Glory, glory Hallelujah! FSNorth to show Um v Bemidji live Saturday

http://www.foxsportsnorth.com/pages/landing/?blockID=203560&feedID=3712 Fox Sports North will show the UM v Bemidji game this Saturday live. If you don't get FSNorth, then you can still watch live on espn360 (internet) or wait until tape delay on ESPNU. I'm a dish network guy, and occasionally they'll have FSN regionals on the sports alternate channels (past Big ten Network in the 440's) as long as the game in question isn't being shown on a pay per view service (NHL Center Ice, MLB Ticket, etc). I would assume I'll be able to see it on Saturday without an issue.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm also on Dish Network and I never bothered looking at the channels in the 440s. I just looked on Dish Remote Access and it's not listing the Michigan game as far as I could see, but maybe they just haven't updated it yet. If you do find the game, could you please post the channel?

the regional sports networks usually don't update on the dish remote access until a day or so before. Since this was just announced today, I would expect it to start showing up in the listings tomorrow night or friday. If I see it, I'll put it in a new MGoBoard posting. I would say start trolling the listings starting at channel 440 and go up from there tomorrow.

to this thread, but as no Wings open thread has been created and this factoid isn't worth it's own thread I'm going to put it here anyways. During the Wings game tonight (currently up 2-1 over STL halfway through the 2nd), Mickey was talking about Z's backhand and how good it was. He then paused for a second and said something to the effect of "You know who had the best backhand? Red Berenson, out of Michigan". I thought that was nifty, especially as (though I never saw it in his prime) I know that his backhand was his strength and think it's awesome that at 70 he can still be remembered for it. Also he spent most of his playing and (NHL) coaching with the Blues, including his 6 goal game.

what you mean by underrated. If you mean by the "important" people, like the ones that have only given him 2 conference coach of the year in 26 years (compared to Rico Blasi's 4 in 11 years) and one time national coach, and Dean Lombardi, but not the ones who gave him the Jack Adams, then yes, I would say he's one of our more underrated coaches. If you mean by the Michigan fan base, his players and a lot of (especially old school) NHLers, not by a long shot. U-M's most underrated coach would have to be a non-revenue sport. Carol Hutchins (softball) has the most wins by any Michigan coach ever, with more than 1,000, in 26 seasons, I wanna say her winning % is in the .700's, the only softball NC west of the Mississippi and is currently ranked #2 in the nation, in a primarily west/south sport. Bev Plocki (women's gymnastics) had a 3 year unbeaten conference streak, including something like 5 straight big ten titles. No NCs, but a good number of upsets over top 5 teams. Possibly Rich Maloney (baseball) who took us to a dominant streak in the big ten for a while and got us to the super regionals, though is also without a NC. Kurt Golder (men's gymnastics) has an NC and is generally near the top of the pack, of all of like 17 NCAA teams... Matt Anderson, (water polo) has taken us to the 8-team NCAA tournament 3 times, dominates in-conference, holds its own against plenty of top-10 teams from out west and reaches some new (positive) record for the program every year. Again in a primarily west coast sport. Marcia Pankratz (field hockey) has an NC in 2001 for the first woman's NC at Michigan and had some really good teams, she was here for a while then left then came back last season. Both of our tennis teams, especially woman's (Ronni Bernstein) are starting to really be very good. The women's team is ranked top 10 in the country as a team with, I believe, one (of 6) ranked singles player and one (of 3) doubles teams ranked (individual rankings go to at least 99). If you compare this to other top ranked teams and even lower ranked teams, I'm pretty sure they'll have more ranked individuals. That speaks to a pretty good coaching job. Mark Rosen (volleyball) has been here for a while and hasn't really been wildly successful, but lately his teams have been getting better and better and they reached the elite 8 (program first) in the NCAA tourney. That's off the top of my head. Red may not get all the personal accolades we think he deserves (he has PLENTY of team success :-D), but again, we do think he deserves them, we know he's a legend, so I wouldn't say he's underrated, by us at least. (Val Filpula scored off a bad bounce by Conklin to make it 3-2 Det, then hit an ENG to seal it, Wings 4-2 final)

I would +1 you for posting this, you made my day. I also heard the comment about Red and thought that was pretty cool, Mickey talks about him every now and again, it seems like he has a lot of respect for him.

Did anyone buy tickets to the game through U of M's ticket office? If so, do you know if they are selling single game tickets or only all-session passes? It seems the single game tickets for saturday are all out on ticketmaster....

Black out at 2.9 seconds to go in the 3rd during the CCHA Championship?! I was so fucking pissed that I missed the Mason cup celebration! I'm glad there was a site for it on Michigan sportscenter! What a win that was! GO BLUE HOCKEY NCAA OR BUST!

Same thing happened to me. I think the problem was that the Red Wings game was scheduled to come on at the exact moment when there were 2.5 seconds to go. If you live outside the Detroit area, that game is blacked out, so they blacked out the FS Detroit feed at the worst possible moment. I've never seen that happen before. It's the closest I've come to a Heidi-game situation.
