Game thread posters can eat crow here
You know who you are. Come here and admit that you don’t know shit and that Juwan is a fantastic coach dealing with a young growing team.
February 26th, 2023 at 4:44 PM ^
Or maybe, just maybe, the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
February 26th, 2023 at 5:01 PM ^
I wasn't in the game thread and I do have issues with much of what Juwan is doing or not doing, but we won without our 2nd leading scorer twice in a row now against desperate teams and for that I give him tremendous credit!
That being said, I want to say fuck you CBS for leaving our game when OT started to go to the UCLA game and I missed the whole OT except for cursory cut ins, mother fucking assholes!!!!
February 26th, 2023 at 5:10 PM ^
Perhaps the only downside of living where it is 72 degrees in February.
February 26th, 2023 at 5:18 PM ^
Haha, yes M-Dog, indeed the weather is sublime here but it's been cold and rainy a lot lately, we needed the rain but 72 has been rare lately.
It is sunny today but still the high is in the 50's, brrrrrr.
February 26th, 2023 at 5:24 PM ^
Yep, they stuck with the game here in the Chicago area.
February 26th, 2023 at 5:28 PM ^
I was in San Diego in February once when it got down into the 30's at night. Frost on my windshield when I went out to my car.
I was impressed.
Of course the next day it was sunny and in the 70s.
February 26th, 2023 at 6:07 PM ^
Nope. Sunny and 72 in February here in Florida and we got the whole game!
February 26th, 2023 at 5:10 PM ^
Must have ben a location thing, they showed the entire OT in Michigan.
February 26th, 2023 at 5:51 PM ^
As someone who works in TV and deals with these kind of things, yes, it is. If a local area team is playing a late game, CBS will enforce a mandatory pullout to ensure coverage of that game starts on time in those markets. Obviously, no good for the Michigan fans in San Diego. FOX will do the same thing during football and basketball season, too.
EDIT: I'll also add it works the other way, too. On a typical football Sunday CBS will air 4-5 regional games in the early time slot of a doubleheader. Lets say the Lions are playing in the early game. The Detroit CBS station will probably be designated a "Constant," meaning that station will stick with the game in its entirety. Let say Detroit is willing 49-7 in the third quarter. CBS has the option to pull away from the game to air a more competitive contest (one of their other regional games), however the Detroit CBS station will stay with the game while others will be switched away.
February 26th, 2023 at 8:09 PM ^
I was with you all the way up to the point where you said "Let's say Detroit is winning 49-7 in the 3rd quarter."
February 27th, 2023 at 8:35 AM ^
Yeah and I was with him until he said "mandatory pull out". lol
February 27th, 2023 at 7:55 AM ^
On the other hand, if the local Michigan Wolverines hockey team is on the CW and goes to a shootout and it's also time for a re-run of The Big Bang Theory to start, obviously you gotta cut away from the game and start the sitcom.
February 26th, 2023 at 6:06 PM ^
The outcome can be summarized by the last 2 seconds in regulation. Hunter handles a high pass, takes one dribble to get his feet turned around and set, and cans a 27 foot 3-pointer as the light on the backboard welcomes it by lighting up. Down goes Wisconsin's daubers, up goes Michigan's confidence and the OT became a foregone conclusion. What a win!
February 26th, 2023 at 7:07 PM ^
Here in north Texas where it is a very nice 74, we saw the whole thing.
February 26th, 2023 at 5:48 PM ^
We got the whole thing on YouTube tv. What a great game!
February 26th, 2023 at 6:13 PM ^
Sorry Mick but my cable channel up here in Michigan stayed with the whole game. CBS did dump out of the end of the OSU game to get to the start of the Michigan/Wisc game.
February 26th, 2023 at 6:54 PM ^
Damn CBS, couldn’t believe it then realized UCLA was playing, but how do not atleast provide a split screen ?
as long as we won, I’ll take it
February 26th, 2023 at 7:53 PM ^
Yeah, here in Denver I had to scramble to get the CBS app downloaded and running. My mom is in town visiting and I was dropping several F-bombs in the process which I normally try not to do around her lol.
February 26th, 2023 at 11:02 PM ^
I was in a bar in LA and the entire place went up in arms when they switched over. Thank god for CBS online or whatever it was…entire place was on phones trying to watch overtime.
February 26th, 2023 at 5:04 PM ^
Seriously, do we have to have one of these threads either way after every game?
February 26th, 2023 at 5:12 PM ^
Nice comma placement.
February 26th, 2023 at 5:19 PM ^
Less talking. Eat it.
Big time W!!
February 26th, 2023 at 4:45 PM ^
Hell yeah! Reveal yourselves! Mea culpa, motherfuckers!
February 26th, 2023 at 7:43 PM ^
When that shot got blocked, I turned off the tv and went out to my garage. To relieve the sadness, I did some wood working for two hours. I looked at my phone and saw that they came back. Damn, I missed it.

