Classic Bo, a stupendously titled column (there's no PC in "Broad-side"), and a sports editor named Bill Dinner to boot... Simply fantastic.

The semicolon in the hed is agita-inducing, but probably not worth jumping in the TARDIS to fix.

“And despite the score, we were still unemotional after the game.”

Bo was completely bullshitting there—as he openly admitted immediately after the OSU game, and in printed recollections years after, his team was so stoked after the Iowa victory that they were screaming in unison “Beat the Bucks!! Beat the Bucks!!” in the locker room at Iowa after dismantling the Hawkeyes. He said some of his assistants were afraid the team was too high emotionally in the week prior to the OSU game.

PSU showed that OSU can be beat and Michigan is a much better team the second half of this season.

Comparing 3 Identical Opponents 2nd half of season

PSU/ IND   371 yrds/ 462 IND    Points   34  / IND       27    MICH   453 /321   39 / IND 14

PSU/ MSU 302 yrds/ 265 MSU       PSU   28 / MSU       7   MICH   467 / 220   44/ MSU 10

PSU/ Mich 283 yrds/ 417 Mich        PSU   28  / MICH   21

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PSU 956 yrds Opp  1,144 yrds        PSU   90 / Opp 55

Mich 1,337 yrds Opp 827                Mich 104 /  Opp 52

With these numbers, it is easy to see the Wolverine Offense is significantly more productive and our defense is significantly better as well. Also PSU played 2 of 3 at home while Michigan played 2/3 away. GO BLUE!

Anyone else read this column in Bo's voice? I was listening to Bob Ufer, A Life in the Season on YouTube the other day, part 4 or 5. The episode started off with Ufer interviewing Bo in the locker room before the 1969 game. This is exactly what he said that no team is unbeatable. Anyone can be beaten. The same holds true 50 years later. Beat those Bucks!!!!
