Lewan got a tweet from the Space Emperor himself about his decision.
The power. Space bitches. Space.

Seeing as Taylor followed his heart, Hollis probably approves

I'm surprised it has taken this long, but this is the best Lewan staying comment yet.

Why not a basketball-themed banner at least for the next few months?

I was going to agree, but then I looked at the current banner and it has a picture of Denard (Or Vincent Smith wearing a Navarre jersey). Given the time of year, I say we use a basketball theme.

I feel like this kept coming up when people were tracking Denard's ultimate breaking of the FBS record for QB rushing: There's nothing wrong with fans appreciating or celebrating individual players, and there's nothing wrong with fans getting excited about players breaking statistical records. Yes, any player worth his salt will put the team and winning above any individual recognition or achievement, but there's no reason that we as fans can't get excited about it, recognize it, or celebrate it.
I'm not attacking you specifically, it's just that there's a very predictable bit of finger wagging that will pop up when people on the board are excited about meaningless records or want to recognize individuals. We're fans, our love for Lewan does not interfere with his focus on the team.

Well said. One interesting aspect that I think a lot of hardcore fans like us fail to appreciate is that its individual players that spark interest in the team and create fans of that team. For example, I'm sure hundreds of young kids watched Michigan to see Denard play. And maybe they had a good experience and became Michigan fans for life. I think its great to honor individuals knowing that the love for the team itself always underlies this individual focus. Hell, I became a Barcelona fan from first wanting to see Messi play and then realizing how great it was watching the team in general.
In other words, I think its great that we have standard bearers that we single out and recognize even above the team itself sometimes.

I wonder what a close-up of his finger w/ the stache (in the place where Denard's helmet currently resumes) would look like? Anyone with photoshop skills wanna give it a whirl?
P.S. I think a Lewan banner might be a nice temporary statement but I'd love to see something basketball related takeover during this seemingly groundbreaking season.

Just as a reminder that M hockey is not a complete dumpster fire.

If Brian is done with this year's hockey team (at least in print), I don't think we'll see them featured in the banner anytime soon.

Perhaps include a twosie in there somewhere too.

Burke breaking ankles with a crossover? Or some such pic. It's hoops season now. The banner can always be changed to Lewan this summer in another 6 months before football season starts.

How about Lewan lifting Denard???

Recieved this picture at xmas, love it.

...has my full support!

I'd be in favor of that for the next couple of weeks - but then I think we should go with a basketball theme.

I want to see our starting OL from left to right on the banner!
January 10th, 2013 at 8:37 PM ^
... Lewan dating Miss Michigan. Brent Musberger approves- too much. Kirk Herbstreit swallows his tongue. Obama and John Boehner seen riding a twosie in DC. William Gholston undeclares for the NFL for another shot at Lewan. What does any of this have to do with new banner- nothing! Time for my meds! GO BLUE!!!
January 10th, 2013 at 9:55 PM ^
Amen!
January 10th, 2013 at 11:42 PM ^
in celebration of lewan coming back i think we should put a picture of the william gholston "incident" up on the banner.
