Craig Roh

I'm thinking a star was born today. Very good pass rushing, run support, and even pass coverage. I think he has great instincts and recognition. He's quick and strong. Plays smart. Not much else to say other than he is a recruit that UM absolutely needed and he is going to have a great career at UJM. Thoughts?

..he had a pretty good game. Plays a little high for a guy of his weight (meaning he's not big enough to overpower a big tackle so he's going to have to be faster and get under their pads when they actually lock him up). Definite potential.

I know what you mean, but a couple of his best plays were off straight bullrushes right at the OL who was blocking him. He is playing at about 240 right now. I see him gaining some weight, but not much more--got to keep this guy active on the line of scrimmage IMO.

This seems to go against the whole "crab stance" thing.... I was at the game so didn't get to see much up close, but Roh is a reputed pad level king. Always getting leverage even on smaller guys, no? Maybe he he lost a little discipline once he realized he could push o-lineman into the backfield with ease...

after I saw his dad's statement posted here this week; seemed like a great kid, from a great family. But damn, there was no extra support necessary - this kid got.it.done. I'm excited to see how he progresses both throughout the season, and his career here at UM.

The quick position was a complete unknown coming into this game. Roh came out and flat out impressed at the position. This kid is a true freshman, and it looks like the sky is the limit for this kid. He's going to be a good one.

with Roh. He has a great mentor in Brandon Graham. Holy shit did Graham look and play like a star today or what?! Dear God that guy is good. Sorry about switching OT like that but I just had to say something about BG.

Thats because Brandon Graham took the whole "UM players dont like to practice" thing personal. He wanted to show how UM football plays. Its going to be sad to see Graham go. You know after last year he wanted to redeem the season the team had. Great start, next week hopefully they make it 2-0.

with Barwis, and that kid is going to destroy. i have to keep reminding myself that this was western, but yeah, if you pick a couple players that don't play quarterback, Roh has to be at the top of the list for today.

I was extremely impressed with Roh today. I initially wanted to him to redshirt but this guy has a lot of ability and we all witnessed today. I'm pumped that we got this guy for the next 4 years.

A true freshman was bull rushing their offensive line...he isn't even known for his power, after seeing that you realize this guy has a chance to be special.

I was a little concerned when I heard he passed Herron on the depth chart but after watching him I was impressed. Now I feel a little better about the depth and see why he had offers from USC and others...

Death Roh dropped back in to coverage a few times...he had the middle short third on Boo Boos early INT on the deflected ball...looked like he had that back out of the backfield covered, or was going to cover him... RR praised him after the game...

Not much of the crab stance, but man, what an impact Roh had today. His bull rush success came out of nowhere. All indications were he was spins and speed, too light to move a Division I lineman. Western's line wasn't that small. I guess we'll have some better data after next week, but I'd love to seem him plant that punk Clausen a few times. Some of my favorite images over the years have been Michigan defensive lineman lording over ND quarterbacks (Crable over a crushed Clausen; Branch over a bulldozed Brady Quinn, etc.) It would be nice to see Graham or Roh take the shine off Weis' hype machine after their win today.

Loved Roh's game today. I have to say that I love that nickname Death Roh too. That has to stick. Also, about halfway through the game today someone mentioned on the live blog that Graham hadn't done much. He had about 3 or 4 hurries at that point and was all over the field. He should have had that sack too if Hiller hadn't made such a great play as BG was bringing him down. He's a beast and IMO the main key to our D.

Roh is 6'5" and 240 lbs. I know he's not the same thickness as Brandon Graham, but this is not a small man. He's going to be a bitch to deal with for opposing teams. Roh will be the defensive star of this 2009 class.

I saw him play last year in AZ and he just dominated the games.........I would compare it to watching Terrell Suggs, he maybe not that athletic but I think he maybe a touch quicker.

Whenever you have your first gallery showing for your work (NY MoMA? Boutique in Ann Arbor? Under a bridge?), please let me cater. I shall bring countless Lunchables and we shall all drink box wine. It will be glorious.
