The first domino OFFICIALLY falls - Don Brown
Don Brown has been removed from the official Athletic Department site at mgoblue.com. It’s interesting that Mark Tuarisani is still on there given Illinois announced him already, but it’s good to see some official movement on the assistants even if we knew this already. I wonder if we’ll learn anything more today after the Athletic Department has thrown zero official crumbs until today.

When did that happen? There are reports that he’ll be joining Fisch at Arizona, but I haven’t seen anything official

I guess I'll be lightly following Arizona again. Fisch and Brown will likely have a small number of players who were originally RichRod recruits. Interesting.

I keep wondering how much of Don Brown's departure was Harbaugh wanting to make a move with his DC, and how much of it was Brown forcing Harbaugh to make a move so he could go find another job.
Brown's been around a while, was clearly able to see the writing on the wall, knows there's not likely to be any resolution with Harbaugh's contract any time soon, and therefore not much resolution with staff positions. Getting fired in December gave him the opportunity to have options for another DC job.
Don't get me wrong, his time here was definitely over, but it's been a little odd he's been the only announced change and the rest are just rumored.

Agree that Brown realized he was gone regardless. My guess is Brown may have even gone and negotiated an exit package so he could go looking.

Is it normal not to officially announce letting go of an assistant or do programs only typically make official announcements on new hires? I'd think the HC should be available to answer these sorts of questions from media, no?

as a developer I appreciate the assumption that the dev/web team gets told these things in advance like we are a special group with access to all the secrets. I regret to inform you that this is likely more mundane in that when someone leaves a ticket is filed with a bunch of tasks and scrubbing the website is, best case, the last thing. Or more likely someone remembers after the fact and it gets pulled.

Why the negs? The news isn’t that Don Brown is gone, it’s that the Athletic Department has given some morsel of information and acknowledged something about our coaches for the first time since the Manuel/Harbaugh press conference saying they’d talk at season’s end. I think that’s pretty newsworthy.
