At #2 in the odds!

NO BARSTOOL LINKS. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Until they’re down 2 scores…I do see Iowa doubling him, and Ojabo a lot, though since they don’t have 2 NFL tackles they think can go 1-on-1 like OSU made the mistake of…If they only throw 20 times, you could see Hutch hitting the QB 10 times without being too crazy…

Two reasons why Hutch is skyrocketing in the Heisman chances...

1. Because he really is the most outstanding football player in all of college football. (Duh)

2. Because when Michigan has great teams, they are the most popular college football team in the country.  The press cant get enough of them, especially when UM has a once in a generation defensive player like Hutchinson.  (Think 1997 Woodson, and the maddening amount of press Woodson received.)

I dont think Hutchinson will win the Heisman.  Iowa simply doesnt throw the ball often enough for Hutchinson to truly shine like he did against the pass-happy ShmuckEyes.  But Hutchinson is definitely going to NYC.

True, and Iowa knows UM has the best pass rush in college football.  Do you honestly believe Iowa will throw the ball more than run it?  Iowa's ONLY CHANCE to win this game is to ram the ball down the middle of UM's D-line, where Hutchinson and Ojabo have less impact.

No way Iowa throws the ball more than 20 times on Saturday.  They are committing football suicide otherwise.

Iowa does have a choice.  Whether they are down by 2 TDs, 4TDs, etc, it doesnt matter.  Iowa has to keep running the ball up the middle.  We have already established it's football suicide if Iowa tries to continually throw the ball.

The score doesnt change Iowa's only path to winning.  No matter the score, the only way Iowa wins is to smash UM with some kind of run game.  Ferentz knows this. Ferentz knows throwing the ball, no matter the score, makes it even more difficult for Iowa to win.  The whole damn country knows it.  Ferentz will keep running the ball no matter what.  Book it. It's simple common sense.

Aren't you the guy who told us to "book it" that Corum would be out four weeks if he had a high ankle sprain?

For the record, Iowa's two quarterbacks (Petras and Padilla) have combined to throw 333 passes this year - 27.8 per game.  Most of the defenses they've faced are worse than Michigan's.

Hopefully you're not actually booking these predictions.

Lol the reason why he's skyrocketing is because there are no QBs having crazy years.

If Bama beats UGA, expect their QB to win. But Hutchinson basically ruined Stroud's chances even though Stroud had a good game.

I expect it to be Bryce Young, Hutchinson and Stroud as the 3 in NYC.

As for who wins...Saturday will be the deciding factor. If Young struggles and Aidan goes off...I think he wins it.

But I don't see Aidan going off (I think he impacts the game, I just don't see 3 sacks...which is what he needs if he wants to win). Iowa is too conservative. They're going keep a TE in and a RB to chip every time they throw the ball. It's going to be "someone else beat us." They don't have the arrogance of an OSU.

I'm looking for big games from Josh Ross and Dax Hill.

Take advantage of Iowa's 2 and 3 man routes. We have a back 7 strong enough to take that away. I expect a HUGE game from the D.

If they give it to a QB, should be Pickett or Corral, not Young or Stroud. Why reward guys who stand behind 5-star o-linemen and throw to 5-star receivers? Pitt didn't receive any votes in the AP preseason poll, went 10-2 and Pickett's numbers are basically same as Young. Ole Miss doesn't go 10-2 very often either.

I think of it this way -- if you took all the players off all the teams and re-drafted -- and you get the player's performance this year -- who would you take with the 1st pick?

This assumes you do not know who else you will be able to draft.  So you could take Stroud but you probably wouldn't have all of Olave, Wilson, JSN, and Henderson.  Or Brice Young but not surrounded by 5-stars.

I think that argument is definitely there for Hutchinson.  He's not a QB but a valuable rush end can lead an entire defense and is worth a valuable draft pick.

Disagree. I think there simply needs to be a change in how we think about the award. Most Outstanding Player needs to consider all players and not just the best offensive player on the best team.

There should have been defensive winners before Woodson and a few after. It's hard to argue against Suh winning it and yet he didn't. Was he even invited? I sincerely don't remember.

It just needs to be stressed to voters that all positions are valid and have some way for them to see more players. That or change how we vote for it. It just seems bizarre to ignore defense entirely.

Suh absolutely should have won it based on that Texas game alone. He lost it to…Mark Ingram…

Chase Young in other years probably could have won it but he was up against the greatest college QB season of all time in Burrow.

Clowney should have got an invite his sophomore year instead of 5.1 40 Manti Te’o

Well, I’m pretty sure the people who vote for it are a bunch of sports media shills who have made some sort of pact to only choose offensive skill players unless there is an amazing defensive player who also excels a little bit at offense in some way. Such a joke. I hate OSU,  but I think that Orlando Pace should have won too

Suh: 52 solo tackles, 33 assisted (85 total), 20.5 TFL, 12 sacks, 1 INT…. As a defensive tackle. Finished 4th in Heisman voting. The guys ahead of him, Ingram, Gerhart and McCoy.

271 Att, 1658 Yds, 6.1 Avg, 17 TD
343 Att, 1871 Yds, 5.5 Avg, 28 TD
332 Cmp, 470 Att, 3521 Yds, 27 TD, 12 Int

Hutchinson for comparison:

32 solo, 22 ast (54 tot), 14.5 TFL, 13 sack

Maybe the Heisman voters have come around on defensive players a bit, but Hutchinson’s numbers aren’t as impressive as Suh’s were. We all know how much those Heisman voters love numbers

Agree. If Bama beats UGA, Young will get it. However, if UGA wins and Hutch has a solid game against Iowa he could win it. There just isn't a runaway candidate like most years.

He doesn't even have to repeat his OSU performance and I'm not sure he could given Iowa's style. He just needs a notable game to definitely be invited and have a solid chance to win.

It's all optics at this point. 'Bama needs to lose and not do well offensively. Check. Then Aidan needs his team to beat Iowa while having one, preferably two "highlight" type plays: a sack, a big TFL, forcing/recovering a turnover, or a JJ Watt style goal line TD. Michigan will be in the playoff with highlight replays of Aidan's best sacks on every TV all week long.

Gotta think if he has a couple sacks, looks just dominant (which he has for 12 games now) and Bryce Young looks meh in a loss to Georgia…who else do they give the Heisman to?

Two loss Bryce Young who possibly had two bad games to end the year?

CJ Stroud who lost his two toughest games?

Kenneth Walker III who was absent vs OSU?

The only person who has had a “Heisman Moment” was 3 sacks vs multiple 1st Rd picks in taking down their rival; and that is our Michigan Man: Aidan Hutchinson

Yes, logic would completely agree with you.  Guy just broke the Michigan single season sack record, has been ranked #1 in PFF all year.  Is an absolute monster.  Been doing it all season and then capped it off with an epic game v OSU.

Agree that if Young plays mediocre to bad in a loss and Hutch is his usual dominant self in a win, it would be criminal not to give it to him.

The rule for “no Barstool links” is fine but there’s a Barstool YouTube video embedded in the latest “Three Up, Three Down: Hoops Edition.”  Just sayin’.
