For those of you who are alumni, how do you feel about getting autographs of student-athletes? Do you feel a little weird asking someone younger than you to give an autograph? Just curious.

FWIW, I don't ask people for autographs. I actually think asking someone to write their name down is kind of weird in the first place. I was into it when I was a kid, though. Just curious how people view it as adults, especially when the signers are college students.

It would feel a little weird, but i would let Denard sleep with my wife!

I'm a student. He's older than me. Still weird. Asking anyone for their autograph is weird no matter who you/they are.

I view it in close concert with the acceptability of wearing a sports jersey outside of a sporting event. If you're older than 12, 15 at the absolute most, there is a higher-than-average likelihood you're doing it wrong.

Good thing nobody considers you a credible expert in fasion or acceptable fan behavior.
I am heart broken I won't have your approval.

Even as a kid I thought getting someone's autograph was weird. I don't think memories require a signature but that is just me.

for autograph of an osu Bears quarterback who is younger than me. But it makes it easier to bring along little kids and say you're doing it for them... Much more worth it to get autograph of Sweetness, though.

Has anyone been to something like this? Wondering if I should make the trip to AA to get an autograph. Assuming the line will have to be outside in the snow, will there be hundreds of people there?
Could be a dumb question since we are talking about DENARD, but what do you guys think?

I'm 18 and about on the brink of creepy/not creepy, so I'd better get one before it's too creepy.

meh, I am 29 and I have no shame getting Denard's autograph.

The amount of autograph seekers is gonna be limited by the amount of Ray-ban sunglasses the M-Den has in store - those are necessary to not be blinded by the beatific luminesence of Denard's smile.
I'm actually somewhat older than Denard and can count on one hand* the number of autographs I've gone out of my way to get in my life, but if I was in Ann Arbor, I'd definitely go just to thank him for everything he did for my university both on and off the field, because it's Denard f'in Robinson.
* - the celebrity in question was backup future Mrs. kehnonymous Felicia Day, so one hand did figure into the equation, sigh. =\

Did anyone attend the autograph session before the womens basketball game against Penn State? If so, how was the line? I feel like a lot of people would be cut off and not get an autograph but I could be wrong.

I did, I'm a student and -no- students were in line before the doors opened so I got to Garder in like 10mins (he was supposed to be with Gallon, but Gallon wasn't there). Then we ran over to the other line and literally is was cut off right behind us (I may or may not have lied when the dude asked if I had gotten any yet). So yea, it got pretty crazy

That sucks that Gallon wasnt there. I remember there was an autograph session before Braylon's charity game and Woodley was suppose to be there but didnt show up.
What time did you get in line for the other players/did the line get cut off?
January 21st, 2013 at 10:32 PM ^
I was in the other line at like 5:30 I think and it was from 5:15-6:15...The line was cut right at 6:15, I dont think I actually got my sigs till like 6:20
January 24th, 2013 at 12:03 PM ^
I was at that session. I went first to the other line and got Kovacs/Ryan/Dileo. Then I went over to the Gardner/Gallon line. By the time I got to the table, Gallon was there. But I got there like an hour early and was the sixth person in line.

I collect signed books. Granted, most of the authors/poets are at least a few decades older than I am. I think it is pretty neat to have my favorite author sign one of my favorite novels of his/hers. I don't think it is "weird" or "creepy" asking your favorite author, player, actor, whatever, to autograph an item as a memento. Now, Randy Quaid look alike going decked out in Denard's gear with a HUGE "I LOVE YOU DENARD" sign definitely borders on the creepy side but a normal sports fan, no matter the age, asking for an autograph of one of his favorite athletes is fine, IMO. One of my friend's grandfather was a sports memorabilia collector (for ever) and he would write to athletes, go to games and hang out at the dug-out, and get a card signed here a program signed there. Fans come in all ages and nothing "creepy" unless you show up looking like this:

Where did you find a picture of me?
January 21st, 2013 at 6:53 PM ^
I want to go but not sure what to bring w me to have Denard sign:
1. Hardcover copy of "Michigan Memories" signed by Bo. Though the book was before Denard's time, it would be cool having both of their signatures together.
2. One of the home game programs from the last 4 years: his last home game this year against Iowa, the Under the Lights program, win over Ohio, Sugar Bowl program.
3. Mini Helmet
4. Sugar Bowl mini football
Which would you get signed?

I've only ever used Schutt (from the MDen) so I couldn't tell you the differnece but they are really nice quality. Silver Sharpie on it looks fantastic.
January 21st, 2013 at 9:36 PM ^
There's not too much of a difference. Riddell is more of the "standard" mini helmet you see more of because they are licensed for NFL minis. I like the Schutt helmets for their padding and metal facemasks. Either is fine, it's all preference.
As for a pen, getting anything signed in silver is always a gamble. Try to find a Decocolar silver paint pen if you want to do it in silver. They are paint pens, so they require prepping and take longer to dry. Silver sharpies never look as crisp and are usually dry even when they are new. If you get the helmet signed on the winged portion of a helmet, then go with a black sharpie.
