so much for that
Jordan Diamond
Jordan Diamond not to Michigan per Ondre Pipkins
Per Ondre Pipkins, who I just spoke with, and his Twitter, Jordan Diamond is "100% not coming to Michigan".
EDIT: "his twitter" being Pipkins, not Diamond, just to be clear.
EDIT2: I am just going on what Ondre told me. I have no first hand sources with Diamond so I am only reporting what Ondre has said.
The "Five of Diamond's" theory
On the scout board, there is an interesting discussion of Diamond’s apparent statement that he will “shock the world” tomorrow. Is it bad news or is it a reference to the Fab Five (offensive line commitments at UM, if he comes).
I call this the “Five of Diamond’s” theory (ie the theory that Diamond was referrring to the (Fab) FIve when he said he would shock the world.). And if he picks UM, I will give him Michelin's FIve Diamonds award.

SCOUT BOARD
“Sam Webb interviewed Hoke yesterday at the WTKA Signing Day Extravaganza. And Webb asked Hoke about the possibility of landing any more kids. Hoke replied something like "a Texas sized piece and an Alaska sized piece". To me that says he means two large players. So obviously the staff is holding out hope for landing either or both of these kids.
Unfortunately I'm starting to get a feeling we land neither. Think I read on ******* last night that Jordan Diamond tweeted he's going to shock the world. Well going to Michigan will not shock anybody. So it would have to be a team people hardly expected him to go to. So that puts Auburn,Wisconsin and who knows? maybe even something crazy like OHIO. “
“Could it be that Diamond is referencing the fab five when Juwan Howard said they were gonna "shock the world"? He was also another Chicago boy. Diamond is going blue and Kozan is going Auburn... Book it.”
“I hope that's what he meant.”
“ A poster on the r*ivals board also takes the statement as a reference to the "Fab FIve" and believes that it is not only a good omen for UM. As a member of a school that competes with UM, he regrets that it is now a foregone conclusion that Diamond will pick UM.”

“I thought something similar.... But he has kept things so close to the vest it is hard to really get a feel.”
“I think you're spot on here”
”He has been coy. But he also said at the beginning he was going to go thru the process. He took all his officials and yet he has been to UM like 6 times. I think this is a kid who was always going blue, yet he wanted to enjoy the trips plus get some exposure for his boys at Simeon High.”
ESPN Recruiting Staff predictions on remaining recruits (Diamond to Michigan)
If you're looking for a little pick me up on the recruiting front, 6 out of 7 recruiting experts over at ESPN predict Diamond to Michigan. It's behind a paywall, but I'll link for those that can access:
Also interesting to see tOSU the favorite for Davonte Neal and Jamal Marcus even though they are supposodely over their cap for the year already. There is a lot of negative you can say about Urban, but his history at Florida was actually on the right side of the law when it comes to over recruiting, so this will be interesting...
Diamond/Grant/Muller/Henry aside, who else is a realistic recruit target?
I woke up and realized that we have 28 slots for 2012, with 23 verbal commits and 4 target left (Diamond/Grant/Muller/Henry). Assign each target a possibility factor:
- Diamond: 0.6
- Grant: 0.6
- Muller: 0.5
- Henry: 0.75
That gives us 2.45 commits. From what I learned on "Super Sunday", I will take 2 out of the 4.
Are we going to bank 3 schollies, or we just rub more snake oil to commits of Purdues? Who else is a realistic target?
Diamond and Gregory announcing together- bad for us?
ESPN ($) is reporting that teammates Jordan Diamond and QB Robert Gregory will both be announcing their decisions on February 3rd. Could this be bad news for Michigan? The only common team they have in their final schools is Arkansas. Assuming they have not made up their minds yet, this obviously could mean nothing-- but if Michigan had two recruits on their radar who were teammates and decided to announce together, I'd be pretty excited.
Considering his status as a prospect and how long Diamond has been discussed on this site, it is pretty impressive how he's kept everything so close to the vest. Hopefully Garnett's decision today will turn out well and (positively) influence the remaining recruits.
Diamond: Arkansas, Auburn, Michigan, Ohio State and Wisconsin
Gregory: Arkansas, Kansas, Minnesota and Purdue
Reminder: Garnett decision set for 6pm Eastern
Detailed Armani Reeves and Jordan Diamond updates
This should get interesting.
EDIT: I should also add that I'll be talking to Armani shortly after his visit from Coach Mattison.
Here it is, enjoy: LINK
