Get ready for three straight against MSU
With State's win tonight and Minnesota falling apart, it looks like MSU is destined for the 8-9 game in the BTT. 3 games against MSU in 8 days should be interesting.
February 25th, 2021 at 11:55 PM ^
No. Fuck no.
February 25th, 2021 at 11:57 PM ^
If they're allowed to mug guys in the lane like they did tonight they'll be hard to beat.
February 26th, 2021 at 9:49 AM ^
Yep, we watched the same game and, unfortunately, The Whiner Izzo gets away with it. Hate him worse than any college coach - basketball or football.
February 26th, 2021 at 10:58 AM ^
I listened to the game on the radio while jogging last night and interestingly enough, the MSU radio guys were whining constantly about the refs.
February 26th, 2021 at 11:09 AM ^
So what you're saying is that the whole damn program - from HC all the way to the announcers - are loaded with whiners.
February 26th, 2021 at 12:13 PM ^
Current college coaches I hate the most? Interesting concept. My top-five list as of today:
1. Tom Izzo
2. Ryan Day
3. Mike Kryzekwksszeski
4. Dabo Swinney
5. Richard Pitino
February 26th, 2021 at 12:27 PM ^
What's there to hate about Ryan Day outside of him being the coach of OSU? Harbaugh talks shit and Day points to the scoreboard and reacts.
February 26th, 2021 at 1:49 PM ^
Isn't being the coach of OSU enough for you?!!
Oh and I would add one to Bursleyhall82
Brian Kelly!!
February 26th, 2021 at 11:29 AM ^
MSU takes way too many midrange twos and we are one of the best defenses in the country at defending twos. Add in that no one on MSU can handle Dickinson and Henry will have to deal with Wagner/Livers, I like our chances
February 26th, 2021 at 1:57 PM ^
They'll MUG Dickinson and get away with it. Typical Izzo
February 25th, 2021 at 11:57 PM ^
Good. Beat their ass three games in a row. Fuck Sparty. This team is not afraid.
February 26th, 2021 at 10:38 AM ^
The problem is the mugging they'll get away with. It's the time of year that the media starts gushing all over a-hole Izzo and how he always has his team ready for tournament play. Total BS
February 26th, 2021 at 1:33 PM ^
I listened to ESPNU radio the other night and the host said they may get away with the muggings to get into the tournament but come tournament time they will be an early out, since other zebras from other conferences will call those muggings in the paint.
February 26th, 2021 at 12:02 AM ^
Aside from early phantom calls against Dickinson or MSU concussing half our team, there is no way they beat us. They can’t outshoot us, can’t beat us down low, and can’t defend us enough to win
February 26th, 2021 at 1:05 AM ^
”...there is no way MSU beats us.”
I’ve heard that one before.

Big difference is UM is actually very good in this case, but sure keep comparing the bball team to the football team nonsensically
February 26th, 2021 at 8:54 AM ^
They're talking about the concept of not over looking MSU because, regardless of sport, they despise UM and will often punch above their weight and pull off an upset.
February 26th, 2021 at 9:48 AM ^
In this case, you can take "punch" literally. With their recent success, expect a criminal level of Goon Ball from the landfill inmates.
February 26th, 2021 at 9:57 AM ^
I fully expect that goon squad to come out punching below the waist.
February 26th, 2021 at 3:39 PM ^
Guaranteed ! And the Whiner will be in the refs ears all game long
February 26th, 2021 at 10:04 AM ^
This person gets it.

1986: After #6 Michigan loses to the unranked Spartans 91-79 up in E.L., Antoine Joubert guarantees a Michigan win in the February rematch in Ann Arbor.
The rematch doesn't go well for #7 Michigan or Joubert, as the #19 Spartans roll to an easy 15 pt victory that featured Scott Skiles taunting Joubert with "fat boy" before and during the game en route to a 33pt night himself.
Skiles was the only Spartan on that team who played in the NBA, while Michigan had Roy Tarpley, Gary Grant, and a freshman Glen Rice, along with college standouts Richard Rellford, Butch Wade, and Joubert.
That's far from the only time a significantly more talented Michigan team was upended by MSU in a variety of sports. No, it doesn't mean that MSU is automatically going to do that in the final two games of this season—Michigan has better players, and so far this season has proved it's a much better team than MSU. I just think it's historical blindness to ignore the fact that of all the Big Ten opponents Michigan has, MSU by far has the most upset victories. Some instate rivalries exist more on paper than in reality, but not this one.
I'll take nothing for granted, especially when playing this bunch of Spartan goons who will try to reduce the talent differential with hacks, punches, elbows, shoves, tripping, and kicks to the nuts while the Big Ten refs blithely ignore what's going on in front of them and swallow their whistles in deference to Saint Izzo of Lansing.
