This whole thing makes me so sad.  I was angry at first, but this is so sad.  I really do feel compassion for Hoke.  Be it that he's in over his head or dumb or malicious or all three or any combo, it's got to suck for him to fail this hard at his dream job. Just ick.

Utah just lost at home to Washington St. who as 1-3 going into the game and their one win was against Portland State. I know a mid-season release of a coach is one thing the UM high ups probably don't want to do but what good does it do to let Hoke continue? How bad does it have to get? Will an ablsolute bludgeoning in East Lansing do the trick? MSU is looking for style points and is running up their scores now that they have a loss. If this team gets emasculated at MSU how in hell can someone not do something?

At this point I'm actually worried about the players' physical wellbeing in the MSU game. Shane got beat up playing against Minny. Shane, DG, and Bellomy's missing helmet will end up in the hospital after the MSU game. I'm really not being dramatic.

To be fair, Washington State isn't nearly as bad as their record indicates.  They hung tough with Rutgers for a tight loss, and they gave Oregon a really really tough game and nearly played spoiler there.  I can't explain the Nevada loss, but overall WSU just needs things to finally click and they'll win games.  They *should* have a winning record by the end of the year.

MSU has not been running up the scores.

Cook has been pulled in first quarter against Eastern and Wyoming.  Five quarterbacks played in Eastern game including suiting up waterboy.

However, don't look for MSU to pull its first teams against Michigan.

MSU susceptible to long ball.

"To start out the third quarter, Shane was almost sacked in the endzone, threw a pick six and then fumbled deep in your own territory in three consecutive series, did you still think that he gave you the best option for winning the game?"

I told myself that I would change the channel if Morris came back for another series after that sequence.  He did.  I did.  As a result, I missed all the commotion regarding "the hit" live but I've caught up with it repeatedly since then.  I just don't know how Morris was still in the game at that point.  What was Hoke trying to prove?

One PR professionals evaluation:

Brutal.

You can argue many different PR strategies. Reveal it all, hold back unless asked, etc. What you can not argue is the need to be prepared.

1) Hoke did not have a sound consistent answer to the Shane quesitons other than not being 100% aware of everything and he wanted to play.

2) Hoke did not convey a unified organization. ex. The doctors report would explain everything and it will come out sometime, Haven't spoken with Brandon, Has spoken with Shane but did not communicate that he was ok.

3) When in a position to be in control, Be in control. Too many times Hoke answered with not being aware or other pieces of the organization being responsible and they could speak for themselves.

This presser would be categorized in the brutal category.

But the thing here is that the tone and tenor of this fits in 100% with how Dave Fucking Brandon has chosen to handle every single dumb ass, tone deaf, contrived, cheap fucking stunt that he's had to walk back throughout his tenure. I absolutely loathe this administration in a way I never thought possible.

If the school was seriously looking at replacing Hoke, there is absolutely no way he does that press conference today. The fact that Brandon or anyone else in the PR department wasnt there to field any questions shows this is a total non issue at Michigan.

Ramogi Huma, executive director of the National College Players Association, said the Michigan situation highlights inaction by the NCAA and Big Ten and the need for independent concussion experts on the sideline with the power to pull a player.

"Coaches are too caught up in the game, they're too caught up in winning," Huma said. "There's a conflict of interest. We shouldn't leave that to the discretion of a coach who's paid millions of dollars. What Coach Hoke did is not even against NCAA rules. If that player stumbled off the sideline half conscious and got paid $10 for signing an autograph, the NCAA would have made sure he wasn't allowed back into the game."

Huma has been leading efforts for Northwestern football players to form a union and be legally declared employees.

"What independent doctor in America would have put that player back in the game?" Huma said. "Not one. But Michigan did. That is a problem. It could be life or death. We saw with (former Frostburg State football player) Derek Sheely. The same thing happened, but the public didn't see it. Coaches kept him in practice and he's dead. This is life and death."

Wait a minute...this is confusing.

1) Hoke says in his presser on Friday that he never saw anything wrong with Shane.

2) The video tape contradicts this as the Ref clearly sees it and asks Hoke if he wants a TO.  Hoke refuses.

3) The university issues that CYA statement last night not acknowledging the head shot.

4) So today Hoke says that he and Nuss noticed Shane limping around?

I didnt listen to today's presser...but is that correct?

If so, my response is:  More Lying.  Hoke is flat out lying out of his ass and now doesnt know what he is saying, just more CYA.

*** If we are to believe that they noticed Shane limping and did nothing about it....then is that not endangering a defenseless player by leaving him in, BEFORE the head shot???!!!!

Its time for a boycott.  I dont have season tickets any more, we used to...now I live in CA.

If I had them, I would burn them and not sell them to Penn State fans.

Let 40,000 show up for that game.... fuck it.

And Nuss conveniently forgets Shane's state of mind.

How fucking convenient.

Doug Nussmeier, the team's offensive coordinator, said he saw Morris limping after the play and asked if he was OK, only to have the quarterback wave him off.

Nussmeier said he didn't see the actual hit and could not recall Morris' state of mind or specifics about their conversation after Morris came to the sideline.
