Grady Switch?
Sam Webb alluded to the fact that Grady's #1 priority is still football, but maybe not slot receiver. I hadn't thought much about it, but considering none of the cb's are entering early spring practice will need some bodies out ther just to practice. On the other hand he was a RB coming out of school and with V. Smith's injury they may be looking for a shifty 3rd down type back. I was curious the chances for db, with his body type and quicks it seems like a good fit, but I have no idea if he even played db in high school which would make that transition very difficult. Curious if anyone else heard that or had any insight or thoughts on it.
PS As I was thinking about the spring it is a little surprising they switched Teric back to offense considering Warren, Boo Boo and Witty won't be there. That leaves Turner and Floyd as the only CB's on the roster if Woolfolk stays at Safety. The qb's will have extreme confidence coming out of spring ball as they attack those walk on 2nd string db's. Anyone who can run under a 5.0 may want to try walking on at least they'll get on tv during the spring game wearing the winged helmet.

he's moving to RB

I've heard he's moving to RB, too. He was an all-state RB in HS, and put up some big numbers (over 2,000 yards his senior year), against some pretty good competition.

Why is everyone so infatuated with Kelvin Grady on this board? He made one awesome catch in practice...then had the dropsies all season. Who cares...we have better slots than Grady.

Because it is one of the pieces of news about the football team right now.
Which we discuss on these boards...
I hope Grady is a productive player for UM no matter where he ends up.

Hey, I am as big of a fan on this board as you and everyone else. Bottom line, Grady was a good high school player who decided to play basketball, and made the move back. He has some speed but needs to develop his skills (which hopefully he will this year with a year back in football).
I have seen about 8 posts on this move and it really isn't that major. All I'm sayin'.

Kelvin Grady strikes me as a rad dude and I enjoy seeing him on the field

Teric's move probably shows the coaches are confident in our current and incoming players, which frees him up to move back to offense. Or he was so bad they saw no hope and moved him back. Maybe a little bit of both?

The spring game is on TV? In what part of the state?

Well, he had a case of the dropsies, so switching to RB shouldn't be a surprise.
I'd rather see Grady at RB and Teric Jones at SR than the other way around.

It appears that we will have a true freshman starting in the backfield (with possibly 2 redshirt freshman in Turner at CB and/or Emilien at S if M. Williams doesn't improve).
Woolfolk will start at CB (if S. Parker commits and starts at FS) or he will start at FS (if C. Christian or Avery are up to starting at CB).
Add a new starting SLB in M.Jones (So.) or M. Robinson (True Fr. who may also be up for starting SS) and we're going to have the youngest pass defense in the nation.

This does not worry me as A: Pretty highly rate recruits and B: Outside of Warren, how could it get worse?

I'm still holding out hope that the light will come on for Williams and he will be able to start at safety. If Woolfolk, Vlad, and Turner round out our backfield, at least we would avoid starting a true freshman.

Emilien didn't redshirt last year.
Woolfolk is going to remain at safety. There's very little doubt in my mind.
Woolfolk plays SS.
Marvin Robinson will play FS.

So,
SS- Woolfolk
FS- M. Robinson
CB- J. Turner
Who is your second CB? (I assume C. Christian)
Does the "probable" commitment of S. Parker change your lineup?
If M. Robinson can play FS, I'd rather see Emilien at SS and Woolfolk back to CB. But only because of the lack of experience at CB --- even though Woolfolk's speed would be much better utilized at Safety.

The second cornerback would be either Floyd or Christian.
Parker wouldn't change my lineup. He'll still be a true freshman. Experience is more important at strong safety, especially in Greg Robinson's defense, than it is at cornerback. Parker's probably going to be a backup this year, no matter what.
CB - Turner
CB - Floyd/Christian
FS - probably Emilien, and Kovacs was fine here
SS - Woolfolk

When and where are spring tryouts and how do you sign up?

Post. Apologies.
