When Laff-A-Lympics was produced, Hanna-Barbera wanted Muttley to lead the Dirty Rotten team. When the co-owners of Muttley balked, they used Mumbly, who they owned full rights to. They switched his character from hero to villain from that point on, just because of Laff-A-Lympics.
Also Dick Dastardly was supposed to be on the Dirty Rotten team but H-B couldn't use him for the same reason. They created the Dred Baron character as Mumbly's sidekick for the show. In fact, the entire Dirty Rotten team except for Mumbly and the Dalton brothers were created for Laff-A-Lympics.
I spend too much time watching cartoons.

I hadn’t realized that Mr Lunis (smudge on the lens) was actually a rerun of Dick Dastardly. The classics are timeless.

I wish they would bring them back with updated animation, like they did with Scooby Doo (Minus the awkward relationship with Daphne/Fred and Velma/Shaggy). It's a missed opportunity every Daytona 500 with Wacky Races and every Olympic season with Laff-A-Lympics.

This reminds me of the time I gave my sons toy boxing gloves and sent them to the basement.

Much better than my Dad saying "You two take it outside and the first one back inside gets ice cream."

Are you my brother?

I like more the video of him mocking Bo for his only national championship....in BASKETBALL in 1989.
February 7th, 2022 at 6:13 PM ^
Every star and planet burns only as bright as the one which orbits its reach. I celebrate these two men as Michigan leaders of what is right and special about the college game. No one is perfect. And these leaders aren't. But consider their influence for good. And then judge.
February 7th, 2022 at 6:27 PM ^
Completely ridiculous comment. Bo abdicated leadership when it was most called for and did the opposite of right. You are either trolling, delusional, or just flat out ignoring the facts of what happened.
February 7th, 2022 at 7:00 PM ^
Wow. Really? Based on what evidence that you unearthed about his character in real time or lately? As for Harbaugh's comments then, in 1990, you're making a value judgment on his character then? What a fucking revisionist POV. You are to be believed on what, exactly, history or personal motive?
February 7th, 2022 at 7:43 PM ^
Yes, really. Bo knew and we have no evidence he did anything about it. Let's face reality. This shit wouldn't have gone on for decades if he had done something.

Having gone through the most updated training as a youth coach regarding how to recognize and report potential predators, what is missing in this discussion for pre 2000 is that predators were and still are pretty damn good at grooming the adults around them to plant enough seeds of doubt to not get reported. Further, a Dr, especially, was given far too much deference and trust. Having been through the training, I can easily see how an ethical coach might treat the same situation differently then vs now after being trained. Not defending or condemning anyone. We weren’t there. But based on the scenarios I reviewed and was tested on, where the right answer is to report even the tiniest of rumored cases at the potential embarrassment of a non-perp, it is very possible that nobody on here if placed in the same situation back then would be able to “cast a stone” and do better.
February 8th, 2022 at 1:19 PM ^
You make good points, but I for one was faced with a situation like that in the mid-1990s and I acted on it.
No training for me until I was a Boy Scout Leader in the mid-2000s.
February 8th, 2022 at 2:57 PM ^
Good for you. Given the dates, as a kid or as an adult? I would hope we’d all do the same.
February 7th, 2022 at 7:57 PM ^
Completely agree. Elevating successful coaches to hero status always pissed me off. Yes, including Bo, Woody, Saban, Coach K, etc. Had great players and were good at their jobs. They are very fortunate our society worships them for their won-loss records.
February 7th, 2022 at 6:57 PM ^
No one is perfect.
Sure, but most people didn't enable a sexual predator for 30 years.

SR Kass is my bet and he will both-sides it to death. The master of long-winded nothing posts. I love him

So what do you guys think of Braylon's tweet? Maybe when we're done discussing this bit of 32 year old news we can rehash that one again.
February 7th, 2022 at 6:33 PM ^
I thought it was Braylon being Braylon. Hes a crybaby and he loves it
Back to you Jim

I enjoyed it. His imitation of Keth Jackson was pretty good. Thank you for sharing.

Another reason why I posted it. Keith Jackson
February 7th, 2022 at 8:51 PM ^
I'm looking forward to him calling the Rose Bowl next season.
....what?!? You can't be serious?
February 7th, 2022 at 6:55 PM ^
Bo--to put it flatly--was hard on people. His success was earned, to some real extent, at the cost of pain for others. He was not well-liked in the admin of the university, where he was known for throwing tantrums and being a tyrant. Yet he brought the football team glory, the school recognition. Sometimes you cannot reconcile the contradictions, but just thank goodness that--in many realms--people keep evolving.
There's no doubt that Jim Harbaugh has evolved, too. He's an agemate of mine, and I have watched him for decades. He's a better man than Bo was, period. I don't hold it against him that he reveres Bo, but I'm grateful that he's kept growing. He's a man who thinks for himself, and he lets his players and the people around him challenge him. And he's honest as hell. You cannot ask too much more of a person.
February 7th, 2022 at 7:46 PM ^
Michigan was a world renowned university long before Bo. To say he brought the university “recognition” - as if it didn’t have recognition before him or was lacking in recognition - is wrong.
February 7th, 2022 at 8:50 PM ^
Saying he brought recognition hardly means it had none before. Consider the "re-" part of that word.
February 7th, 2022 at 8:03 PM ^
I have no idea of course but my hunch is Bo the person never came close to Bo the legend. Just another hard ass sports coach who won . And I am a huge sports fan. But never idolized any of the icons. Bear Bryant, Bo, Joepa, Coach K, Bobby Knight, Vince Lombardi. Sad commentary on our obsession with sports, especially college sports.
February 7th, 2022 at 7:02 PM ^
Jim’s an excellent speaker.

I've never seen this before
thanks for posting.
funny how things age
February 7th, 2022 at 10:18 PM ^
Cringe. Why do we keep bringing Bo up?
Edit, after reading the thread it appears I've been baited.
February 8th, 2022 at 11:03 AM ^
well, what would you expect from Jim Harbaugh??? Isn't he the same guy that said Michigan lowers it enrollment standards for athletes and gives them schedules full of easy classes?
to quote Notorious Connor Mcgregor, "who the fook is this guy anyway?"
but seriously..... when you spend your time digging things up to cause a shitstorm the fallout should always find your front porch.
lets move on.
