Best of luck to him, but he's being set up for failure. EMU is where football goes to die.

If he ever gets that team bowl-eligible, he should win national coach of the year. EMU is the tire fire of tire fires.

Seeing as Chris Creighton came from Drake to EMU, I attempted to make a pun about "Starting from the bottom, now he's here," but I unfortunately couldn't get myself to say EMU was "here." Hopefully he can get something good going in Ypsi.

Will become relevant in football is if they drop to 1AA. They can't recruit with the likes of Albion and olivet let alone Mac schools. Like the last poster said. Eastern is where coaches go to die!
I wish him luck but with no alum-student-regent support he's doomed to fail.

Would Hart have wanted the EMU job? It just seems like a sandpit there. No real campus or energy to the school. I'm sure it's a decent enough place to get a degree, but it doesn't seem like the football program can get any traction.

Kenyon football and Michigan grad school alumnus here! Chris Creighton has worked his way up the coaching ladder, and he is the kind of guy would value a chance to coach in FBS. While I am surprised that Curtis Blackwell wasn't in the mix given his work with Sound Mind, Sound Body, I think that this is a great hire. Creighton understands how to win with less talent, and that gives him a chance to be really good at EMU. We'll see how this works out.

EMU...ugh. I'm sorry, but it's a dead end job. I know we have kind of adopted EMU as our baby brother, but sheesh. I applaud any coach who accepts that job. I hope EMU becomes a good program, but I just don't think it can.

Since I've been photographing for Eagle Totem, I've been following the team pretty closely for the past 3 years.  They have some flashes of decency in the players.  They've got two pretty good running backs that should be returning next season.  Roback and Benz are okay quarterbacks.  The line has some issues but with a new coach, maybe that will be decent.  I'm not sure if the defense is crap or the coach was crap.  So who knows.

Guy's never had a losing season in 16 years as a head coach at the NAIA, D3 and FCS levels. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't take this job if he didn't believe he could do something at Eastern, and he probably can... I'd exect one of those fluke 9 win MACtion seasons and then the head coaching job at Kansas or something.
