ESPN Recruiting Staff predictions on remaining recruits (Diamond to Michigan)
If you're looking for a little pick me up on the recruiting front, 6 out of 7 recruiting experts over at ESPN predict Diamond to Michigan. It's behind a paywall, but I'll link for those that can access:
Also interesting to see tOSU the favorite for Davonte Neal and Jamal Marcus even though they are supposodely over their cap for the year already. There is a lot of negative you can say about Urban, but his history at Florida was actually on the right side of the law when it comes to over recruiting, so this will be interesting...

If ESPN predicts it, then it's bound not to happen.

They were unfortunately right on Garnett, Reeves and Kozan, let's hope they keep that streak going...

Predictions on football recruiting has never been their strength has it?

Well they were correct on Madaris and Kozan...
Hopefully they get Diamond right as well

Out of the missed recruits over the past week, the only one I was at all shocked was Reeves. And even that wasn't complete shock, his decision had some basis to it from his point of view. I think all the other targets were leans to the places they ended up, even in my mind, and that most of the optimism around here was due to us being Michigan fans. So ESPN predicting them, while obviously better than them getting it wrong, isn't all that spectacular.
Diamond, on the other hand, I think has been much more difficult to read than the recruits of this past week. I hope he goes to Michigan, but I still think it's about 50/50 between Michigan and Arkansas. With him, his "lean" (aka what people assume he is thinking rather than any actual info) has always been a 'what have you done for me lately' type process. It has switched every month in analysts minds, which to me means they really don't have any idea, and neither does anyone else really besides hopefully Diamond.

Between gut-feelings, reliable sources and tweets from committed recruits, we've had a wide range of people missing the mark this month.

start a board topic so I'll link the Grantland article I just read about recruiting here. Pretty nice article in my opinion. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/7507996/dorial-green-beckham-gunner-kiel-rest-top-prospects-high-school-football It mentions Michigan and also has a few recruit predictions.

This was posted a few days ago. It is a nice article though.

I apparently missed it.

Already posted on 28 Jan. Word of advice, paste the URL into the Google search (right above diaries) and search. That will let you see if people already posted the link on MGoBlog or not.

Poor Urban riding dirty out of the gate. What an idiot! Not only at limit, but with sanctions.

1) Don't refer to the Buckeyes as "tOSU." That is what Buckeye fans do and it's lame.
2) If you don't call them "Ohio," then just call them "OSU." Drop the "t" and leave it to the Buckeye fans to do that. It's lame even when they do it, but even worse when Michigan fans do it.

Kind of off topic but when is UM's junior day? Hearing alot about OSU's junior day.

Henceforth, I will invoke Coach Wooden's wise counsel to avoid emotional highs and lows and remain at an even keel about this recruitin' business. Getting my hopes up based on other folks' educated guesses about what an 18-year-old kid will do is about as useful as putting a milk bucket under a bull.

2 weeks ago, with all the prospects in consideration, I had the worst feeling about Diamond.

I wonder with Reeves out of the running now if it brings Wayne Morgan back into the picture..?? I couldn't remember if we wanted him as a corner of safety

We needed a guy that has potential to start. Wayne Morgan was highly over rated and proved to be something different than what people thought. I would much rather bank the scholly and work toward a good DB class next year. They are off to a good start.