February 26th, 2021 at 12:20 PM ^
I like the "I'll take nothing for granted..." part. While sparty's winning streak has been impressive, they are winning ugly with their goon tactics. Michigan needs to be ready. I am assuming there will be a few technical fouls during our games against them.
February 26th, 2021 at 3:40 PM ^
I'll take nothing for granted, especially when playing this bunch of Spartan goons
Totally agree.
On paper M should steamroll Staee.
Paper doesn't account for intangibles such as rivalries, Staee appears to be peaking right now, and internet board hubris.
I'm cautiously optimistic until scoreboard reads 00:00 and the good guys get the W
February 27th, 2021 at 1:09 AM ^
I usually have nothing good to say about Sparty, but Scottie Skiles was a warrior, guy had heart. Sometimes a little overboard and nasty, but you knew that guy could will his team to victory on any given night, and that he’d rip his heart out to win, and if he lost he’d rip his heart out too.
I’d love to see that kind of desire consistently in the winged helmet.
February 26th, 2021 at 5:40 AM ^
That you, Brian?
February 26th, 2021 at 9:04 AM ^
It’s a game, anything can always happen
February 26th, 2021 at 12:03 AM ^
Break all of their starters's noses with our back ups in the first 5 minutes of the first game.
February 26th, 2021 at 5:06 AM ^
opening minutes - path to victory.
February 26th, 2021 at 10:55 AM ^
Add in the scenes where Coach Howard is throat punching Izzo and it's complete.
February 26th, 2021 at 11:03 AM ^
Juwan Howard is about 6'10", how do you reasonably expect him to throat punch Izzo?
February 26th, 2021 at 12:42 PM ^
Use your imagination. “Throat punch!”
Well, Izzo will clearly be looking up Coach's nostrils at an extreme tilt of the head. Clear shot at the throat. Coach is an honest dude too, he would likely fight him on his knees to give Izzo a fair shake.
February 26th, 2021 at 12:09 AM ^
They are letting MSU mug people in the lane.
Holtmann had every right to bitch at those shitty refs
February 26th, 2021 at 12:40 AM ^
And the 3 pointer they incorrectly took away at the end of the first half. That was egregious.
February 26th, 2021 at 8:52 AM ^
Big Ten is a fan of Izzo.
February 26th, 2021 at 12:09 AM ^
We just beat the team that 12 days ago beat them by 30 on their home court, by 22 today. This is how it will go:
Game 1: we win by 15-20 without it ever being close
Game 2: first half a lot like today, and we pull away in the second half.
Game 3: they are playing for their lives and may even grab a halftime lead. We close out the second half with a 10 point win.
They miss the tournament because 1-3 in their last 4 games isn’t good enough
February 26th, 2021 at 12:14 AM ^
I like the way you think.
February 26th, 2021 at 11:07 AM ^
This is what I expect:
Crisler game - we pull away in the second half and win by 20.
Breslin game - completely different officiating than at Crisler. This is a dogfight that goes down to the wire. We scrape out a last-minute win in a game featuring lots of hard fouls.
BTT - in between, about a 10-point win. Also will feature hard fouls - hopefully no injuries.
MSU will make the tournament. They just picked up two huge wins this week. Getting swept by a #1 seed in Michigan isn't going to hurt them.
February 26th, 2021 at 12:03 PM ^
Or the selection committee won't bother to even look at what MSU does the rest of the season. They see the name "Izzo," and automatically give him a #4 seed.
February 26th, 2021 at 12:11 AM ^
I would rather not
February 26th, 2021 at 12:13 AM ^
Never heard/seen so much media hype for a fucking 13-9 team.
February 26th, 2021 at 12:22 AM ^
Don't care about them one iota.
My only concern is that UM gets out of their games healthy. I'm petrified that MSU will ruin our March.
February 26th, 2021 at 1:54 AM ^
Yep. It's been a nag on me since the reschedule was announced. 80 minutes in a row is a lot of time and the way they play it's a legit concern. And again in the BTT? Man.
February 26th, 2021 at 6:32 AM ^
I would rather MSU be on the bubble with something to play for in those games. With nothing to play for, their focus would become making sure Michigan's best players are not healthy enough to do well in the NCAA tournament.
February 26th, 2021 at 6:32 AM ^
Edit: Hit save once, post twice.
February 26th, 2021 at 7:44 AM ^
I was thinking the same thing. MSU gets more pleasure from ruining another teams season than probably any other program in the country. If they had no shot at the tournament, Tom would unload his bench for suicide missions against Michigan players!
February 26th, 2021 at 9:04 AM ^
Yep. It fucked up Ayo's.
February 26th, 2021 at 9:41 AM ^
I saw on rcmb that they didn’t care about it at all. No inkling that the play was dirty and some were even suggesting that Ayo purposefully turned his head to get a foul. The hoops they were jumping to make that kind of logic work was insane
