Why are people upset? Is Michigan glaringly, obviously better than any of the 7 teams ranked above them? Maybe LSU. Other than that, this seems about right.

I like to bitch as much as anyone, but this is pretty damn meaningless at this point. Plus, no. 8 isn't that bad for a team that didn't make its conference title game last year and has to break in a new QB.

I wish we were lower ranked.  I mean, if you're in a Power 5 conference it doesn't matter if you're ranked 25th or 5th in the preseason if you win all of your regular season games chances are you'll be in the playoff.  Teams may also be less "geared up" playing against #25 vs playing against #5.  And having a lower ranking typically gets you a more favorable point spread if you're betting for Michigan.

The only reason it matters is because higher ranked teams can absorb a loss easier and still get in the playoffs. As much as they say the "real" poll is independent we all know it plays heavily in the rankings.
Although I do like being the underdog but I've got a feeling Harbaugh is gonna keep our boys hungry

We will be undefeated heading into that dumpster of a stadium. say Michigan's talent will speak for itself as the season progresses, let the doubters be shocked. I like it better, reminds me of 97.

Love it. OSU should be ranked higher despite the talent they use bc of their track record of consistency and JT Barrett. I wish MSU was ranked higher too but oh well. Not that it really matters. Everybody who plays us is gonna be well aware of all the hype regardless of what our official ranking is.

I expect nothing less from the very people he has exposed...

The ranking is just fine with me, I'd rather be the hunter than the hunted.  Time to go out and prove who the team to beat is.

Not sure what the problem is.  8 is more than respectable for a team that hasn't really done anything yet, and like it or not Ohio St. has a ton of talent and a track record of success.  This is a strange thing to seek validation from.

Mork probably made sure Staee was outside the top ten to push the whole Disrespekt thing.

I care so little about the assistant sports AD poll that i won't even look. I knew it was a sham back in 1997 when some coach voted us 7th. The only tragedy is this sham was ever a factor in deciding the teams for a postseason
