There is a paper trail. - That did in Tressel.

There are allegations of AD employees personally making the payments.  - The NCAA has more power to make them testify, unlike the typical bagmen.

Tunsil was possibly paid with university funds. - It's something that the university investigation should uncover unless it's designed not to. Coverups get punished more harshly than the initial offense.

While Tunsil can't be compelled to testify, current players might be.

Ole Miss has refused to release the NCAA notice. I can't recall that happening elsewhere.

I won't guess how this will end up, but if I was a fan of theirs, I'd be plenty worried.

This does not border comedy.  This is the capital of comedy.

Hey, Hugh...If you say things enough times they do, indeed, become true.  Just ask OJ

I am shocked that this wasn't discovered sooner. Their cheating has been so blatant.

I actually liked the last paragraph, in which the author said that Ole Miss became good because of it's "sudden ability to recruit elite athletes." Yeah! Wow, I wonder how that happened.

Pease 6lb 8oz baby Jesus, I don't ask you for much.  Can you make sure the NCAA finds so much dirt at Ole Miss that it's impossible to ignore?  And if they do try to ignore it, make sure all the evidence is leaked to the press.  I know how much hypocrisy bothers you.

Thanks.  I'll try to go to church this Sunday.  Sober.

You find it criminal that the head coach at Stanford is credited for the continued success of Stanford?

I know you're trying to turn this into a slight against Harbaugh, but Shaw has won 3 Pac titles in 5 years.  3 Rose Bowls and a Fiesta Bowl appearance.  He's something like 54-12.  All without Jim Harbaugh.  At what point do you admit that Shaw might have something to do with it?

Right?  The story even said as much, crediting this season to Shaw while saying that nobody - NOBODY - is left from Harbaugh's player group.  Yes, David Shaw was setup for success by Harbaugh and a Stanford organization that realized it didn't need to change a thing.  But he's done a credible job sustaining it himself.

No part of that article is saying Shaw's job was harder than Harbaugh's, or that Harbaugh doesn't deserve credit for building the program.

It's saying Shaw is doing a great job... which he is.

For some reason, both you and Yoda seem to think this article is a Shaw vs. Harbaugh comparison.

they state facts about winning the orange bowl and all the draft picks like they're attributed to shaw. how many of those draft picks did he recruit?

Shaw was on the staff.  You tell me how many he recruited.

Regardless of your answer, they're talking about the complete run of Stanford dominance - INCLUDING Harbaugh and now under Shaw.  The whole thing.  So all of the recruits that went to the NFL under this period of success count.  All of them, regardless who their head coach was.  It's celebrating Stanford, not comparing the last two coaches.

Harbaugh built Stanford in 4 years and then promptly left for the nfl. I have more faith that Harbaugh would have done what Shaw did from 2011-2015 than Shaw building a 1-11 team into a 12-1 team in 4 years. If you're going to do a 10 year view of Stanford, Harbaugh was the one who made Stanford into Stanford.

Unfortunately, we'll never know if Shaw could've transformed from 1-11 to 12-1, and we'll actually never know if Harbaugh could've matched Shaw's success.  (I mean, he's Harbaugh, so of course, but it still can't be proven.)

Regardless, that's not the point.  Shaw is the coach.  His current roster has no ties to Harbaugh.  He's winning the conference at an unprecedented rate.  And while he's doing this, Jim Harbaugh was coaching in the NFL and at Michigan.  It's Shaw's team.  He deserves credit for every single win the last 5 years -- which is exactly what the article is stating.

It doesn't say that David Shaw took Stanford from doormat to contender.  It says Harbaugh did that.  Apparently you're not reading that part.  Harbaugh did not stick around and lead Stanford to sustained success.  David Shaw did that.  And they're giving him deserved credit.

Is you can google " SEC paying players" and you will get pages of stories of current and former players saying they were paid, given gifts, etc... They are admitting it outright !! What is ou won't find is any NCAA investigations looking into it. How this is allowed to go on and on is unbelievable.

He's got kids getting hospitalized for synthetic weed and falling out of windows. One of his players successfully using drugs on video is actually a step in the right direction for them.

"Give us a good report" and "find the facts" as euphemisms for "prepare a risk management strategy" and "identify fall guy" respectively.

Shocked means it happens "right then, right now" not 10 days after the fact. That is more of an after-shock.  You don't come from absolutely nowhere and post a massive class without something being askew.

It'd be nice if Ross encouraged him to be forthcoming with the NCAA. Doubt that would happen, since both the NCAA and NFL profit from maintaining "amateurism", but it would be nice.

Hugh Freeze is just as "suprised" as Pete Bell was when Butch came and talked to him in the movie Bluechips. I've seen this show too many times and already know how it goes.
