Harbros and the Khaki Army - Anyone getting sick of us yet?

Submitted by MC5-95 on

First it was Fox Sports' Harbus, then the Harbros. Now we've got ESPN saying the Khaki Army is on its way. Season hasn't started yet, and I'm getting tired of us. I just want a nice 8-4 season with a bowl win at a middle of the road bowl. Is that wrong?

LATER EDIT: Don't get me wrong--I'm fine with any and all cheering and hype from U of M and fans. It's just this outside stuff. And of course I hope for more than 8-4. Okay, continue with the negging. Guess I deserve it.

Yes, that is wrong. We will settle for 8-4 and any ol' bowl game because Hoke/RR have forced us to appreciate such small victories. However, "want" is different. I want better for the program.

...I am used to the days when 2 or 3 losses in a season were bitterly disappointing. I grew up expecting M to win every game with only one potential nail-biter in November.

Being as conditioned as I've become, I expect M to win.

Every. Single. Game.

That's the standard.

Nawh.  I'm finding it increasingly hard to give a shit about what sort of pants Harbaugh prefers though.

So there's that.

Also, I like that a large number of other schools' fanbases are getting sick of the attention.  Every time a Buckeye or other rival fan gets annoyed at Harbaugh media saturation, an angel gets its wings.  So if ESPN wants to stoke that fire, they should have at it.

I see no problem with it. Makes us insufferable to our rivals, and makes us relevant for recruits who haven't seen a winning football team (yes I know 2011). Sells out the stadium.  You can't pick and choose what you want out of the Harbaugh package.

I hate all the Harbaugh hype and how everyone jumps on the bandwagon any time some "trend" happens. For example the khakis thing, the submarine thing, the fact that everyone likes the new road uniforms even though they are ugly as fuck. But that's just my opinion.

This is what you get when you hire a great coach like harbaugh. I'm sure Saban at Alabama hype was similar in 07. The media are the ones who produce the hype and it means we're relevant. I fail to see a problem.

If it drowns out the noise from other programs, that's even better! Enjoy it while it lasts. The positive attention the team and university gets from this is fantastic. Recruits also see it.

Am I tired of every sports news outlet continually talking about Michigan and Harbaugh?

Of course not.

And I don't want an 8-4 season with middle-of-the-road bowl game. Whether it's unrealistic or not, I want much, much more than that.
