agreed, I knew that would be huge when I saw him drop it, looked like it could have been returned for a TD.

He's too white to have scored, but he would have went a long way.
October 16th, 2010 at 8:56 PM ^
Is that supposed to be funny?
October 16th, 2010 at 9:14 PM ^
And it was.
October 16th, 2010 at 11:32 PM ^
Disagree. If Kovacs makes the pick he would have scored - he is way too "gritty and heady" not to have turned it into a pick 6
October 16th, 2010 at 10:37 PM ^
we could sit here and nitpick all day pointing out things that would have changed the complexion of the game if they had gone our way. More than anything I was happy to see us fighting after we got way down. It really sucks to lose, but after we crumpled last week, it was nice to see that we still had some fight in us. Go Blue!

He still played well IMO. He is probably be the most consistent player in the secondary.
October 16th, 2010 at 8:58 PM ^
Oh. I was sure you were going to make a comment about his being one of the most dependable tacklers on the team.
The multiple penalties are what are sticking out in my mind right now, specifically the drive-killers on offense, not one potential interception.

Wasn't there already a Kovacs thread posted? He is the classic over-achiever, can't have enough of those guys on the team.
October 16th, 2010 at 9:02 PM ^
Yeah, he's way to slow to return anything back for a pick-6. But I applauded his effort, and I was hoping after that play to see more Stanzi-ball, where he likes to throw it to the other team more than his own.
October 16th, 2010 at 9:04 PM ^
If the other defenders block as well as they tackle he wouldn't have returned it, but a few blocks on WRs might have allowed him to score.
October 16th, 2010 at 9:10 PM ^
Wouldn't it have been great to see a foot race between Kovacs and Stanzi on a pick 6? That could've been the greatest pick 6 I have witness other than Shaun Rogers running one back against the Broncos 3 years ago.

the smartest players I have ever seen. He made some huge plays and it seems he never misses tackles.
Also, if he catches that ball he's gone. No question. The only person that was close was that receiver and he would have had 10 yards on him by the time he got turned around. That play may have been the difference. It really would have changed the complection of the game.

And other than Robinson and the WR's, is the guy I most enjoy watching on this team.
October 16th, 2010 at 9:47 PM ^
It is sad and awesome, all at the same time, that a former walkon is probably our best defensive player at this point.
Kudos to Kovacs for all the hard work he's put in to get to where he is today.
October 16th, 2010 at 10:10 PM ^
Agreed, I can't wait to tell my son this story when he's old enough to get discouraged about his spot on a team.

Look at that tackling form. Breaking down, arms ready to wrap up, head up, getting low. I love it.
October 16th, 2010 at 10:06 PM ^
...but BIG UPS to Mr. Kovacs from this corner. I'm sure he has many more inspired plays ahead in his Michigan football career.
October 16th, 2010 at 10:10 PM ^
Wow.. Before the season when I said something positive about Kovacs I was negged I've always supported him
October 16th, 2010 at 10:15 PM ^
I would move Kovacs to OLB with Demens at MLB and JM at the other OLB. Put four on the d-line with Roh and RVB at the d-ends. Then I would move JTF to saftey with Gordon and put Avery at CB along with Rogers.

I'm ready for anything that would hold a Big 10 opponent under thirty points a game. Your scheme is as reasonable as any I've seen GERG throw out there. This 3-3-5 lineup was ridiculed before the season even started and now I see why. I also wouldn't mind having Will Campbell play as part of a four man front.
October 16th, 2010 at 10:26 PM ^
He made some very sure, solid tackles. I still can't get over the fact that the dude walked on. As for the potential pick, from my angle it looked like he wasn't even trying to make the interception. It seemed like he just batted the ball down to break up the play.
October 16th, 2010 at 10:50 PM ^
Kovacs played like a hoss today.
October 16th, 2010 at 11:43 PM ^
It seemed like he was all over today. As bad as things were, he made me smile every time he made a play.
Do the coaches get any credit for his development as a player? Or are they only responsible when underclassmen make mistakes?
