winning record in the conference

reducing turnovers

getting even slightly better on defense

being able to attempt a FG

have a winning record in the conference

None of these things are progress because none of them have occurred, just saying.

Today, the defense has played OK and the offense, minus the five drops and two fumbles is OK too.  Still only seven points in one half, eerily similar to MSU and Iowa.

If we have a kicker thats at least 6 points on the first two drives. If we had hagerup, you can take away that osu td, and if we have a kick coverage team thats another osu td. If we had a decent special teams alone this game would be 13-10 Michigan would be winning and that's not even talking about the offense mistakes. Then again if my aunt had balls she would be my uncle.

... but man, that's a lot of ifs.  I think the anti-RR crowd is just tired of the "ifs" and they are airing their frustration.

I understand that frustration -- I want to murder Roy Roundtree and whatever theorem it is that states Denard Robinson must turn the ball over after Roundtree drops a pass -- but I just don't think switching head coaches is the right move.  Give the man his four years.

you really dont see that our team has made a big leap in improvement each season?

btw, here are harbaugh's first three seasons at stanford

4-8

5-7

8-5

get over it you jerk, when lloyd left and we got rich rod everyone knew there was gonna be a transition. we have a winning record and a bowl game. we have lowerclassmen running the best offense in the big10. our defense can only get better. and remember we lost our entire secondary to injuries/nfl draft. if we had woolfolk and warren our team would be fighting for the big10 championship.

RR's not going anywhere, get used to it.

we would not be competing for the B10 championship is we hd woolfolk and warren.  The fact of the matter is that we had plenty of miscues on offense in all of the following games: MSU, Iowa, Wisky, OSU.  That's still 4 losses there in the big 10.  So, no, we would not be fighting for the big 10 championship with Wolfolk and Warren.

I heard that Harbaugh actually runs out on to the field and catches the balls for his WR's, can heal dislocated ankles and can make his player's age faster.

I really don't understand how RR's teams these last 3 years seem to be absolutely horrible at holding on to the ball.  It just boggles my mind.  I really couldn't give a shit less that our offense has 260 yards at the half because we only have 7 points to show for it!  We better come out of the locker room and be focused because I don't see us winning this game without scoring on every drive in the second half.  Just like almost every week we dug ourselves a huge fucking hole in the first half.  Maybe we can come back all the way this time...

Smallish, Quick people trying to run through 250 lb+ plus defenders consistently. Physics says its going to fail miserably. Why smallish, quick people? RR recruits them and puts them on the field.

One day, I may eat those words. Right now, it's like a fast.

Harbaugh went to a school that was horrible for many years and coming off a 1-10 year to boot.  Stanford's football program does not have the prestige and history that Michigan has thus making it much harder to recruit. (as a side note, the academic requirements to be accepted into Stanford is very high just like Michigan so it did not do Harbaugh any favors in that regard)

I have to admit, our defense is holding its own in one sense, but seem to be on the verge of a complete meltdown on so many plays.  Kovacs is playing well and the D-line is doing pretty well, but Avery(Freshman) is out of position and over running everything.

What the HELL did Hagerup do to get suspended?  I knows he's a freshman, but to poke the bear on the eve of the OSU game, HELLO?!?!

He is retired, but is a commentator, is rumoured to be looking to get back into coaching, and was already rumoured to be approached by Colorado, etc.  Would ease a transition to someone like Harbaugh would require, and last time he coached in Michigan stadium, his team actually executed.

Sorry...I don't even care if it's Harbaugh...just get what I'm watching out of here. I'm done with Rich. I can't support a team I know will lose. This second half will be even worse! Just accept it already...game over man!

I am convinced that we will be better with RR next year than with Denard and Roundree running a power O.  That said, sometime we can't keep saying that -- we haven't been decent in three years.  No one imagined we could be this bad, transition or not.  So I'm torn right now.  If I were AD, the decision would wait until after (and probably hinge on) the bowl game

The thing that sucks is there is no window to where we'll be in a few years. There is so little that brings comfort that we'll be even competitive with good Big Ten teams.  We're just hoping and that isn't Michigan Football.

AMazinBlue

the turnovers continue and we're still recruiting 3-stars and projects.  We haven't beaten a team in the conference with a winning record in two years.  It's progress like falling down is "going forward."

It makes sense to wait to make any coaching decision until after the season, including the insight.com bowl (or whatever it is)... then I'm confident DB will make the right decision whatever that is!

Rich Rod and his staff will be putting their keys on DB's desk after this one. As much as I would like to see this experiment work, it's just not meant to be. 3 years no signature wins, a offense that is dangerous at times but doesn't show-up when it needs to, and the defense speaks for itself. LATER BRAH!!!!
