BREAKING: #Rivals100 ATH Quavaris Crouch has committed to #Tennessee. What does it mean for the #Vols? More here -> https://t.co/Q5gsQ9YVt6 pic.twitter.com/cfQEJnJwJ5

Interesting that he chose Tennessee when they weren't in contention before last week. Also one thing he mentioned earlier this summer is that he was looking for teams to be successful on the field. Tennessee was 5-7

Dang it.

Sometimes these things happen. Doesn't always have to be the "bagman" theory.
If you remember, many moons ago, Sammy Watkins (per Tom VH) was all but signed, sealed and delivered to Michigan. He makes one trip to Clemson and commits out of nowhere.
Sometimes a place just feels like "home". Perhaps Tennessee felt that way to Crouch. That, or in 3-5 years we will hear that Pruiett's best friends are hookers. Both likely scenarios.

And sometimes when a school buys you a home, it feels like home.
December 21st, 2018 at 8:13 PM ^
And sometimes, two houses fall on you and you say, “Hey, get off me, Homes!”

Or just one and you're the Wicked Witch of the East.

logged in just to comment and let you know ^^^^is the funniest thing on this mb.
December 21st, 2018 at 7:37 PM ^
Is that the way it went? I thought he was like Artavis Scott and Percy Harvin claiming it was too cold in Michigan.
December 21st, 2018 at 7:38 PM ^
Lakeyale you are incredibly and pathetically naive. The fact that you even typed out your second paragraph and clicked the save button is amazing. Man I hope your generation never runs this country.
December 22nd, 2018 at 12:02 AM ^
Well, I'm 42 years old and have been in the Biotech industry for almost 20 years. I'm not running the country (thank the Good Lord), but I think me / my generation are doing just fine. Also, have yet to have my direct manager bring in posting history into my year end review...so there's that too.

Sometimes several top players, within weeks, suddenly feel like one particular school that hasnt been successful on the field in a long time.....is like home. Ya, i remember this story from Oxford, Mississippi. Bagmen. Bagmen, ok?
December 21st, 2018 at 10:23 PM ^
Yeah, or maybe it's just the money
December 21st, 2018 at 10:58 PM ^
Yeah but overall this has been a great week for Michigan football-from the recruiting results to the Shea announcement.
December 21st, 2018 at 6:32 PM ^
What he was "looking for" i have no doubt he found.
Tennessee 2018 = Mississippi 2013.
The bagman commeth.

The fawning Sports Ill. article from 2013 about Hugh Freeze's superior recruiting skills. It was hilarious even at the time. Just the slightest nod to "the whispers [of improprieties] will linger".

