I don't want to live in a world where Don Brown isn't at Michigan. I love this guy.

Sorry for no embed. I'm old.

Hes right, we held them to their lowest total yards since 2015. The defense did an outstanding job , they gor turnovers when they were absolutely needed, actually an A+ performance from our defense. The bit about the move call was pretty hilarious, were lucky to have Don Brown thats for sure.

Things have changed. When I coached, once that fullback is in the 3 pt stance, he can not bring that hand up, and go in motion unless it's lateral to the line of scrimmage. Now if his hands were on his thighs I wouldn't have an issue with it, but his hand was on the ground, and once that happens, if he moves toward the line of scrimmage, that's a false start. If any other player started to move forward, that would have been a false start.

Can't believe this rule would have been changed, way too easy to exploit.

The fullback has to be set for a second before the snap, otherwise illegal motion.

He is allowed to motion forward as long as he resets, didn't happen.  Not sure how this is missed.

I also disagree with Brian on the Targeting.  It's true that the player should get leeway since the rb was falling.  But his technique was head first and down, arms at his side using helmet as a ram.

9/10 this helmet hits in the back or ribs or legs.  But he got unlucky, but that's the technique they are trying to get rid of the game

I think the part that is legal now is pushing the ball carrier from behind to get more yards.  The whole 'Bush Push' with USC-ND a few years back is what led to that getting legalized.  The part about the back moving before the snap remains illegal if he doesn't 'get set' before the snap.  I believe that is a one second time frame of being still before the snap.

And yeah, that should not have been a targeting call...

Oh yeah pushing is now allowed as long as you don't grab and pull, or throw.

No way there's a second between the movement of the rb and the ball is snapped.  And It's not like a WR on the outside turning slightly upfield where there's isn't much advantage ..

But it was 1st and goal from the 1 .. The would have scored anyway.

I looked it up in the NCAA football rulebook that night. Except for one player who can be in motion but not moving toward the line of scrimmage, everyone has to be set for one second. That play definitely should have been penalized.

The coolest part of this is you can feel a.) his passion, love, and knowledge of his job and, more importantly b.) the love for his players.  You can tell he'd be somebody you'd love to play for.

That is the best antidote to BPONE there could possibly be. He's saying bring on Wisconsin, that's what we are built to stop! He is lit up.

Schematically, I was dismayed to see them come out in a three-man line. But his answer to it was really good, and you can't argue with the result (though I was surprised Army didn't run the fullback dive more often). There's so much going on that fans don't know.

Right on, dude! That was very uplifting to watch! Definitely put me in a better frame of mind, although my concern has not been with the defense. Looking forward to seeing us get after Wisconsin's offense. If our D can do a pretty solid job at slowing down Taylor, and get them in some 3rd and longs, then Coan better look out. Don Brown is bringing the REAL DEAL to Wisconsin, OK?!?!?!

I have to admit I was down on the defense during/after the game out of emotion but brown gives the best press conferences and has me feeling confident in the defense again...

The offense is a different story.

It is very bizarre to me that anybody was down on the defense after the game. They were on the field more than they wanted to be due to the offenses issues and just like last week the first team defense did not give up a scoring drive that wasn't a short field created by the offensive turnovers. By in large they held Army to what they were shooting for running game wise from a defensive standpoint and crushed them on passes. The defense saved the game with the int and plays in overtime in particular.

Perhaps he is, but he's far too classy a man to air that out in a press conference.

I have a hard time believing there isn't frustration. I also have a hard time believing the coaches are going into the locker rooms and into the practices saying "Hey, we've got nothin' to fix here!" Even on the offensive side.

Heck, even Rich Rod admitted problems when he was here, and I'd daresay he admitted them more freely than Hoke did.  Of course, admitting them is only the first step to fixing them, and not an end result, but still...

There is a lesson in listening to his presser. He teaches because he knows how unaware fans and even the press can presume to know what they really don't know. For example, I've heard guys on here  drone on about how lucky the defense was that that the D held on the goal line stand early in the 3rd. Then you learn of the called shout and jump that startled and Army player. That was worth 5 yards. It was coaching that helped make that happen.
