DIRECTIONS TO COLUMBUS

Submitted by anup414 on
Does anyone have the best directions that go from Ann Arbor to Columbus (Ohio State campus)? Last time I drove there, I was driving in the middle of FUCKING NOWHERE on a near empty gas tank going 110 on some farm road searching for the nearest gas station. I would like to avoid that this time. I fucking hate Ohio. GO BLUE

There's no way to get there without going through nowhere, sadly. How did you get there last time? I used to make the trip at least 4 times a year.

It's the giant steaming pile of monkey turds in the middle of a big-ass soybean field. Can't miss it. I otherwise recommend Mapquest. It won't recognize "giant steaming pile of monkey turds" but it's helpful nonetheless. I've never been to the Ohio State "campus" so I couldn't tell you anything too detailed.

just go south. it's really not that hard. go south on 23 to 75 and it becomes 23 again. and look for signs to c'bus but seriously, it's really easy. just go south.

Take 23 south, to 75. 75 & 23 are the same until Findlay. At the big sugar tanks there is an exit for 23 south to C-bus. STAY on that all the way into town. It will turn into High Street. From High Street you should be able to get right to the stadium. High Street runs right through (or next to) the OSU campus. Have a great trip. I vowed in 2000 to never watch a game there again. I went to the PSU/OSU game and was disgusted by the fans. the ones I was with knew I was from MI and were cool with me. But my sister came down to see us in 2002 and went to THE GAME w/ her boyfriend at the time and was really treated horribly my the OSU fans. Plus 90% of the people down there are a holes when it comes to us vs. them. Not a surprise to anyone!

One piece is do not go straight down 23 which is High Street, it will take you forever and you might catch the 4th quarter. Once you come through Delaware on 23 keep going about 10 miles to Polaris parkway, you will go by a Meijer on your right and (no puns please) Walmart on your left. Take a left at that light (GetGo gas station on corner) you will go about 3 miles past a huge mall and many strip malls and stores that will take you over to 71. Go south on 71 to exit 112 Hudson St Go right on Hudson, left on Summit and that takes you to Lane Avenue. This will take about 1.5 hours off of going down High Street and allow you to navigate the back end of campus that is closer to residential so you can avoid idiot hell. I hate it down there but it is what it is. Morons will scream go bucks in your face and if you ignore them it seems to fan the idiot flame.

Don't park off of High Street. Stay as close to High Street as you can. I made the mistake twice and my truck got rolled over both times. Cougar has the right info: go South on 23 to 75, take 75 South to Findlay: watch for the Pioneer sugar silos, that will be the exit for 15 East: take 15 East, it turns into 23 South at Carey, OH: This will take you right into the cesspool of downtown and the campus.

I went to the 1996 Game in C-Bus and I have never seen such an organized effort to catch speeders. The Ohio State Police would put a trooper with a radar gun in a concealed location and he would zap the traffic and then radio ahead to a group of 5+ trooper ahead who would then pull over the offender. Give yourself extra time to avoid funding the Ohio State Police.

Does anyone know when the team bus will roll down to Columbus? I live in Bowling Green, which is right on 75 south of Toledo, and I would love to go out and honk for the team bus as it goes by.

I live here. For Toledoans, travel to Columbus is a constant thorn in the side. That's what amuses me about university of ohio state (Pryor's term, not mine) fans here. There literally is no way to Columbus from here to catch a game. Those that try set out from town like they're making a summit push up Everest - except buckeye fans carry whiskey instead of oxygen canisters. It is no wonder the locals are so frustrated and angry. I'm proud to say that Toledo was part of Michigan before Ohio was tricked into taking it. And there is still no decent road to the capitol.

Seriously consider renting a car in toledo or somewhere with Ohio plates if you have to park anywhere near campus. If you have a Michigan license plate or any Michigan stickers or anything your car is in serious peril. I had a jeep once...and it was defiled by buckey urine and stank for months...I was pissed hur hur but seriously... Go down...way down to an evil place where people are strange and you feel like you are in some sort of alternate world where everyone acts weird and wears red and spews prfanity at anything blue or yellow.
