Craig Roh > Ironman
They touched on it during the video interview, but here is a pretty nice article by K. Meinke.
This is another one of those records that I didn't think I would see fall. Over and above the day to day durability, it requires more than a bit of luck, beginning with not finding a senior All-American filling your spot as a freshman. Congratulations to Roh.

not to be a dick or anything, but it would be nice if you said what the record being broken was in the post, especially since 1) you have to read a couple paragraphs into the article before you get to it and 2) you have to go to mlive, which some people avoid due to the inherent risk of becoming dumber upon reading.

I don't get paid to serve articles up for your consumption.
If you had been paying close attention to the goings on around the team, you would have known exactly what it was about.

You're a jackass

He's right, and you don't have to be a dick about it. This forum is not just a link dump, if you're going to link to an article, tell us what the article is about. If you don't want to put in the work to post a good thread, don't post one.
I don't understand your second paragraph at all. If we should know exactly what it's about, then why post it at all?

I even upvoted him.

What's with the cursor in your signature? It's annoying as hell.

should I know about these things?

"To make it through your whole career without having to sit out or having any problems, or even being displaced by someone else, that's a great accomplishment." - Desmond Morgan, quoted in the article
Things like this are feats that should probably get more mention than they do, I believe. Given the ins and outs of football in general, to be able to say that you started fifty consecutive games is, quite frankly, incredible to me, not to mention through position and coaching changes. A tribute to endurance and versatility indeed. Congratulations to Craig!

Roh has always been a favorite of mine but this record really snuck up on me.
The article was nice, but pretty thin. I want to know more about his training, etc.
Besides this record, anyone surviving Gerg's tenure at Michigan should be given a special "I Survived The Beaver" service award.

To break this down, 51 games is 4 full seasons and the 3 bowl games. During Roh's time, the most games Michigan could have played is 54. In the future, the most starts that a Michigan player could have is 60 (15 game season comprising of a 12 game regular season, 1 Big Ten Championship Game, 2 Playoff Games). It's quite an accomplishment by Roh, but if Michigan can grab some impact freshman in the future, there'll be opportunities to break the streak.

How in the world do these guys go from 230 to 280- that's insane to think about- especially since most of that is pure muscle...
Congrats to him- pretty cool record to have!

Crazy to not only think about the workout regimen, but also to think about how much food he had to consume.

That sounds like a ton, but he was a scrawny 6'5" 18 year old when he got to campus, so that's not a huge surprise. But he was listed at 238 as a frosh, so more like 238 to 280, not that is makes a huge difference.

I went from 170 as an 18 year old to 225 as a 22 year old on beer and hot dogs mostly lol
