Friday POSBANG Pacific Northwest Edition

It's still warm out, leaves haven't fallen yet (in Macomb County anyway), and the last storm didn't knock out power or drop any big branches.

I spent some of my post college youth in Seattle, Tacoma, and Portland.  Beautiful areas.  Let's send UW home empty handed.

Part of my childhood home's street address included

3922 ******** Avenue, NW

Does this allow me to post in the exclusive Northwest edition POSBANG?

(NW, NE, SE, or SW used to be part of everyone's address in Kent County)

I spent the last year in Portland before moving back to the Midwest for a job this summer. Best place I've ever lived. It's just so beautiful there and I miss it already.

Oh, and let's crush Washington.

I'm a Michigan-Washington kind of guy.

Helping to put myself through Michigan, I fought forest fires in Oregon and Washington. That included a fire in the Olympia rain forest, and we got rained on as we fought the fire. (I also worked at Farmer Peet's meat packing plant in Michigan.)

I fell in love in Oregon, had a fling there too—and a near miss in Coos Bay—and later had another fling in Seattle.

I skied Mt. Hood, saw Shakespeare plays in Ashland, climbed Mt. Thielsen, and attended 2 conferences in Seattle.

Though accepted to the University of Washington, I returned to the Midwest.

Seattle is an absolutely beautiful city to explore, especially on foot and in the spring.  It’s almost impossible to take a bad picture of the cityscape.  One of the ancillary pleasures for me was seeing all the little urban design things they did to adjust to being a skinny city with lots of slopes and shores.  You should absolutely rent a kayak on Lake Union and take a leisurely bike ride along the Burke Gilman Trail.  Rays Boathouse is a terrific seafood place at the west shore of the Ballard neighborhood and if you’re lucky you can see sea lions basking in the water while you wait/eat.

Also, they’re far more emo about housing prices and the Seahawks then they are about college football so, really, the best thing for everyone’s happiness is for us to beat U-Dub.

The last storm? To me, and some of you know what I do for a living, it is still the first storm as I've worked them with little break since late June. What a summer indeed.

However, today is quiet and I can actually do things I am supposed to be doing - like pick up some of the branches that fell out of my maple tree. Nature will take that tree yet.

Looking forward to this banging weekend. Picking up my new (to me) fifth wheel this afternoon. Will spend most of tomorrow getting it ready to take it out for a short shakedown cruise next week. Great football game to watch tomorrow night. Let's Go Blue, make those Huskies whimper like little puppies!
