Devin Gardner Doing Color Commentary for the Quick Lane Bowl
Forgive me if I missed this, but I didn't realize that Devin had started a broadcasting career. He's doing the Quick Lane Bowl (EMU vs. Pitt) on WJR and ESPNU tonight. Bringing a ton of insight and energy to the broadcast. I think he's doing great.
You can listen to it HERE.
Another former Michigan player in the booth!

He's a great ambassador for Michigan. Wish him the best!

Addicted.
Joe OD'd on eucalyptus leaves in his koala youth, he usually handles it well until withdrawal symptoms kick in. Like tonight.

He's the board's magic 8 ball.

He’s been smoking the oil, again.

I wonder how he evaluates receiver routes, because years ago he had to stop looking downfield to keep from getting his neck broken.

Well he was a WR for a while...

If he claims nobody is open downfield when there are clearly open receivers, I’ll just assume he’s having a flashback to his personal ‘nam.

If there's some god-awful oline play, we can look forward to him asking the PBP guy if he's an assassin.

He always has been energetic and articulate in interviews.

Devin always seemed to be extremely smart and witty in interviews. I think he could be really good as a broadcaster. I also think he could have been a really good QB but was ruined by bad coaching and a bad OL.
I hope he’s successful. He certainly deserves it.

I dunno, man. . . I think he interviews well, if you can hear what he's saying, but he doesn't have a commentator's voice. IIRC I had trouble understanding what he was saying in interviews because he's got this low, soft voice that doesn't get picked up well in whatever cheap mics beat writers use. Maybe the better mics they got in booths will fix half the problem, but it'd still be lacking that energetic gruffness you'd usually expect from a commentator. He's got a great voice for hostage negotiations and other de-escalation work, though. I wonder what he sounded like in the huddle.

I don’t remember that but it has been a long time since I heard him interviewed. I just remember that he rarely got caught off guard by questions and could handle even the difficult ones with ease. It was very different than Denard, who could never seem to be comfortable in the spotlight.
Anyway, Chris Weber has the exact type of voice you’re describing and he’s been a pretty successful broadcaster.

I don't see him on ESPNU but glad he's going into broadcasting. I like his analysis on WTKA

Devin always stood out as a talented guy. Glad he is a wolverine and I hope the broadcasting job turns into a solid career.

Has he made any remarks about Narddog’s defense back in the day?

It’s nice to see him break into the broadcasting world. I saw him earlier this year do a Ferris St. game.

Since I'm not doing anything, I synced the TV with WJR. Both these guys on WJR are doing a good job. Devin's input definitely translates to TV. Good for him!

I really hope Devin succeeds with this. He gave so much to his teams, got so little from his coaches, and never had a bad word to say about it. He's a good dude.

Sorry I missed this. Have heard Devin on the radio several times and have been impressed. Looking forward to him launching a successful announcing career. One of my favorite Wolverines.

He’s great never forget that game against OSU.

Man, that was probably the best performance by a UM QB that will be forgotten because we didn't win the game.

He can replace Stanley jackson anytime and I’d be happy to not have to look at his wax statue head.
