Why do people give a shit about the B1G? I care about Michigan, fuck everyone else. This is the equivalent of SEC chest thumpers riding the coattails of the Alabama Football Conference.
September 9th, 2017 at 7:31 PM ^
I mean, if you don't see how cheering for the B1G benefits Michigan....
At the same time, it's just funny to see Rutgers lose. Because they're going to lose more often than not anyway. And they're Rutgers. Might as well celebrate Eastern winning one at their expense.

I see your point but I don't ever see a scenario where an undefeated Michigan team doesnt make the playoff, regardless of the overal performance of the conference. I can't pretend to be upset about the thought of OSU, MSU and PSU going 0-12 year in and year out.

Can't default to "Michigan will go undefeated, so it doesn't matter." When you need some help, when the B1G doesn't get the attention it deserves against the SEC, you need as many good B1G teams as possible.

Keep telling yourself that when there are multiple 1-loss teams and a 1-loss Michigan needs SOS to push them over the top.

Even the computers know that Rutgers sucks.
September 9th, 2017 at 11:33 PM ^
Did you not see what happened to the Big 12? The Big 10's rep is good right now, but a few years ago (if there was a CFP), no chance does a 2nd B1G team get in. It benefits us for the B1G to be well regarded because in the event we need it, it'll help us secure that #4 spot if we don't go undefeated
September 9th, 2017 at 7:43 PM ^
You're sure M would go if Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma and USC were all undefeated? Those of us who remember a split championship for the 1997 team (and those who know a little history) can see such a scenario.

You don't think conference strength matters to the playoff committee? Rutgers doesn't matter, but it's good to see teams like Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska, etc win early in the year.
Fuck OSU, MSU and PSU every week though.

Yes it is.

Anything that makes Jim Delaney look like a fucking moron is good for Michigan and that includes the mountain of evidence that bringing Rutgers into the conference was a mistake.

11th straight loss for the chronic-cryer Chris Ash.
I wouldn't really count this as a "win over a Big Ten team" tho.

Legit one of the ugliest last 5 minutes of football I've seen in years... But that was enjoyable.
Rutgers: Returning to Glory Since 1869.

I'd be pretty surprised if anyone else (outside the MAC) ever went 0-2 against Washtenaw County in a single season. It requires us to a) both be on your schedule and b) have Eastern not suck. Odds of that happening is low
