How many people will be at this weekend's spring game?

Submitted by ThadMattasagoblin on

The weather is supposed to be good and there will be a lot of intrigue about the new players. I think that we can get 60,000 there on Saturday. We still got 35,000 on a cold friday night at 6 pm last year.

My guess is that the weather turns it into a 60,000-ish event (maybe we don't quite get there because it is Easter weekend), which would be great.

I'll be there too, which is even better for me - exactly zero people will care beyond that, of course. Puppy Pre-School graduation in the morning and then the Spring Game and then reading all the unfounded conclusions that will undoubtedly come out of the afternoon.

I hope the city of Ann Arbor has realized they need to treat this like a Saturday in the fall. In 2015, even thought there was 60k not 110k traffic was atrocious because they didn't use their normal traffic flow procedures. it took me hours to get home

It's very unfortunate that they can't arrange for the baseball game to be played later than 2:00 pm that day.  It's game 3 of an extremely important series for Michigan--their only games against a top 20 team left on the schedule.

I assume Oklahoma heads back home on Saturday night, so they weren't willing to play at 4:00 or 6:00.  But still, it's a very annoying conflict for the handful of us who are going to the baseball game.

I still remember the 1978 (I think, or maybe '77) Saturday where Rick Leach played the first half of the spring game and then went to Fisher Stadium and played in the second game of a Big Ten baseball doubleheader.

Hopefully the rain holds off.  But, the warm temperature will be the highest I can remember.  Whatever the attendance is, it's almost always overstated.  They don't seem to have any accurate way of counting the crowd so it's always this eyeball guesstimate.

I'd say with beautiful weather we can hit 50k. I'm making the trip for my first spring game. Any advice on parking? Do places like Pioneer still charge gameday prices?

Driving up from Stafford, VA, Friday; game on Saturday; return drive Sunday. Rain or shine, this family of three will be there. Would've been a fourth family member, but she's on campus at Michigan Tech and school stuff prevents her from traveling.

Go Blue!!! (and Huskies, too!!!)

I do not know. I guess we will see about how many people will be there when the time comes on Saturday. I doubt the exact number will be known.

for as much as everyone on here loves Michigan football, it's crazy to read how reluctant some of the locals are to go to the Spring game!

If I lived locally I would go every year!

"Daddy are you going to yell at the TV and stomp around like you do all the time?"

No sweetie, Michigan is guaranteed to win today!

They're still skeptical.

We're actually driving in from Syracuse with the kids for the game.  As part of the Kids Go Blue Club they can go down on the field after the game.  I'm not sure who is more excited about that - me or the kids!

Despite living up here in East Landfill, and losing my 7 year old daughter to my wife's alma mater (Sparty), I was somehow able to get my 5 year old son to share in my love for UM, my alma mater.  Even though he gets ribbed by his school friends, the kid regularly rocks his Jake Butt replica jersey and Michigan hat without hesitation (you should see the looks he gets from MSU students, it's hilarious).  That said, I just enrolled him in the Kids Go Blue Club, but didn't see anything about club members having access to the field after the game.  Where did you find out about this?  Maybe it's a regular thing, which would explain why it's not heavily advertised.  Any insight would be appreciated.

I'll hang up now and listen.

My daughter and I will be there and then staying the night at Weber's Inn to swim and wake up and have brunch.  Has anybody stayed at Weber's?  Looks beautiful!

Even though I'm happy to be living here with an ocean view, I miss Ann Arbor.

Great memories. Glad to see the city doing so well.

I too will be there, with five of my favorite M fans from Bowling Green.  Hoping the weather is in fact what they are forecasting.  Should be fun

Going with my wife and daughter. Heading down tomorrow and staying at a hotel for the night as a mini getaway. Up early and maybe a little tailgating. Nothing like a cold beer before going into the big house.

Hey guys, heading to my first spring game tommorow and me and a few buddies were wondering how is the tailgate for it? We understand it wont be anything compared to the golf course on a typical fall saturday home game, but we just wanted to know the best spot to go to park and what time if we wanted to get some tailgating in tomorrow.
