Came across this on Twitter from DrSap4UM's twitter feed. Some of you might enjoy it.

When Laff-A-Lympics was produced, Hanna-Barbera wanted Muttley to lead the Dirty Rotten team. When the co-owners of Muttley balked, they used Mumbly, who they owned full rights to. They switched his character from hero to villain from that point on, just because of Laff-A-Lympics.

Also Dick Dastardly was supposed to be on the Dirty Rotten team but H-B couldn't use him for the same reason. They created the Dred Baron character as Mumbly's sidekick for the show. In fact, the entire Dirty Rotten team except for Mumbly and the Dalton brothers were created for Laff-A-Lympics.

I spend too much time watching cartoons.

Every star and planet burns only as bright as the one which orbits its reach. I celebrate these two men as Michigan leaders of what is right and special about the college game. No one is perfect. And these leaders aren't. But consider their influence for good. And then judge.

Wow. Really? Based on what evidence that you unearthed about his character in real time or lately? As for Harbaugh's comments then, in 1990, you're making a value judgment on his character then? What a fucking revisionist POV. You are to be believed on what, exactly, history or personal motive?

Having gone through the most updated training as a youth coach regarding how to recognize and report potential predators, what is missing in this discussion for pre 2000 is that predators were and still are pretty damn good at grooming the adults around them to plant enough seeds of doubt to not get reported.  Further, a Dr, especially, was given far too much deference and trust. Having been through the training, I can easily see how an ethical coach might treat the same situation differently then vs now after being trained. Not defending or condemning anyone. We weren’t there. But based on the scenarios I reviewed and was tested on, where the right answer is to report even the tiniest of rumored cases at the potential embarrassment of a non-perp, it is very possible that nobody on here if placed in the same situation back then would be able to “cast a stone” and do better.

Bo--to put it flatly--was hard on people. His success was earned, to some real extent, at the cost of pain for others. He was not well-liked in the admin of the university, where he was known for throwing tantrums and being a tyrant. Yet he brought the football team glory, the school recognition. Sometimes you cannot reconcile the contradictions, but just thank goodness that--in many realms--people keep evolving.

There's no doubt that Jim Harbaugh has evolved, too. He's an agemate of mine, and I have watched him for decades. He's a better man than Bo was, period. I don't hold it against him that he reveres Bo, but I'm grateful that he's kept growing. He's a man who thinks for himself, and he lets his players and the people around him challenge him. And he's honest as hell. You cannot ask too much more of a person.

I have no idea of course but my hunch is Bo the person never came close to Bo the legend. Just another hard ass sports coach who won . And I am a huge sports fan. But never idolized any of the icons. Bear Bryant, Bo, Joepa, Coach K, Bobby Knight, Vince Lombardi. Sad commentary on our obsession with sports, especially college sports.

well, what would you expect from Jim Harbaugh??? Isn't he the same guy that said Michigan lowers it enrollment standards for athletes and gives them schedules full of easy classes?

to quote Notorious Connor Mcgregor, "who the fook is this guy anyway?"

but seriously..... when you spend your time digging things up to cause a shitstorm the fallout should always find your front porch.

lets move on.