Never give up.
February 26th, 2023 at 4:47 PM ^
Everyone before the second to last possession is begging for Juwan to run PnR with Kobe and put the ball in his hands. Juwan did exactly that. And the usual suspects descended to crucify Juwan for his decision after the timeout. Just shut up if you only want to criticize (wrongly lots of the time).
February 26th, 2023 at 4:50 PM ^
It was a great play executed perfectly the refs just didn’t call an obvious foul.
February 26th, 2023 at 4:52 PM ^
Until the Bufkin And-1 in OT I had just come to the conclusion they weren’t going to call any fouls for Michigan and that was that.
February 26th, 2023 at 5:19 PM ^
The hands to the Kobe’s head was a clear flagrant 1. They missed it on the floor earlier w Dug. I guess it was a fool me twice situation. That almost cost us the game.
Then they hit Kobe with a whistle when he got all ball. Like ALL ball. Not a Grayson Allen or brad davison all ball. A Tayshaun Prince all ball
February 26th, 2023 at 5:32 PM ^
yeah, its amazing the weak crap that gets called on Kobe but they'll let an offensive player throw shoulder into the defensive player over and over dislodging the defender all the way to the hoop. Forever I've had a problem with how low post defense is called.
February 27th, 2023 at 8:48 AM ^
Agree with most of this, but Kobe got all ball after holding the Wisky player for like 3 steps and fouling him before he went up. Foul should have been called before the shot attempt, but they were in double bonus anyways. But yeah, lots of contact by Wisky that wasnt being called.
February 26th, 2023 at 5:32 PM ^
I actually forgot about this place and the wonder weenies of the live threads for several hours. Just came over to celebrate and see that at mgoblog you can't stop people from harshing the vibe even when things are at their best. Duly noted. Between subvert racism and stupidity, these people cover a lot of bandwidth. Fuck 'em. Juwan's gonna be here for a long, long time to come, and for the haters you can only hope it hurts. Hell, he's been facing Michigan's scary from a pup--Michigan fans didn't even want the Fab V on the floor. Thanks for the continuity!

whoa!
So, how does one criticize Juwan without being racist?

See: Fab Five
That's definitely not how.

February 26th, 2023 at 4:48 PM ^
I'm sure JH drew it up so HD is taking a last second contested shot from 7 feet behind the line to put it into overtime... Genius Lloyd, shear genius!
But it went in and all is right with the world!
February 26th, 2023 at 4:53 PM ^
Just as any coach draws up a banked in 3 to put UM in that position to begin with.
February 26th, 2023 at 4:53 PM ^
shear
February 26th, 2023 at 6:08 PM ^
A real cut-up!
February 26th, 2023 at 5:36 PM ^
That’s how I would’ve drawn it up. HD is not option 1 on that, but if things break down, throwing it in to your 7’1” guy, who is a good three point shooter, behind the line is the smart thing to do.
February 26th, 2023 at 8:11 PM ^
Reminds me of how the Pistons would use Terry Mills for these game-tying or winning situations. Have a big who could hit a three is a good pick.
February 27th, 2023 at 7:59 AM ^
There would have been a lot of complaining about JH taking 2 timeouts in a row with about 20 seconds left in regulation (and leaving UM with 0 remaining timeouts) if Hunter hadn't drained the 3.
