Hoe much do you trust Don Brown?

Don Brown was the main reason Michigan lost The Game, B1G division and a CFP spot last year.  The offense came to play and scored enough to win. The #1 defense up to that point was an utter mess.

OSU gained 8.46 yards per play. Twice what the UM defense gave up in the other games. It was also the highest ypp OSU put up all last year. Just above the offensive beat down a horrible 2-win Oregon State team in their first game. The OSU offense was good, but not that good.

The Michigan defense was COMPLETELY CONFUSED and SURPRISED.  Michigan had a solid defense with lots of NFL talent, but they were absolutely unprepared for the OSU attack.  No idea what to expect or how to respond. That is all about coaching. It was crazy. They looked worse than Rutgers.

In response, Don Brown has revised his defensive strategy.  He again has a very good defense with lots of talent. He has been "up nights" thinking about The Game.

Does it work? Can Michigan hold them under 20 points?

Remember: In 2017 PSU torched his defense in Happy Valley. They put up over 500 yards and nearly 50 points.  Brown had a similar "up at night" reaction and the next year his defense held PSU to 182 yards in Ann Arbor.  Was that Brown (or the loss of Barkley by PSU)?

I don't want to get in the weeds here, but last year we reaped what he sowed re: press man coverage.  I trust Brown to have learned his lesson and plow the field of any solutions to OSU's offense.  We could use a bumper crop; otherwise we'll have to dig deep to have any hope of a bountiful harvest.

Do you like wins or losses?

*I really don't give a damn what last name the head coach has, as long as he's successful, and at Michigan... that means BEAT OHIO STATE!

*If you don't understand the above bullet point... you AREN'T a Michigan fan; be quick, the bandwagon is leaving without you!

To put it in Godfatherian terms, OSU '18 was the murder of Santino "Sonny" Corleone.

Don Brown has to answer for Santino. He can do that Saturday. And that's the only way.

Not much honestly.  We've heard all the talk before.  We've seen elite defenses of his come into this game and get shredded.  I hope he's figured it out, but I'm willing to bet that Ryan Day has counter-moves that are gonna beat whatever Don Brown has.

I'd like to point out that that 2015 wasn't Don Brown. Brown's defense has mostly shut down OSU twice and was nuked into oblivion once. In 2016 they gave up 280 yards and 14 points in regulation on drives of 13 and 77 yards. In 2017 they gave up 350 yards to the #3 SP+ offense. It should also be noted that 66 of those yards came after O'Korn sealed the game with an interception.

Watch the game again.

You saw an "athletically overmatched" defense?  You mean the defense full of NFL talent that dominated other teams. Sure, OSU had athletic talent, but it did not "overmatch" Michigan to the point of 60 plus points and 8.5 yards per play.  Talent gap was not the difference.

You say you saw an offense "deliberately misdirect" the defense?  Well, sounds like you are saying that the defense was not prepared for that.  Offenses typically misdirect and that is what you plan for.

So, watch the tape. The players didn't know what to do. Isn't that on the coach?

What fact? That your opinion was that they looked lost? Nope, he can't argue that.

Wtf is this post? What B1G DC would you rather have? What about...oh IDK, the 3248032937448 other games where Michigan's defense has been excellent under DB? What about his FIRST TWO GAMES vs these very Buckeyes?

You're absolutely the kind of M fan I cannot stand -- and you're out here saying the board sucks. Yeah your typo got attacked but that was because no one cared for the rest of your post. And while we're on it, you spelled Petr wrong.

LOL, wow, you truly are dull...

1. I posted a 247 article that explicitly stated the two sides had been in contact.

2. I posted it with the express purpose of starting "Franklin is leaving Penn State" rumors, as Franklin is the main source of Harbaugh disinformation and negative recruiting against us

...but go off.

Honestly? After last year I don't. I know we had weaknesses on D that they exploited, but giving up that many points should never happen.

He's a good coach and I hope he redeems himself on Saturday. Because if he does, we win. By a lot.

Edit: Benedict Mattison gets at least half of blame. It was his DL getting pushed around.

The immediate coach turncoats smells so badly to me... how is it possible that they were not already planning to go to OSU?

I mean... did they turn in a performance like that, and immediately OSU says, "THOSE are guys that we want to coach OUR defense!"?

But the alternative is that they already intended to leave before they put that faeces on the field.

Now I'm pissed off all over again.

I hate this thread almost as much as I hate OSU.

Bit of revisionist history re: the offense. The game was 19-24 at the half, mainly due to a muffed punt by OSU. Then in the 3rd quarter Michigan went 3-and-out, had a punt blocked for a TD, threw an INT, and it was 19-41.
