Bummer. I'd pass the Fountains of Wayne location that they got their name from all the time by me and I'd think of the band. I didn't care for "Stacey's Mom" much but I dug "Radiation Vibe" back in the 90's. He played bass. Only 52 years old.

Coward. Why did you edit this post?

”getting boring with all these third rate celebrities dying. I can’t wait until the queen or Sean Connery dies.”

Or whatever. Fucking spineless asshole.

Your whole posting history is things like; You’re an asshole. This thread is stupid. The OP is a stupid asshole. You people are so fucking dumb, etc....The amount of anger you must have is pretty damn high.
Whatever, I’ve got better things to do than get in a pissing match with you. Go find something else to rage about, I’m sure it’ll take you all of 0.04 seconds to do so.

dude, man (or woman) up and take the L.  own up to a really nasty post and attitude.  it'll gain you credibility that you aren't going to get back any other way.

hat tip to JPC.

Welcome Interstate Managers is one of my favorite albums, and yeah Stacy's Mom is probably the second worst song on it.

Dude could write a killer pop hook.  Radiation Vibe is great, as you point out.  Also did all the music for Crazy Ex-Girfriend and a bunch of other movies and TV.

That's too bad. I'm not going to pretend that I was familiar with all of their work, but I knew the songs that were played on "alternative" radio stations. "Radiation Vibe" is great, as is "Red Dragon Tattoo." I think both are better than "Stacy's Mom," even if that's by far their biggest hit.

Thank you for the post.  Definitely first rate.

I didn't know about all the song writing in the background.  I always had a fondness for "That Thing You Do."

Sad times.  I did enjoy listening  to some music not from my usual play list.

He was also, like Duncan Robinson (and me), a Williams College alum. I overlapped with him for a year, and his college band (which included another Fountains of Wayne member) was pretty good.

I loved that song since my step-son's friends used to sing it about my wife - "Billy's Mom Has Got It Going On"..

I just came off of 9 days of fever as high as 104 and have been in quarantine for 15 days.  Hard to believe that 19 days ago, I was hiking with skis on my pack at 13,000' to ski double-black extreme terrain.

This one is crushing for me. Welcome Interstate Managers came out when I was a kid and was the first "grown up" album my dad gave me. He and I listened to every song, probably a thousand times. We'd drive up north on the weekends and I will always remember leaning against the glass in the back seat of our minivan, with my walkman playing that album.

I'll echo what's been said above, but while Stacy's Mom is a catchy, classic pop song, the rest of their work leaves it in the dust. I'd recommend checking out Bright Future in Sales, Firelight Waltz, Valley Winter Song, All Kinds of Time, Radiation Vibe, Troubled Times, and Maureen.

RIP Adam.
