How much do you really hate ohio?

Submitted by UMxWolverines on

Some people say the Michigan-ohio rivalry is only one sport, but it definitely isn't to me. I hope those shitheads lose in every single game they play in every sport (unless it somehow helps Michigan). I've even seen people on here say they'd root for ohio over Sparty in basketball. Are you kidding me? Ohio is the enemy always.

Players and coaches should always have intensity for a Michigan vs OSU game in anything, but fans and alumni need to learn that the best way to truly drive them Buckeyes nuts is to ignore them the rest of the year....What got OSU back was Tressel recruiting better talent while we slipped in terms of talent in the late Carr years and RR years....

I would blow someone before I pulled for Ohio, and neither will happen (easy Urban) . Sparty fans pretending to be M fans may say that in basketball. That is total bullshit! Sparty is way behind ohlio and ND. I hate Ohio less than Bin Laden since he is dead now, before his death Bin Laden had a slight edge.

I don't really hate the state itself, but I thoroughly despise Ohio State as well as their fans. I hate that they have inexplicably had our number for a decade. Every fiber of my being hopes they lose every game by 40+. It would be pure euphoria for me to watch Jake Ryan come off of Braxton Miller's blindside, and drill his ass into the ground so hard that Braxton forgets who he is for 10 minutes. I wouldn't wish injury on him, but watching him lie on the ground would be beautiful.

Having said all that, I do respect them. As far as little brother goes, I more pity them than dislike them, and my respect level for them is minimal to zero.

Cost of loss to MSU or OSU - MSU is worse because they are not just your little brother. They are your little brother's annoying friend who is going to fuck with you until you kick the crap out of him. He also knows that you don't have a chance to do that for a full year. OSU is full grown. Losing to them hurts but not like Sparty
Benefit of victory over MSU or OSU - OSU is a better feeling by far. When we beat them we know that we have overcome a machine. They are always capable of inflicting pain. When we win it is always an accomplishment (rather than expected with MSU).

I remember sitting in Yost a few weeks after we'd beaten Ohio and turning to my buddy next to me and saying, "You know, the winter is so much better when we've beaten Ohio".  He smiled and agreed.

I couldn't care less about Sparty.  I'm completely confident that the historical trend in that series will continue into the future, despite all the false bravado being spouted by Dantonio and the mouth breathers on the RCMB.  Star rankings matter, and the difference in talent has equated to MSU only winning 30% of the time againt MIchigan.  That ain't gonna change folks.

I was talking about the acute effect of a win/loss over/against OSU or MSU. In the long run there is absolutely nothing like a win over OSU. A loss to Sparty, although acutely painful for the reasons above, is forgotten relatively quickly.

How much do I hate Ohio? A whole lot. Whenever driving, I try to avoid the state. If I must drive through it, I only stop to take a shit, since the state is only good for a sewer. I do not think of Ohians as people and wish the worst upon the state. I have emailed the governor and congressman to annex Cedar Point, since it is too good for Ohio. I always root against that damn school and all schools in Ohio (except when playing OSU). I only root for Ohio when it directly helps Michigan (like against MSU last year. I hate Ohio.

My whole family is from Ohio, but my dad and his brothers & sisters (all 12 of them) all moved to Michigan and worked in the auto factories. So, I was born in Trenton and grew up in Carleton as a buckeye fan (yup, it's true). When my dad retired from GM we moved to SE Ohio. I was harassed constantly for being from Michigan. I could not convince them that I was an ohio fan. When your are an adolescent male, any type of teasing is too much. When our football team got together to watch a Michigan vs ohio game, no one would sit near me. When UM won, no one would talk to me. That was it. I left the dark side and never looked back. I know it killed my dad, but believe it or not he completely understood. I don't bust his balls too much, and neither does he. Actually, most of my family and friends are reasonable buckeye fans. Some are insane and they are all delusional, but I can avoid most of the assholes by living in south Florida.

They're bigotry towards us is so stupid for so many reasons. I would ever and have never been an OSU fan or supporter and never will. Fuck Ohio St. Went to cedar point today and UM and MSU fans (sadly) dominated the attendance. But seriously there is nothing here in Ohio that is really enjoying or any fun. Wright Patterson museum and Neil Armstrong Hall of game along with COSI however are amazing

...I bought a t-shirt that says so...free shipping.

EDIT: When I am driving and someone in front of me has their turn indicator on and has an Ohio license plate frame...I speed up.

How has this thread gone this long without a reference to Monty Python's "The Life of Brian"? The board is slipping tonight. Can't embed the video from my ipadfor some reason but here you go:

"How much do you hate the Romans?
I hate them a lot.
Do you really hate them?
Yes.
But do you really hate them a lot?
Yes.
How much?"
Or something to that affect. It's late. I'm tired. Good night.

I loved it last weekend when my 5-yr old daughter saw the lax commercials on espn and looked at me and said, "Daddy we have to cheer for that Cornell team because they're playing Ohio State!" I laughed and rejoiced in my proud daddy moment!

Was generally amazing as a teen. It was the 90s and we were whooping their ass and I knew more UM fans than osu fans. By FAR! I move away Junior year and 5 years later half the UM fans were osu fans, lol. So, aside from my true friends (fandom regardless as I still credit a good friend for being the only diehard osu fan then and now) the people are a joke. As for the team, never want to see them win at anything. Ever. Unless it helped us somehow. I'm not Dantonio crazy.

I am a born Clevelander who's grown up a Michigan fan my entire life. But it always cracks me up seeing Michiganders talk about how much Ohio is a piece of garbage when the grand city of Detroit lies within their boarders. What else does the state have, Flint? The Michigan Militia? What makes Michigan this city upon a hill compared to Ohio?

I know some Ohioans act the same way, but come on people, just grow up. Both sides. I love U of M athletics, but I also love my hometown of Cleveland as well.

I refuse to shop at Ohio-based businesses when given the choice. For instance, I will not go to Kroger (Ohio company) and always shop at Meijer (Michigan Co).

Fuck Ohio and their toll roads. To get off their damn toll road to go take a dump at McD's cost me $2.00

However, I do love Cedar Point. But, that is it

I have so much hatred for Ohio. I can not watch any game that they are winning, even if it helped us.

In 1997 I wrestled in the Ohio tournament of champions (essentially nationals for those not yet in high school), located in Columbus. I visited the shoe. I wrote "go blue" in beautiful maize all over one of the pillars. I also urinated on the awful wooden seats.

I would do it again.

but as soon as I could walk & talk (2) I convinced my parents to move back north.

I don't hate the people, but I was raised with Bob Ufer's truck drivers quote and traveling throughout the state for the past 48 yrs it's seemed pretty accurate for OSU fans.

Ohio's economy is better, and it has some decent cities, but there is nothing comparable to Michigan's 3000+ miles of Great Lakes coastal geography, and the hundreds of unique towns along it.

Makes Ohio look like the giant hog farm it actually is.

no offense of course.

Never spend a time in that piece of shit state when driving through, and I always save my trash and discard it out the window while saying "Go Blue"

Does anyone else find the story behind the MADE IN USA - NOT IN OHIO footballs to be strange?  Nobody seems to know the source and the footballs are made overseas in China.

Is this shenanigans and a failed troll of OHIO?
