Denard Wins Team MVP (Winners of Other Team Awards Inside)
The team awards were handed out tonight and I know you're all probably shocked but Denard won the Bo Schembechler Most Valuable Player of the Year Award for the second year in a row.
Other winners:
Dr. Arthur D. Robinson Scholarship Award (Leading Senior Scholar): Will Heininger
Hugh R. Rader Memorial Award (Top Offensive Lineman): David Molk
Roger Zakoff Award (Best LB): Kenny Demens
Robert P. Ufer Bequest (Senior who has demonstrated the most enthusiasm and love for Michigan): Split between Ryan Van Bergen and Kevin Koger
Richard Katcher Award (Best DL): Mike Martin
I just want to give another shout out to the Senior class who dealt with so much and fought through it all. This team wouldn't be where it is today if it wasn't for those guys. They're true Michigan Men.

It just hit me, now that i'm a week away from graduating, how much I'm going to miss this class. The non-redshirts started with me in the fall of 2008, and now they only have one more game to cap off one of the most unbelieveable careers in M football history. They all stayed, and no matter what, I will always think of them as champions.

Graduating is always a great feeling. I was terrified when I finished, but still glad I finished.

Congrats to everyone, especially the seniors for all that they have been through. I only wish that all of these players could be back next season.

Congrats guys! I'm really going to miss those seniors too.

institute a leadership award - the Team 132 Leadership Award

I love this idea. I can't think of a better example of outstanding leadership than the seniors on this team.

That is how long it took for everyone to change their mind on these guys. I am proud of the Senior class, but I also feel really bad. They were here for one of the most turbulent times in Michigan history, and I do feel like a lot of people did quit on them in the RR years. This is why they deserve all of the praise in the world though, because they stayed. They stayed and made this team better. So thanks.

Do they still hand out the "M Champion of the Year" Award for unsung hero-type guy?
I know a dude who won that award back in 87. lol

Congrats to everyone! Good luck to the seniors!

Congratulations to the seniors for persevering, etc.

In other news, can you guess who wrote this?
"After three years of interesting year-end Michigan football busts, each marked by a particular lowlight, tonight's event is expected to return to the more traditional circumstance."
If you guessed Mark Snyder, you're correct!

I never understand why people post links to articles by writers they hate. You know you're helping him out by giving him extra page views, right?

Tremendous night for the team and coaches that was well-deserved. I have never seen Laurel Manor that packed. A little disappointed in Desmond who is normally outstanding and a class act. Desmond went on a strange segue where he alluded to the prior coaching staff and administration's "strange decision making" and then compared it to marketers making consumers drink cherry coke instead of coke. Desmond did sit for hours signing autographs and was very complimentary of the current players and coaching staff. A great night featuring Desmond, Shoelace's MVP, some very classy senior speeches and a very cute scholarship award-winning female. Good times were had by all and a good night to cap off the regular season.

It was kinda tacky that they didn't take the plaques out of the plastic bags before handing them out.

at times has ball security issues
I don't know if that translates to being a sloppy eater as well, but I think they wanted to keep the awards clean

the same deal as the basketball banquet? Open to public, autograph signings, an all that jazz? It seems like it would be nearly impossibly to pull off but figured it was worth asking.

But this is a short video with some amusing highlights from the banquet, courtesy of Mike Martin:

Kevin Koger's comment cracks me up.
