The Digression of Posters on This Blog

Where have some of the old posters gone? A lot of these new posters suck.

They left for r/cfb and r/collegebasketball because the new site design is ass and the blog doesn't give a shit about the board. Also, the abundance of ads on the site makes mobile unbearable.

There is no moderation at this place. The moderators are asleep at the wheel. I mostly stay away because of the unchecked ugliness that goes on in comments. And I am sure the ugliness is not all Ohio St fans, and trolls. It's also unhappy and angry people who also happen to be Michigan fans.

You are dead on about the ugliness in the comments.  I am stunned from time to time about the things people say to each other, and I absolutely believe comments have gotten more obnoxious over the years.  I understand it’s the internet and all, but a New Year’s resolution to be more civil on the site would be a good idea for a lot of people.

Moderators do clean this place up, but at some point asking people doing this for free to scour the site for assholes isn't all that appealing.  I think they keep it reasonable all things considered.

Also, for someone who claims to stay away from this site, you got a lot of points in under a year.

The proliferation of trolls here over The past year or two has gotten bad.

However, r/cfb is worse to check since the anti-Michigan trolls practically run that site.  The r/collegebasketball site is better since the trolls are mostly infighting between the "blue blood" bball schools.

The redesign is really bad on the forum side. So many of the best posters left around that time, and I personally spend way less time here too.

As for the ads, I don't see any. I used to whitelist this site, but the ads are way too intrusive now.

Seems to me that this site gets a lot of its traffic from the forum, especially in the off season.  They really should care more about it.

There never was a time like you say. Maybe 5% have quality sports. I've never seen it any other way, even when I would read here sometimes before I started posting myself.

No, it really was. Don't even have to go 10 years, can go 5.

I think 2017/2018 things fell off a cliff. The redesign happened and in terms of actual results, the 2017 season was brutal (MSU loss in particular) and the 2018 season ending was beyond the pale in Columbus. I think in those two years all of the optimism people had held out for so long for Harbaugh (and even before Harbaugh, that things would get fixed with a non-Hoke/RR coach) evaporated.

Merlin will be 1 on Christmas Eve and is about 80 pounds.  he is an athlete and very muscular.  fast twitch like i've never seen in a lab.  we do about 6 miles of walking a day.  I've lost 40+ pounds walking so much and eating mostly steak or turkey sandwiches and then ben & jerry's for a treat on saturdays.

It is moderated, but we need more.

As one of them, I'll tell you that the new format, plus actually having a job that I need to pay attention to and a family (and, in my case, a fucking zoo of pets), plus all the other people who are moderators being in the same boat (it is not a paid title here), it's hard if not impossible. Further, banning people - which does happen in the background - doesn't stop them from showing up an hour later under a different name (even the same name if the account is deleted).

I am with you ... over the past 2 years it's been pretty bad.

Many of the bad postings come from when we lose for sure. It's because Michigan is NOT allowed to lose, ever.  We must win all games and be undefeated or it is a losing season. That is what it has come down to and anything less than a perfect season is totally unacceptable. If we do lose then all coaches must be fired and the players have no role in playing and performing and we must bring in new coaches asap to right the ship.

In other words people freak totally out at any and all losses and lose their minds.
