Gene Smith would never let this ref nonsense fly. Ever.

It’s getting ridiculous at how badly Michigan gets jobbed. Whether it’s Rose Bowl bids from the 70s, Bo’s last game, Burke’s block in the title game or what we’re seeing this year with basketball.

Warde needs to get the fuck up from his ass and do something. OSU meanwhile gets BIG specials on how the refs screw them.

Michigan should NEVER allow this to happen. Full stop.

Strongly disagree!  Harbaugh was ripping them in 2016 and flat out went off after The Game and we had to endure 2017 and a lot of 2018 bs calls because of it.  It didn't even get better until after the NW game in 2018 when the called holding on Higdon, ie the play he got tackled and Patterson ran for 20 something yards for a first down in a game we were trailing.  That call could have cost that game!  We couldn't get calls vs ohio, our dline getting tackled in front of the officials and they wouldn't blow the whistle.  Our Receivers got tackled, mugged and we got called for contesting passes.  That's what Warde should have been on all season, every season.

It's up to Warde to have the athletic department to track the officiating.  They should be tracking officiating crews with analytics to tell them how officials call games.  And when it gets out of line for him to be in contact with the Big10 office.

Threatening to leave the conference is one of the most hollow threats I can imagine.  The contract penalties and lawsuits would all but bankrupt the AD, and it would take years to legally leave.

But I do agree with tracking referee performance and showing video highlights vs the rulebook when addressing call disparity.  I do agree with the coaches (and players) calling the BS in press conferences.  The problem with this?  Warde has proven that he won't say a thing, but will admonish his coaches for doing so.

Warde is an administrative care-taker for the Ath Dept.  He is not an industry leader, a thinker, or a rock for fair play.  When Harbaugh announced that initiative to investigate the B1G stadiums medical facilities after Speight was seat-belted into a van with a broken neck, where was Warde?  Nowhere in sight - he let Harbaugh lead that cause.  No AD worth his salt as a leader would have allowed a subordinate to take on the entire conference, but Warde sure did...

You can't threaten the conference to leave.  It isn't even they need us more than we need them.  You have the athletic department track every officiating crew in the big ten.  In and out of conference.  You track their analytics, which crews call penalties and track against interpretation of the rules.  If you are outside of that to the negative and out of the realm of normal penalties per game vs what they are flagging or not flagging other programs for then you have the athletic department.

As for media and Harbaugh.  I loved the Spurrier approach setting up officials every single week in his press conferences.  He rarely called them out for not calling penalties, esp sec officials.  What he did was call out the other team.  Ie, Last week we watched Florida State offensive line wrapping all game long on ....'s de's.  Or that #22 for Florida St was holding and arm barring #81 on film all last week.  He did that all the time.  By the 2nd series of every game that was called out.

Brian Kelly did it to Brady Hoke.  Brady Hoke in a press conference said grab them, contest and fight them down field they won't throw a flag every play.  Brian Kelly calls that out in his press conference and boom, we had 3 pi calls in the first couple series of the game.  Hoke never should have said it publicly.

Harbaugh imo got himself a lot of flack for attacking the officiating in his press conferences and they notice that stuff.  Imo, that 2016 game was big ten officials telling Jim to F-off...

I do prefer "full stop" to writing out "period" fwiw. It's as if the writer had forgotten what one of these "." is. Both of which should be replaced with one of these "!" when one is trying to make a point emphatically. It's like they think that grammar rules do not apply to them or something. You might think you are above the law, but you're not above grammar! Period!!!

Which leads me to my disdain for one word sentences. You see, sentences should be able to stand alone without context. For example "Sad." is not a sentence. It may be used as a response to a question, but to simply inject an adjective into space makes no sense!

Ok, I feel better now. I had no idea opining could be so cathartic. Peace!

No, I prefer my AD doing his job behind the scenes like a professional not a loud mouth jackass like OSU AD.  Explain to me what Gene Smith accomplished by complaining about the loss to Clemson?  The still didn’t play in the NC.  Name another AD that complains the way OSU does.

How is Gene Smith relevant to this? First of all, his programs win literally more than 90% of their games, so he doesn't have much to bitch about. Secondly, what happened after he bitched about the game against Clemson? Nothing. He looked like a child and that's it. OSU didn't get a do over or an apology. They lost.
