Harbaugh plans to sign with the Vikings (Per Chris Balas at ON3/TheWolverine
Balas cites sources saying Jim Harbaugh will coach the Vikings.

It's going to be poetic and glorious watching Dan Campbell beat his ass twice a year.
Yeah I said it.
Restore the roar baby!!!
February 1st, 2022 at 7:28 PM ^
What roar? I don't remember there ever being a roar. Perhaps a meow during the Fontes years.
February 1st, 2022 at 7:51 PM ^
More of a queef, but I say that as a lifelong Lions' fan
February 1st, 2022 at 8:33 PM ^
I was in the Dome for the Lions sole playoff win since 1957. After the 91 season. Kicked the Cowboys ass. And it was LOUD. That roar needs to be restored.
Also, I will be rooting against Harbaugh almost as much as I root against Aaron Rogers.

Forward down the field.

We have a team that will not yield.
February 1st, 2022 at 10:55 PM ^
And in the resulting hue and cry
The Lions just lay down and die.
Die, die, die.
February 2nd, 2022 at 12:13 AM ^
Jim has l a record of something like 130 wins and 8 losses vs teams with a worse roster than his teams ..and the Lions roster is still 4-5 years away from being good --thats if they hit on most of their draft picks
With or without Harbaugh ,the Vikings will be the best team in NFC North for the next decade ,very deep ,young roster

Who can we hire that can give us 1 Big Ten Title in 7 years?
February 1st, 2022 at 7:40 PM ^
I’ll always love him for 42-27. I’ll always hate him for losing to MSU in 2020.
February 1st, 2022 at 7:44 PM ^
The guy cant beat Mel Tucker.
February 1st, 2022 at 7:47 PM ^
That's why Tucker is getting gold and Harbaugh is getting Kork Cousins.

Kork!!

Cant wait for all of the sparty memes about Harbaugh leaving for the NFL to avoid having to lose to Tucker every year....

I can.

The fact that that Mucinex Booger looking bastard has a winning record against me would rub me the wrong way, but I guess.

In 7 years he produced what he was hired for exactly once. Then he left. Not the legacy of greatness. If he leaves, I don’t know how his legacy will be interpreted, but I don’t think it will be kind.
February 1st, 2022 at 8:27 PM ^
My thoughts exactly. It was great what he did in year 7 here, I enjoyed every moment, however, this should have happened A HELL OF A LOT SOONER, like year 3 or 4 at the latest.
February 1st, 2022 at 9:42 PM ^
I think he will be known for stabilizing the ship and setting it on a better path forward. Not great but also not terrible at all .... if he leaves I really just didn't see that coming as he was where he needed to be and could ride off into retirement in 5 years with his family all in one place. I like him and thought he did a good job here but felt he missed in the area of building talent to be the best they could be and opening things up more offensively (although this year was better in that dept). I certainly feel JH cared and did his best and truly loves this University.
February 1st, 2022 at 9:56 PM ^
To get credit for "stabilizing" a program, you have to actually leave it on stable ground. Leaving in February puts us in a horrible spot in so many ways -- a late coaching search, no time to shore up recruiting, etc.
His legacy will be taking 7 years to accomplish what he was hired to do, and then promptly bailing at the worst possible time for the University.

We can't have nice things.

Hire internal, try and catch the Lincoln Riley magic in the Josh Gattis bottle…
February 1st, 2022 at 7:44 PM ^
So, if the parallels hold, what sexier job would Josh Gattis bolt for in 5 years, taking his star QB and half the recruiting class with him, after being unable to field a defense that could stop the likes of Kansas State and Iowa State from upsetting him every year?
February 1st, 2022 at 7:45 PM ^
That's what I've been saying. I would give Gattis a shot if he wants it.
February 1st, 2022 at 8:18 PM ^
Balas has also said it wont be Gatis. Internal leader is Hart.
February 1st, 2022 at 8:22 PM ^
Dear god this Michigan man bullshit is going to kill the program. Fucking bo killing this program from beyond the grave
February 1st, 2022 at 8:24 PM ^

I love Hart as much as anyone else and am glad he came home. He seems to be a clear asset to the staff and, in time, he could develop into HC material. He needs a little more time and experience, at least be a coordinator first. Giving the keys to someone with no experience at higher positions reeks of desperation.
February 1st, 2022 at 7:47 PM ^
Just curious what we’ve seen out of Gattis during his time here that in any way resembles Lincoln Riley.
February 1st, 2022 at 7:58 PM ^
I kind of agree. So many people in this board complained about Gattis up until this year. And even this year, there were times people felt like we were too conservative. Why all of a sudden do we think he’s ready to be a head coach? He really only has a few years experience as an OC.
February 1st, 2022 at 8:07 PM ^
I'd be open to an interim year that's basically an interview. I'd like to see what his offense looks like without Harbaugh's restrictions. He came in stressing speed in space, but it was clear by the 6 OL stuff and 3+ TE stuff that Harbaugh still had a big imprint on the offense. He could help salvage as much of the recruiting as possible as well.
February 1st, 2022 at 8:10 PM ^
You make the perfect argument for why he doesn’t deserve the job. You’re basically saying that we don’t know what a Gattis offense looks like yet. So why are we giving him the job??
February 1st, 2022 at 9:16 PM ^
Because that's better than hiring someone for the sake of hiring someone this late in the coaching hire cycle, and you could conceivably keep some of the staff and hopefully a lot of the reciting class in tact. And the spread elements of the offense were the parts I did like -- especially with JJ at the helm and Corum is space. I'm not convinced that there wasn't already a succession plan in place.
February 1st, 2022 at 11:19 PM ^
Hiring someone who has already had some success as a head coach isn’t ‘hiring for the sake of hiring’. Hiring someone who has had literally one good year as our coordinator, is hiring someone for the sake of hiring.
February 1st, 2022 at 9:29 PM ^
What does a Mike hart offense look like? I agree there are issues with hiring Gattis but Hart? He’s never coordinated
