FRIDAY LONG WEEKEND POSBANG
It's the official Friday before the long weekend POSBANG! I hope you guys drink all weekend and make your valentine's happy because I sure will.
It's freezing cold in NYC (supposed to go down to -30 degrees for real) and I'm sure it's chilly in Michigan too. Stay warm and let's POSBANG to better days ahead!

My Valentine's story:
Before my wife was my wife, I was interested in her, but she wasn't too interested in me. Anyway, I had talked her into having dinner on Valentine's Day (since we were both single at the time) and I thought that we were having a good time talking and eating until she says to me in the middle of dinner "Just because we're having dinner together on Valentine's Day does not mean we are seeing each other and we'll never be more than just friends." Hearing that totally sucked, but I hung in there and now that we're married, I always joke to her on Valentine's Day "hey, I thought you said that we'll never be more than friends!!!"
It's funny how life works out!

Was there anything specific that got her to change her mind about you or did you just wear her down?

I think just being there for her throughout the years. Anytime she had a problem or wanted to talk about something I would listen and give her my honest advice. Then when she moved closer to me (she was away in a different city for law school for a while), we finally hit it off.
As Coach likes to say, I won the small victories every day, and it lead to the big victory at the end!

My wife and I as a rule tend to avoid the Hallmark holidays. I plan on getting supplies for the kids so they can do something crafty for their mom, but that's about it. I think my wife half-expected a Valentine when we first met, but after I told her that I would much rather re-enact the legend and beheading of St. Valentine on the front lawn just to see what the neighbors would think, she hasn't mentioned it since. Wait until she sees the shipment of garter snakes that is due to arrive right before St. Patrick's Day, right? That re-enactment could be fun.
