I think it's appropriate to get the embed above the fold, so to speak.

Third time is the charm.
December 30th, 2015 at 2:44 PM ^
Ah. Following the Gardner mold then, eh? Who was 81?

Brian Cole was #81 in the spring but changed to #41 in the fall.

Zach Gentry said he'd still like to play QB. But JH asked him to give TE a shot, so he is. He's not sure what spot he'll play in spring

Does Jay have that much trust from Papa Jim to pull guys from other position groups?

Are you denying that Gardner was #98?

he wants football players that could play multiple positions.
which is why it's a shame Viramontes was punked.
December 30th, 2015 at 2:57 PM ^
He's a true freshman...how the hell do you know where he's going to finish his career or make the biggest impact?
Plenty of QBs have played other positions to get on the field, learn the speed of the game, learn the nuances of playing college football, etc. and then finished their career at QB.
Michigan's had one recently.
Ryan Tannehill played WR, Baylor moved their current QB to WR because he was 3rd string and they wanted him on the field...he's moving back to QB next year.
Boykin at TCU? He was a WR. Nick Marshall was playing DB. The list goes on and on....
If you have a young player who's talented enough to see the field at another position early in his career...you try him out. It doesn't mean his other position is finished forever. It could, no question. He may never take a snap at QB at Michigan. But how do we know this after ONE semester of football?

He's gonna be good wherever he ends up. He already has a bunch of stickers!

edit: for the board.

I hope he does flip back to QB for spring game and next season. I like his potential and he could be the difference between a win or loss if he does play the backup role next year (barring he doesn't win the job outright)

Get ready for some 3 TE sets next year with Butt, Bunting, TWJ, Gentry, Hill all able to make plays.

I haven't been this excited for that much beef since I filled up my deep freezer last winter. Perhaps throw De'Veon at FB and K. Walker at tailback at look out B1G!

Fortunately he's got a couple assists there, or we might have to worry about his future health.
Good to see Juice 84 smiling "& keeping things interesting on his last ride."

TWJ DOES NOT look like he's 290....if he his, holy shit; he must have an outstanding body frame. If that's the case, I really hope they switch him to DE; a guy that can carry that much weight efficiently (thus maintain speed/athleticism) would be a terror on the line.
December 30th, 2015 at 2:57 PM ^
Disappointed he apparently will not get a shot at QB, but JOK could throw the ball to taco pants and Gentry looks like he could still get it.

Did Texas recruit him as a TE or was it strictly as a QB?
December 30th, 2015 at 3:28 PM ^
When I see this picture, I don't think of NFL potential or player disfunction due to playing time. I see some guys in college who are having fun. I think we get lost in the former with players, whether they had high hopes coming in or not, and how that play may seek them to leave for potentially greener pastures. But whether it was Strobels column earlier in the year stating how much he loved the University and his teammates despite struggles to see the field to Gentry helping the team by playing a new position, I see guys who genuinely having fun and enjoying their life.

Looks like he has a lot of potential at the position. In Harbaugh We Trust!