So true. Tennessee realizes that they need to start playing the 'crootin game with the rest of the $EC.
Give them 2 years and they will be on probation from that stellar organization known as the NCAA.
Their fanbase is tired of being an afterthought, so easy to find some extra cash to spread around.
December 21st, 2018 at 7:10 PM ^
They don’t care if they have a few good years like Ole Miss they will look at it like it was a price worth paying. The SEC has no soul and any success is great in their eyes
December 21st, 2018 at 7:48 PM ^
You’re crazy if you think one of Saban’s dudes is getting hammered by the NCAA. Hugh was a dipshit high school coach who pissed off the wrong person.
December 21st, 2018 at 8:56 PM ^
They'll never be on probation. For bagmen. Now, if a hooker is involved they might look into it. But not a Louisville hooker.
December 21st, 2018 at 7:03 PM ^
Look how much time, money, and energy was expended trying to catch the upper echelon of criminal gangs, when everyone knew what was going on. Should anyone expect the NCAA to really do anything about the obvious?
December 21st, 2018 at 6:32 PM ^
Here for the fuckery
December 21st, 2018 at 10:23 PM ^
Thumbs up, if I knew how to do that or was allowed to do that.
December 21st, 2018 at 6:32 PM ^
Now, what am I supposed to do with all of these lemons?
December 21st, 2018 at 6:43 PM ^
Make lemonade?
December 21st, 2018 at 7:26 PM ^
The dick lemons may be difficult to explain.
December 21st, 2018 at 6:34 PM ^
Yea nothing fishy about that at all.
December 21st, 2018 at 6:41 PM ^
Nothing fishy going on there - just some bagman cash.
And I have no problem with it either. A bunch of rich old dudes want to give some bags of cash to talented young dudes who often come from families in need - absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Fuck the NCAA and their hypocrisy, Michigan should be spreading the wealth too. Stephen Ross, Don Graham and Bobby Kotick would happily give a few hundred grand each year to get a few more top 50 types. Hell, I would even kick a grand or two. If I knew the money was going to a good family, why not?
if ass-clown Mark Emmert gives back his salary next year, I will change my view.
December 21st, 2018 at 6:44 PM ^
As long as they declare the income on their taxes...
December 21st, 2018 at 7:09 PM ^
*snort*
They funnel the money through churches in the south now to hide it.
December 21st, 2018 at 7:13 PM ^
Interesting point! If the payment is linked specifically with the player playing for the team, it would be income tax for the player.
if the payment is just a token of appreciation then it is gift tax for the bagman - but only amounts more than $14k per bag man (this would be the loophole I guess).
December 21st, 2018 at 8:07 PM ^
The annual exclusion amount is $15K/year now, but whatever.
December 21st, 2018 at 10:16 PM ^
That's the IRS's problem, not the NCAA's. That's all the more reason to bring it above the table, if they care about that.
December 21st, 2018 at 7:25 PM ^
I have a problem with it, because it's not a level playing field. Schools like Michigan try to do things the right way, and the NCAA turns it's back on the all mighty $EC. If we did decide to start passing some payments onto players you know we'd get hammered.
I agree that I have no problem with these kids getting paid. They are generating serious cash, and it's only fair that they get to share in it. But until it's declared perfectly legal for all teams, it needs to be against the rules for all teams, and the NCAA needs to actually enforce it.
December 21st, 2018 at 6:34 PM ^
Tennessee will be on sanctions soon
December 21st, 2018 at 6:58 PM ^
Only if they're able to knock off Bama once or twice.
December 21st, 2018 at 7:02 PM ^
I always thought the school that would get punished would be Kentucky get the football team in the collateral of the basketball teams punishment. I didnt think it would come tot point where they have to go after one of the middle of the pack teams who cant do much in the conference.
December 21st, 2018 at 7:13 PM ^
Is their coach going to have to sit out the first half against an FCS opponent? Because we’ve all seen how harsh the dick holes at NCAA are.
December 21st, 2018 at 7:33 PM ^
Username checks out.
December 21st, 2018 at 9:14 PM ^
I hope its soon. Hopefully they'll take away 30 scholarships in 3 years. Hopefully real soon. Watch them go from 5-7 to 3-9 consistently.
December 21st, 2018 at 6:36 PM ^
Seems like a good kid. Good luck to him.
December 21st, 2018 at 6:36 PM ^
“I picked Tennessee because the fanbase really moved me … TO A BIGGER HOUSE!!! Uh oh, I said the quiet part loud and the loud part quiet! Oh Crouchy, you moron!”
December 21st, 2018 at 6:36 PM ^
Tennessee is quite the overnight sensation I must say!
December 21st, 2018 at 7:22 PM ^
No kidding. This is like committing to Indiana.
December 21st, 2018 at 7:40 PM ^
I know UM has had its up and downs, but I just don’t get this outside of being cynical and thinking there is money involved.
Tennessee hasn’t had a 10 win season since 2007...
December 21st, 2018 at 6:37 PM ^
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
December 21st, 2018 at 6:39 PM ^
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$EC
Fixed that for you.
December 21st, 2018 at 6:37 PM ^
Man, I was really looking forward to that lemon too...
December 21st, 2018 at 6:37 PM ^
Glad its over. Crouch always seemed like a longshot when it was between Clemson and Michigan. Then randomly Tennessee was the big time favorite.
TBH I don't think beating OSU and making the playoffs would make a difference with him considering he was clearly $hopping his talents by choosing Tennessee over Michigan and Clemson
Were stacked at LB anyways. If I had to choose between Dax or Crouch itd be Dax all day as speed in the secondary is clearly something we needed most
December 21st, 2018 at 6:38 PM ^
We offer scholarships. Tennessee seems to be offering $cholar$hip$.
The new Ole Mi$$
December 21st, 2018 at 6:38 PM ^
If that's his best choice, I wonder what his girlfriend looks like?
December 21st, 2018 at 6:40 PM ^
Fuck the SEC Bagmen. Has anyone been to Knoxville? What a dump.
