Gallon Redemption Thread

Submitted by Ziff72 on

One of my roles on this board is to mention that sometimes kids are forced to play before they are ready and give them some time they are only freshmen and shouldn't be playing.

It seems I've seen 1 or 15 or 20 comments about why is Gallon returning kicks?   Gallon can't catch.  Gallon is a bust.  Etc..

He's looked smooth all 3 games returning the ball.  Made a great return that got called back and obviously made some big plays on offense.

You can make your apologies here.

I was definitely critical of Gallon last year. And I am so happy that he is becoming a great reciving threat and returner for us. He has speed, but tried to do too much last year, when he had too little to work with. I'm thrilled that he has played so well lately. Great job, Gallon!

I was pretty excited about him last year, and thought he had big time potential.  Glad to see him breaking out this year, hopefully there's more to come.

Heh, last year I made a comment about how I felt Gallon was the 2nd most explosive player on offense, but didn't really have the route running/hands to be a good WR yet. I got a lot of heat for that comment. Glad to see that once he ironed out some of the kinks on offense that he's showing my comment to be at least close to correct. Dude is amazing in the open field, will be very interesting to see how he's used in the next couple years.

Has always had insane speed, I figured if they could tech him to hold onto the ball he would fit in nicely, I do think hes a bit undersized, but as a slot in college he is a great fit and has blazing speed and never quits on the play. I love how he goes up for the ball too.

I must admit he has been a very nice surprise this year. He has impressed me in many instances, probably the most with his catch and run vs. ND. On that play you can essentially say he won us the game. If you watch the catch he came very close to falling after the catch which would have put him down at about the 50 yard line. I don't think we win if he doesn't keep his balance and make that run after the catch. He is doing very well.

I cannot explain why CRAIG JAMES KILLED 5 HOOKERS WHILE AT SMU.  It was a horrible event when CRAIG JAMES KILLED 5 HOOKERS WHILE AT SMU.  he still walks free, but I know deep in his heart CRAIG JAMES feels bad that he KILLED 5 HOOKERS WHILE AT SMU.

Gallon looks great. I'm very happy for him. Its just another case of a kid growing and getting older. It's been rough playing all these guys at such young ages but it's coming around now. Go Blue.

Good by Gallon.  Hopefully he can continue improving throughout the season.  But questioning some of his playing time early wasn't horrible - it was logical based on his production.  That said, I am hugely in the Gallon camp right now.

Gallon has been a pleasant surprise in the return game this year.  Against ND he had a huge 25 yard gain off a punt near the end, and against EMU he had the 60 yarder that got called back because of something that happened behind the play.  Perhaps he did this in practice last year and just biffed in the games, hence always getting the nod.

The only problem with his emergence; Brent Musberger's going to make some brutal puns on his name and size. ("Folks, he may be pint-sized, but he's worth a full Gallon...")
